Previous owner put yellow bulbs in the Miata's fog lights, no idea what brand or anything though.

Nice, yellow yellow or like watered down lemonade yellow? I'm pretty sure it's the 2500K that I like. I did get a set of the 3500K as well but they're barely yellow compared to the 3500K, since the fogs don't do much on the Celica with the HID low beams light output isn't critical, it's more about the cool looks.

They seem to be in the 2500-3000K range from what I can tell.

Drove to get dinner last night, and I had to keep the high beams on as much as possible to feel remotely comfortable(without them it was downright scary)... I hate to be THAT asshole, but I'm seriously contemplating going to a HID rebase kit for the low beams. I say asshole because I know too much, otherwise I could throw them into the halogen projectors without guilt like everyone else.

After doing research the NHK stuff from Lightwerkz is the best bargain option, with the bulbs having quality components, alignment, and construction. The ballasts are also supposed to be pretty good quality too. Right now $76.50 shipped from Lightwerkz with the holiday10 coupon:
https://lightwerkz.net/products/amp-nhk-g3-...=32390607044748
https://lightwerkz.net/products/9006-nhk-hi...=33945765478540

I'd go with the 4300K bulbs, because warm white works best with my eyes. I dunno... I'm just trying to decide if the minimal glare from using HID rebase bulbs in a halogen projector is excusable. The Shinsen my brother put the Morimoto HID rebase into seemed to be ok in terms of glare, and never had anyone flash him; maybe I'm over worrying about it. I guess it bothers me because it's not to MY standard, but right now I can't afford the time or money to do it. Bleh...

Give it a whirl, you might be OK or you might just get patchy washed out over lit foreground. You can always re-sell it!

That or keep the ballasts for whenever I can get to doing a D2S conversion. I wonder if G5 projectors will fit since those have the most intense hotspot from what I can gather.

They have AMP to D2S adapters, if that's what you're asking.

Why not get good D2S and use D2S to Amp then you have straight D2S for the G5R D2S later on and can run better OEM (Hella, Denso, Matu****a) ballasts.

Cost mostly. Though when I replace the high beams with D2S bi-xenon I could swap out the 9006 projector lenses to clear and keep the NHK set in it, then run o.e. ballasts and bulbs with the (hopefully)G5 projectors.

HO HO HO (talkin 'bout Casey! Heyoooo)

Having a cold lazy day inside with the dogs, playing around getting some old game running. It works in Windows 10 but crashes easily so I'm making a Windows XP VM and a Windows 98 VM to try to play it there maybe.

Well, since I don't see Casey doing any sort of work of that caliber any time soon, I'm just gonna write that off as wishful thinking.

Who else is ringing in 2021 with an ice and sleet storm? This is surely a good omen of things to come! But some good news for 2021, I can now register my cars for 2 years at a time. Just don't know when I can do that since the law allowing it doesn't have a time table or start date for that to be in effect and the Secretary of State (our DMV and a bunch of other things) doesn't have it implemented and has no time frame to have it implemented either.

Nope, sunny and hot here. Because Alabama.

I decided to forego the HID kit, because meh... f*** not having a good hotspot... I think at this rate I'll sell it for a NA8 Miata or SW MR2 just so I can have my E-codes back. Once you go E-codes everything else is suck mode.

Thank goodness you don't go through partners like you do cars. You'd be like the weird al song 'close but no cigar'

I don't know what my problem is; I just don't bond with cars and I'm quick to find faults, then those faults drive me insane. Though in this particular instance I think I'm just aggravated at myself for not getting a '95 M-Edition like I really wanted. I talked myself into the NB2 being so much better when in reality it's just a matter of suspension, bracing, brakes, and seats. I think the only time I'm truly happy with cars is when I don't have one.

We went out for sushi; I love driving it, just not at night. If I could make some custom housings that use 4x6 E-codes I'd be set, but I don't think that's possible to do and for it to look ok. I was watching videos of various HID setups at night and I just don't like the hard straight cutoff of projectors, and even the D2S hotspot is meh next to good E-codes. Sigh...
