My buddy got pulled over in his s2000 last week in Glendale for loud exhaust (hks highpower). He was going 15mph tops in a construction zone(becuase of mean dips and stuff) and a bike cop pulled him over. At that speed thist car is NOT loud at all. He made him pop his hood. Luckly he had street legal AEM and DC headers. Now he has an appointment with the state ref tommow so we took it off this weekend.

This got me wondering, what if i were to get pulled over, what could happen, what will happen. I know some cops are more lenient than others but i would hate to be in that situation. Does anyone know what the laws are here in california or any state for that matter? or know where to get them? has this happened to anyone, i hope not but i would like hear experienceces if you have them. Thanks, and sorry for the long story

ive only ever gotten pulled for stop signs [my count is at 2]
they always let me go with a 'warning'...its cause im a girl laugh.gif its awesome

everyone said the first thing id get pulled for is speeding cause i used to average about twice the speed limit
they were wrong [so far]

i know someone with a civic who used to get pulled over all the time because of his exhaust
and someone with a neon who took of his catalytic converter but kept it in his trunk so in case he got pulled over he could say something was wrong with it and he was taking it to get fixed or it fell off or some ****

[i hate cops...they scare me even if im not doing anything wrong]

belongs in OT, but my brother had a Scoobyworld Afterburner Vortex exhaust on his Subaru Legacy. He got pulled over for his being loud. Of course his entire exhaust system was gutted (borla exhaust manifold, Stromung cat delete). They tested the exhaust and came up with I believe 125 (or maybe 150) Db. It would set off alarms a block away. You could hear it across town. The best part is, is that he would leave at like 4 in the morning, and would park underneath my bedroom window.... He had to put his cat back on and get a silencer.

i dont really hate cops but they do scare me though, they make me nervous even if my car is not moving.

Sorry about the mis-post. biggrin.gif Thanks for the responses people. So far no popped hoods. Thats what scares me the most, all that hard work and money. Anyone know what they would do if they found a 3sgte under the hood? frown.gif

Let's see.....

Speeding (March 96, AZ, -- no ticket)
Speeding (May 96, AZ, -- no ticket)
Red Light Running (June 96, AZ, -- No ticket)
Speeding (September 96, AZ, -- 72 in a 55, ticketed)
Speeding (December 96, AZ, -- 105 in a 45, ticketed)
Illegal U-Turn (February 97, AZ, -- ticketed)
Speeding (Feb 14 1998, CA, -- 80 in a 45, ticketed)
Tail Light (June 03, NJ, no ticket)
Speeding (July 04, no ticket) -- didn't realize I was in a 35 zone.
and the last one: December 2004, because the cop was a prick. Dude pulled me over for window tint on a car with a temp registration and was a complete a**hole for no reason. When I whipped out the fact that I'm a NJ non-resident and the car isn't registered in NJ, he tucked his tail and sent me on my way.

Yes, I was a speeder in my younger days. I quickly matured and have only been hit the once because I didn't even realize I was in a 35 zone (was doing 52) and the PA Statie was cool and let me off.

Fequently, but my two favorites are;

In the Four "I've pulled you for sounding fast......."
In a BMW 5 series "I've pulled you for driving very sensibly...."

The sounding fast I just mentioned that it was a $1000 exhaust system, and that's the noise it was supposed to make.

The BMW incident, I just started laughing like an idiot, and asked if the next time I spotted a police car following me, I should knock it down to 2nd and see if I could get the tail out round a few corners.

I live near the Blue Ridge Parkway and was pulled over by a Ranger on my way home because my license plate lights were out.

She came up to the car and said, "You know your plate lights are out."
I was like, "I have plate lights!? Sweet!"

Then I got a warning ticket. Freak...

Before that, I was pulled for speeding like 62 in a 55 in a Subaru Outback by a Trooper, received a warning.

Then pulled over by a City cop for 52 in a 35. I was late for school dang it! Received a ticket, got it reduced to improper equipment.

Last, I was pulled by a unmarked car on a back road at like 1:30am. I was asked what I was doing, I said going home.

He asked if I had any drugs or alcohol in the car. I said I have a bottle of guitar string cleaner, does that count? Nope.

Did I know how fast I was going in that 35mph zone back there? Yes, 35.

