ive had the car for over two years and still dont know if these things are normal:

1. my steering is kind of stiff
(like you cant turn easily with the ball of your hand like on every other car ive ever driven but i dont think its quite as hard as if my power steering didnt work at all, this is probably something youd have to feel to know what im talking about
everyone else who drives my car thinks its weird, i thought so at first but ive gotten so used to it and even kinda like it now...as long as its not because something is wrong)

2. my headlights turn off automatically when i open the drivers door after taking the key out
(i just want to know if its the car or my keyless entry cause i dont want it to not do that anymore if i change my security system)

thanks

starts beeping? I've drove 6 celicas before buying mine, and not one of them beeped, they all turned the headlights off when u open the door. And as far as the power steering goes, our cars a alot harder to turn than most other cars.

my celi is the only thing ive ever driven with steering that hard.
ive driven my dads camry which is crazy easy to turn and i hate it, my boyfriends 318is, a civic or two, my friends expedition which was crazy easy too and i found really weird cause its freakin huge...

i thought something was wrong with it at first but within a week i got used to it and if there was something wrong i kinda didnt want it fixed cause i like it

i was just hoping it wasnt something id have to get fixed [and im just thinking about that now after two years]
thanks guys! im happy its normal biggrin.gif

Yea, I've read someplace that the power steering design changed quite a bit with 6g celicas and newer MR2s, so maybe that has something to do with it if its even true.

The two GT's I've driven both feel about the same, and i'm sure it's just a characteristic thing of our cars.

God, how can you guys complain about the steering? It may be one of my favorite things about the car... it's nice and tight and precise with zero slop. It's like race car steering. Every other car I drive usually has a crappy, loose, watered down feeling to the steering. Just don't let the wheel snap back on a hard corner or it can practically break your arm. Awesome.

A few other random things you may or may not know:

-the doors won't lock if the car is shut off and the keys are in the ignition (this way you can't lock them in).
-when you unlock your door, flick the key to the right twice and it'll automatically unlock the passengers door as well
-and yes, the headlights turn off when you open your door. 98% of the time that's awesome, but there are those few times at night when you wanna get out and leave your headlights on for whatever reason and they'll flick off... it's annoying, then you have to roll down the window, get out, shut the door, reach in, and turn the battery back on.
-the headreasts are not only up-and-down adjustable, but forward-and-backward adjustable (they can tilt).

I've driven mines over 100mph... I haven't notice anything... the engine just gets louder...
I had the timing belt broke on me though.

no ones complaining about it, any who has had an opinion says they like it
i just wanted to make sure it wasnt because there was anything wrong. and if it was something wrong i havnt bothered to look for a solution in the two years ive had the car because i dont want it any different than it is

i knew the first random fact but i'll have to try the second, i didnt know that
but my headrests dont tilt kindasad.gif , ive tried cause my dads 95 camry does it.

and ive driven over 100 too and no whistling ...just lots of bug splats biggrin.gif
