Yeah I was looking into the Celica some earlier and everyone says to get '00-01 for the throttle cable and the 6-speeds have the 8,350 rev limit in those years where '02 has a 7,800 rpm rev limit. Then '03-04 were DBW but have black interior and a glass moonroof and went back to the 8,350 rev limit, then '05 went back to a 7,800 rpm rev limit. Apparently the extra 500 rpm makes a big difference between gear changes. Was reading some on the RSX as well and at least compared to the Celica people were saying it has a broader and more powerful torque band and you didn't have to keep it revved up as much, though the RSX seems to cost a good bit more condition being equal. Which I realize none of them except for the Corvette will be as torque biased or as quick in a straight line as the Firebird, but clearly that's not all that matters to me otherwise I wouldn't want to sell it and try something else. That said it's still fairly important to a degree; I'd still like to clear 60 in under 7 seconds, have passing power, and being able to get up to speed without drama. So I guess based on that the 240SX, Miata, and MR2 get ruled out off the bat, sure you could mod them but that'd mean swapping the 240SX and MR2 or supercharging the Miata. The supercharger wouldn't be that big an ordeal, so I guess the Miata could stay in the running with that exception. I'm not sure what I hate more, selling a car or buying one.

I keep forgetting the MR-S exists for whatever reason. Yeah one of those with the 2ZZ-GE would be a lot of fun I imagine.

Once you get past the kinda lil bit gay looks of the 00-02 models and get on with the later projector equipped models with better looking tail lights, they're pretty OK looking. Interior is pretty sports car, spartan but well laid out and nicely functional.

Yeah I was watching some videos on them and they make the Miata look useful. No storage space at all except for the tiny bins behind the seats. At least the Miata has a remotely decent trunk, enough for groceries or a backpack etc... Even the SW20 had a small trunk behind the engine and then the decently sized storage space under the hood, what the Hell happened. I mean I don't need a large amount of space by any means, but enough space for a week's worth of groceries would be nice. Which I guess if I'm considering a 7th gen Celica or RSX might as well throw in the '98-01 Integra GS-R, why not the earlier ones you ask because the '98+ looks a lot better. That's ok many say the DC2 is a lot better than the DC5 overall anyway. I'm just not sure about any of the 4 cylinder cars though, I don't like revving out and staying in high revs on a daily basis. That's the one thing with the Firebird I really like, power everywhere and don't have to rev it out. Hell I can gain speed going up a hill in 5th at 35 mph if I use enough throttle, with the A/C on. I understand short of buying the Corvette it means compromising, but I don't won't to go back to a situation where I love the handling then hate the engine. So really that leaves the 300ZX or maybe a supercharged NB Miata.

You've got the WHOLE passenger side seat and footwell ![]() I don't like having loose items in the passenger compartment, like some bread or something that's no big deal but any kind of canned food or heavier hard object is a deadly projectile waiting to happen. I've heard too many stories from my grandfather where he arrived at the scene of an accident and someone had been killed by something unsecured in the vehicle, an accident they'd otherwise have lived through. Hell one time there was one where someone hadn't secured the scissor jack in the trunk and it punched through the back seat and into the driver killing them... It doesn't take much impact force in the right spot to kill someone. Thanks (or no thanks) to Scott for sending a CL listing my way....... Now I'm seriously considering purchasing a '91 BNR32 GT-R. That's what I need, a Lotus. Actually I'd love a later model Esprit V8, in theory anyway.
Anyhow ended up visiting father for Father's Day and started talking with my brother on the way there about cars and how I was planning on selling the Firebird. Which he said to try and find someone local with the suspension mods I was wanting to do and then if it makes it to where I'd be happy then do those mods, which I haven't put out a thread or anything but I have looked around and it seems anyone local only cares about going in a straight line and any into handling are states away. Which I mentioned the cars I listed here and he said the 300ZX out of the group if I couldn't find a Corvette, and he even said the 2+2 version. Which he said he thinks the 2+2 looks better since it doesn't look squashed, but the back of the 2+2 looks a little too long to me. Which supposedly the 2+2 is better for handling stability due to the wheelbase being about 5" longer which would make sense, but on the flip side you'd think the 2+0 would have sharper turn in. Then again I think the Firebird and the 2+2 have practically the same wheel base at 101" and then the Celica was right at 100", which seems to be around the wheelbase I like. I know the Miata's at 89" just felt overly twitchy, so I imagine the 2+0 at 96" would be somewhere between them. So maybe the 2+2 would be the way to go, but then again a C4 Vette is 96" too. Hmm... lots to think about. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I think a swapped MR2 would be best. Forget the Lotus, gots British electricals, runs out of special smoke and replacement smoke is expensive.

Grounds are important, you should add another one for redundancy and probably run a heavier or just new power cable too cause that **** goes to pot with age too.

Indeed I did. I keep putting off taking pictures of the Firebird so I can finish my eBay listing. Watching a video on doing the timing belt for a 300ZX hasn't helped neither does the fact when everyone that owns one says they're giant money pits, I honestly don't see how the N/A could be that bad though. Plus I'd only get a '94-95 to avoid all the earlier problems, and door mounted seat belts. '96 lost the variable valve timing otherwise it'd be in contention. This is the problem with liking most all cars and being terribly indecisive as it is, also not being rich so I can just buy one of everything at once. I don't see how people keep one car for an extended period of time and not get tired of it in some manner. I just haven't found the one I guess, or I'm just too picky for my own good. Either way.