Your car looks very suspicious out this late on a back road. Sorry bout that. >_<

I was commanded to have a good evening. No ticket, 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Thanks!

i was "pulled over" a few months ago, the police was standing in a parking lot and waving in random passing cars to inspect them, and well, since i was heading for the parking lot anyway i indicated to take a right turn, the police looked a bit startled there for a second but decided to "wave" me in in the middle of the turn
so, well, three polices inspected the car inch by inch and finally declared that my license plate wasn't visible enough, they let me go with a warning...

then i was "pulled over" yet again this saturday, we were stuck in a traffic jam and a few cops that just had checked up on a little accident just next to us walked up to my friend and said
"take that ****ing spoiler off immediately!" , obviously we didnt throw out the toolbox and started tinkering with the car in the middle of the road so we got ourselves a little ticket

haha thats cute
my only problem when i was learning (according to the driving instructor) was that i had a heavy foot, she kept having to tell me to slow down. its was boring otherwise, she had me running errands for her

i drove very fast everywhere (sometimes like 60 in 25 zones) for like the first 6 months, never got pulled over for it
i drive slower now, watch me get a ticket for like 5 over cwm13.gif

I've only been pulled over 2 times, both for speeding and both warnings. I was doing 9 over on both of them smile.gif. I was doing 44 in a 35 and the other I was doing 64 in a 55. I normally drive 5 over, lol sometimes I hit 10 over in town. I've never been caught for those though.

When you're driving a long distance trip, beware of those small town that the highway passes by, it slows down from 65MPH all the way to 45MPH. If there's a school + weekday, it goes WAY down to 25MPH.

I got a 75MPH at a 25MPH zone ticket when I was driving to Mammoth Mountain for a snowboard trip.

What could I do? Drive 5 hours from Los Angeles to that lil town in that court date to fight it? Ticket was $300~ something dollars...

hmmm...lemme see i've been pulled over a few times. only once was a moving violation and that was along time ago. i was driving in my drunken friends civic and was doing like 95 in a 65 when a cop pulled me over. he dropped a few stuff like no seat belt and tail gating/passing other drivers cuz opf the fact that i didnt let my friend drive drunk. so he just gave me a speeding ticket. other tickets i got were loud exhaust, unclear license plate, and...yap thats it. lol

I've only ever been pulled over once, and it wasn't fun at all.

I just got out of classes, doing about 60-65 on a long stretch of 45 MPH speed limit about 2 miles from my house and just wanted to get home. Just as I approached a blind corner, two state troopers FLEW by me, doing at least 70+ and if you live in Jersey you know how our cops like to set a double standard.... mad.gif

I see the second trooper smash on his brakes as soon as I look in my mirror and I knew I was screwed. Of course being 2 miles from my house I knew of about a million different ways I could simply "maneuver" my way out of their path and try not to get a ticket.....and thats exactly what I did unfortunately. I dropped it down a gear, and took off to try to put as much length on them as possible, and turned down two very quiet and twisty back roads. Just as I thought they were long gone, I see a white State Police cruiser fly up behind me, almost 5-7 minutes after I had passed them. They ID'ed my car and gave it a look over, and gave me a hard time for "running" and I just played stupid and got off relatively well.

Scary for sure. Never do anything stupid like that unless you're POSITIVE that you have no chance of them finding you. wink.gif But seriously....just don't do it.

i have gotten pulled many times never for speeding but the only one that got me the worst was
back when the led windshield waher lights cam out i had a set of blue ones.
the local cops could have cared less but one night while delivering pizza's i hit
a georgia state patrol road block and they gave me a ticket
for unauthorized vehicle blue lights.
he asked if i could cut them off or if they came on with the headlights
i told him no they come on when you turn on the headlights he said
well thats good cause if you could make them blink i would give you another ticket too.
he was being an ass.
so i called the court house to see how much the ticket was and was asked for the
violation number when i told them what it was they informed me that i couldn't pay it i had to
go to court for it i asked why and he said that i was impersonating a police officer
once i told them what the lights were they let me pay it for a hundred and forty bucks

I thinik i remember reading that you are nto to have any aftermarket parts on your car that are not from the manufacturer. I have been pulled over for aggressive driving and while i was in neutral the officer said my exhaust was too loud. haha. Ive never been harassed for petty things except for no front license plate. Otherwise im usually pulled over for speeding and then they just make note to me that my tint is too dark, exhaust too loud, etc.
