a while back, i contaced a guy that sells motor mount inserts on mr2oc, about making some for our 6th gens. i figured it would be a great upgrade for anyone who has a gt or a swap. i got the first set of inserts a few weeks ago and instaled them this past weekend. they fit great and a nice upgrade over the stock mounts. you notice a lot more throttle response, smoother clutch engagement, as well as shifting, and you feel more connected with the engine. it should also greatly reduce wheel hop and help with traction becuase the motor wont rock back and forth as much as it does with the stock mounts. the other cool thing is that they insert over your existing mounts, so if for some reason you ever want to take them out, you can.

here is a pic of them installed on my car.

finally... here is a pic of the rear motor mount that i filled myself about 1yr ago. it worked well at first, but as you can see it didnt last long

last but not least, there is a really awesome Video review that an mr2 ower made about the mounts. i have to say that i pretty much agree with everything he said about them in the video. the install is a little bit different on our car then the mr2, but anyone with some basic tools can do the job. took me about 1-2hrs to do the whole thing.

direct link to the video:

link to the website that did the review:

link to the site/person that made these and will be selling them. all sales questions should be emailed to kirk:

Ive just instaled mine and wow - what a difference they make!

You feel much more connected to the engine and on start up the car doesn't wobble at all, just soothingly vibrates a bit more. Shifting quickly is much more responsive and everything just feels so much more together!

I had a new clutch put in whilst doing the motor mounts, now it feels light on the clutch but at the same time bites well and gear shifts are smooth and consistent! Love em!

The only negative thing i'dasy is when almost ideling in second/almost rolling the car shudders quite alot, but that's probably partially me needing to go to first instead of dipping the clutch like I have a natural tendancy to do because the old one was so bad! LOL!

no problem Kirk smile.gif here they are. Right now I don't know if the MR2's auto mount is the same as ours but i will find out tomorrow when my EPC is back.

the auto mount is on the left in all of the pics.

notice the auto shifter cable bracket on the auto mount ^^

Kinda weird they use different inners as they are interchangeable mounts. I am running the auto mounts on my ST right now after I did my trans swap. Only thing different was the side transmission mount.

I guess I'll be doing a little bit of trimming here to make em fit.

If I were to get a set of these, how do you install them? Do you have to take out the motor mounts to get them in?

The inserts are sold in sets for both front and rear mounts.

Since you have them for the ST205, I'm assuming you have them for the ST202 (not that they are the same or anything)?

sorry I'll be more clear.
Do you do the st205 front and rear mounts ? the front is the same pattern as the GT/ST I believe so I figured you would have that. The rear mount rubber pattern is different than the GT/ST mounts which is why I asked.

?

Is the ST205 different from the ST165/185? If you can supply pictures I could probably tell you.

I'm not sure if this is inappropriate for this thread but I just got my car back from a mechanic and the idiot lost my rear mount bolt, anyone know a retailer that has a replacement or would I be stuck searching junk yards?

I don't understand why people cant comprehend the simple fact that their local toyota dealer can get them every nut, bolt and replacement part for the car.
And yes, this is the wrong thread for this.
