Dont know much about these. Is this a full satndalone, or a piggyback computer?

People say that can be used both ways. However I have used it as piggyback to my original ECU so I can only confirm it works as piggyback (and perfect smile.gif). It has 4 predefined maps tuned to ST205 plus some more fancy things (one as example useful for JDM models is speed delimiter smile.gif)

So with these 4 pretuned maps, are they there just to get the car moving until it can be tuned rightly, or is it just a plug/play and go with these maps...

Those 4 maps are already loaded and ready to use. You can just set which one is the best for you. It is like:

#1 the best setup as HKS mapped it for stock ST205

since you may have some mods and prefer bit different setting you may also choose:

#2 leaner setup (than basic map #1 is)
#3 richer setup (than basic map #1 is)
#4 even more richer setup (than basic map #1 is)

I have used it as as #1.

There are also more options to tweak. But you need to buy GCC (graphic control computer) and adjust the air/fuel ratio by smaller steps and more specific to your needs in rpm range or ask some authorized HKS dealer for this (as I know).

edit: here is info taken from other forum about this unit... I would not describe it better smile.gif

It does come a series of preloaded maps, you can get to the switiches mentioned by removing the black "face" help on by two screws underneath that is 8 switches and gaining access that way (there is also what looks like 2 ethernet ports)

Switch 1-4 are for modify the base map and 5-8 for other function as hks lambda sensor etc...

default setting is:
| 1 on | 2 off | 3 on | 4 off |

switch 1 and 2 modify the map for fueling, 3 and 4 modify ignition. both sections work similar:

map 1: | 1/3 off | 2/4 off | (less)
map 2: | 1/3 on | 2/4 off | (default)
map 3: | 1/3 off | 2/4 on | (more)
map 4: | 1/3 on | 2/4 on | (much more)

Switches 1-4 are calling variants of the base map (leaner, richer, timing advanced or retarded...) but i was not able to find any detailed information on that yet- please let me know if anyone has had more luck. In Sum the f-con v extends the programming of the original ecu in order to allow higher boost. it is supposed to bring out the optimum performance of the stock injectors and it removes limits given by the original ecu (fuel cut, jdm speed limit).
