Hey 6gc! Kinda new here so let me start off by how I aquired my celica. In the middle of Frebruary 2011, I was on my way home when off the corner of my eye, I this black peculiar looking car under a tree. I decided to stop and look at it. At first from afar i thought it was just another Integra. When I got closer, I realized I was standing in front of a 1994 gt Celica!! Im sure in the United States the 6gc must be common in the streets and in the salvage yard, but here in Puerto Rico, these babies are extremely rare! The car was left abandoned under a tree, it seemed to have been in a collision accident. I decided to find the owner of the car to see if I can buy it from him or her. The car belonged to a woman who had moved from Miami, Florida 5 years ago and brought the car with her. She and her friends were out celebrating new years eve and got hit on December 31, 2010. I asked if she was going to sell and she told me since parts are hard to come by and it cost too much to fix, she sold it to me for $250!!!!! Well, here she is.....

She's a little rough around the edges but she's okay.

She's nice and pretty until......

IMG]http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj523/6gcpr/39072724009_medium.jpg[/IMG]

Most people would run away from something like this, but after my 95 corolla got sandwiched between a 2010 Tundra and a police patrol car, im not afraid. The guy who straightened my car out made me a believer. And my corolla is still my dd to this day.

You can see my rolla from here.

The interior is good, but my drivers seat was busted beyond repair. I looked for five months until i finally found a whole seat set for a $100 bucks!

First thing I did was take the front bumper to sand it down. But the weather had been bad those days that it took almost 2 weeks to finish it.

Next came the fenders...

Then the hood...

But the spoiler was also very messed up

Not sure whether to fix it or make a fiberglass molding of the spoiler.

Got some goodies to put on my celica

My old headlights had water damage and the low beams have one broken tab each

The 5sfe is in good condition, starts up nicely, but needs a much needed clean-up.

Thats it for now, money is a problem but she will be done soon! This site has been a real huge help and I appreciate the help and advice that other members have given.

I have a lot of respect for you for what you're doing. smile.gif It's such a rewarding experience bringing an old abused, neglected car back to it's rightful beauty and you're off on the right foot. I look forward to this rebuild!

Thanks kurt! it hasn't been easy, like i said, finding parts for the car is really hard. I saw your 1mz swap thread, its really interesting.

Thanks for the comment rabidtrd. most people who see the car in my garage say that i should just scrap it.......on that note someone actually thought the car was some kind of special edition Integra!

In that case, debadge it. Get an emblem like I have for the front bumper or leave it totally debadged. Nothing will be more satisfying than having everyone look at your beauty and wonder what it is. If it's that rare of a car, people will stop you and ask... and when it's finished, you'll have a great story to tell smile.gif

That sounds like a good idea, I was looking at your car. It looks real nice, I'm trying to figure out the emblem but cant, what is it? And where did you get e-brake boot?

Yeah it's a 1st gen Celica Dragon badge from the front grille. Fits the look of our Celica perfectly. It doesn't fit the bumper perfect and will require you to make the emblem hole on the base a bit larger, but it will fit in that hole and then you drill two more holes for the upper pins and use 3m double sided foam tape and it will be solid. I've had mine on for over a year and through a winter without any issues.

If you debadge everything accept for that emblem, it's going to draw a lot of attention. I get asked all the time what my car is because of the lack of Toyota on the hood. Or someone will see the front, stare at the emblem and then walk around back and read the name, then do a double take lol. It's fun to park your car at a busy bar and watch the people stare and walk by it.

Well, right now my plan is to fix her up properly. When the car is complete, i intend to use only for the weekend rides and take her out to the car show events since my corolla is my dd and has been for 6 years now. As for a swap, im considering either the 3sgte or a 1mz like yours, but that's way off in the future since i have my responsibilities to maintain my family.
After seeing the 1gc emblem, it really does look nice, and no need to debadge the car since it has none whatsoever. Jajajaja

Get what you mean about family thing
But we work on it together as a family so it works out
So far the swap.( including the car itself) has only been 3700
Witch for a swap isnt bad

3700 isn't bad at all.that's probably what a gt4 clip goes for. So how does the 1mz feel like?

Looking good so far, hope you have her back to tip top soon. Never see the Celica around here either. I finally saw a black convertible the other day. First one I've seen in eons.

Ill have to get back to you on that one lol
Its goin to the exhaust shop thursday an ill have to see if everything is ok after that
Another option you might want to look into is a 3vz swap its still a v6 itll have more power than the 5s
Itll handle turbo much better than the 1mz an as far as v6 swaps its simpler an cheaper lol

Oh the shift boot and parking brake boot are from Advance Auto Parts. Vincent makes a nicer parking brake boot than the one I have and it doesn't require you to remove the skin off the old one. I changed out the handle, so I chopped the whole skin back and off (which I regret now because I'd like to have more uniform to my boot...)

Update: today i decided to check the fuel leak i have in my fuel tank. I taken pictures of the leak that i will post later. It turned out to be a nasty crack that leaks like a fountain. I have three choices: try to fix the leak using quick steel epoxy, look for one at the junkyard which is a no(i've called over 80 salvage yards and they don't have any 6gc's, told u this car is rare in puerto rico), or buy a new one at the toyota dealer for$ 489! Yikes!!! Soooo im gonna try to fix it first before i consider buying a new one.

With all the work you're doing to the car, I'd say just get a new one. It may cost a pretty penny, but think of how long a new one will last you!

Yeaah i know but like everything in life, money is short so i have to see if i can fix it myself first. If not, well then i'll get a new one.

Definitely try and fix first. If can fix and save $450 or more, why not eh? Epoxy should work. Could weld it, but ALL the gas would have to be gone. Would have to drop the tank and let it air out until the gas has evaporated.

Thanks. Pretty much keeping stock for now. May redo the exhaust soon. Thinking will paint the rims. Have lots of things I'd like to do, just financially limited.
