I tried... Something about "the car has to be like new after repairs" legal bull**** totaled it out because of it HAVING to have a respray... Sad thing is my way would've been considerably cheaper for them, oh well that's government for you. If there's any light at the end of the tunnel I got them to pay out NADA average retail at $5,375 and the buyback is $560. Financially I'm well ahead, and yet I'm still upset over the tarnished title. I'm doing the buyback and will fix it myself but haven't decided on if I'll keep it solely or get something else though, odds are it'll be a NB or SN95 if I do buy something.

Yes sir that would of been horrible, it gets better, might be rough but you'll definitely be ahead of the game now not having that baggage

Which year and engine was problematic on the 7gen Celica? Was the problem in heavy oil consumption?

The main thing with them was over-revving and detonating the oil pump.

I'm driving a friend's RSX this week while my car waits to be fixed. Not a fan of it.

What's don't you like about it? I've always sort of had a soft spot for those.

It's actually growing on me lol, mostly just the heated seats though tongue.gif

But the whole car feels really stiff compared to my car; the clutch, the steering, the gearbox. And I don't like how squished the speedometer, makes it hard to tell what speed I'm going exactly. My Celi is so slow that the speedo is so stretched out lol and it's nice.

Although I do have to say the car does have some speed to it, more than I'm used to. Something about being in 5th gear at 60km/have just feels weird lol. Oh and the 6th gear is so foreign to me, I feel like I'm going to put the car into reverse every time haha.

I hear a lot of people aren't too crazy about the RSX, rather have the Civic Si or an older Integra.

Well, should be getting the check from insurance Monday or Tuesday. Then I can begin car searching, again...

00-02 1ZZ's can burn oil horribly
00-02 2ZZ's are noted for the lift bolts breaking and requiring replacement, which isn't terribly hard to do.
00-02 C60 transmissions (6spd) are noted for tighter shift gates and weaker synchros
Any 2ZZ and 1ZZ can grenade the oil pump if it's over revved badly, or bend valves due to float, or both. Or if you can get it over 20,000 RPM it'll actually rip a hole in space time and travel you and the car back exactly 1 week, also known as a Backstep, but only 7 days as there's not enough power in the Element 115 fuel source to go any further.

Wow! I didn't see that on the Toyota website, these tuners really go all out!

Thank you for the info. A friend bought a 7gc and I was wondering about it since he got it pretty cheap.

Tell him to joint newcelica.org forums, good information there. The cars are solid except for the 1ZZ oil burning issues and the early C60 issues. Plus they look really good in black all cleaned up, but I could be biased....

I used to watch their videos all of the time, but then there was a long break between videos and I really haven't checked since.
