The only real reason is i just don't have much interest in the car anymore. Another reason is the fact that back in the better times of the 6gc website, noobs would come in to listen and want to learn about there car, i was one once too. Now, noobs come in and want to make accusations, flame, and don't want to learn, they just want to be a presence. So, i'll take my leave, and i know everybody says they'll check back in here and there. I doubt that'll happen with my case, unless i have something go wrong with the car, and/or would like to discuss mechanics with the older members in the community. Take it easy everyone, and thanks for a good however many years i've been on here Coomer.

Okay, I’m going to speak up for the n00b community here. I don’t think you can label all n00bs as bad members, or flamers etc. Yes, that said, in a community so large, not everybody will be perfect, or to your liking. Everybody here has to start from somewhere.

I just have to say, I’m a “n00b”, but I do my part in providing as much info as I can to this site, along with helping out in any way I can. Such as tons of research on JDM tails, and getting 20+ members together for a JDM tails GB -- and saving each person about $40-$100 on their sets from Toyota in Hong Kong.

<------- Just look at my reputation if you have any doubt that any n00b can be a great asset to this community.

Keep in mind, we are all n00bs here in someway. Even at the moderator level. For example, Manny has even called himself a n00b sometimes, this place is to have a great time learning about our awesome cars, and to share our knowledge with others!

Sorry to see you go.

i've been a member about the same amount of time as you and i'd still consider myself a noob. i'm here to meet people who are willing to help/teach me because i'm interested as well as to just hang out and talk to people who have the same interests. we all have something to learn and honsetly i could care less about those who are here for reasons other than learning and helping. if your here to learn then thats what you should do, dont worry about those who aren't.

sorry to hear your leaving. someone will always be here to help if you have problems smile.gif

Unfortunately, not everyone who comes or joins will fit right in or will be a likeable member just like in any population, theres gonna be something or someone thats just not in the same boat. But thats natural, and it could make life hell but sometimes perhaps even interesting. Well take care, it'll be nice to see you stick around.

I can understand this guys frustration completely, it seems like there's this large group of newcomers to this site who ask the same few questions over & over again.

There are a handful of people here who are really smart, have dedicated a lot of time & effort in to informing people about the 6th gen. The other 95% are just 16 year olds whose parents bought them a Celica, and they're wanting some ebay HP.

I blame it on our cars - they aren't very responsive to mods or tuning, so any of the more hardcore/serious tuners tend to stay away. We wind up getting a bunch of kids who ask 'what if' questions, instead of people starting good threads.

If you take a look at the content of these forums, in comparison to MR2OC, you'll see exactly what i'm talking about in terms of tuner to noob ratio. Some of the stuff I've seen on these forums makes me embarassed to own a 6th gen, to be quite honest.

Good luck, spunky.

I think that is what he's talking about.

Don't get angry because most people on this forum can relate. I've lurked on the forum for a long time, and I have always appreciated what many members have brought to the forum. As of late however I have noticed a trend towards questions that have been answered many, many, many, many, many times before. I'm not going to argue whether or not these posts have been made by newer members, but I think for the community's sake we would all be better off if people consult the SEARCH function before posting.

but that's one of the reasons why people of this site are so awesome. no matter how many times a noob asks a question, there's always someone to answer them instead of flaming on them and insulting their lack of knowledge. btw, is the original poster even reading any of this?

Well it's not really the newcomers fault for asking the same questions over and over again. Becuase they aren't, it just seems like they are becuase your looking at them as one large group instead of indivisuals. There will always be newcomers to this site becuase 6GCs are going to be sold and bought by new owners all the time.

People NEED to wonder "what if". If nobody ever wondered "what if", then we would never improve. There's a first for everything, and people make mistakes and learn from them. We all start somewhere, and we were all curious at one point or another. Asking questions is what it's all about. That's what real people are for, becuase they can get this information from books or the internet, but people need help from other people sometimes. It's better that people ask questions and try to learn, rather than them pretending they know everything.

I can't say that our cars are the best car out there to mod, although, it's not a bad car if your willing to put the time and work into it. All cars have potential. It might not be easy to see sometimes, and even i've almost lost hope before, but i realized why i chose my car in the first place. It wasn't to be the worlds fastest car, or to have the most horsepower. I was just a kid who loved cars, and wanted to meet others who have the same interests. I think many people lose sight of that when they start competing who's better. And people start looking at the differences without even realizing we all just have a passion for cars.

I will be here to help with whatever i can. Even though i still have a lot to learn, it doesn't mean i can't help others along the way.

Ahhh...The good old days when i used to post on here everyday. I miss talkin to K2Celica, Ghostdog, Cragspider, just to name a few. Ive seen this place change a lot and ive seen a lot of people grow egos as their knowledge grew (not gonna name names).

Like ive said before...if u got nothin to say except for "search button" then dont respond at all please. EVERYTHING has pretty much been covered, so there wouldnt be a point for this forum if new people werent askin questions.

Well, most people come here because really they don't know much and we can't blame them. I think I used to do that but since I grabbed more knowledge since then, I don't mind helping out another who asked the same questions over and over. I think if that didn't happen we probably wouldn't have anything to talk about anymore. For example, if we asked all the questions there is about our car, what else would there be to talk about. I think we should just give a helping hand no matter what goes on. Just keep it chill and friendly.

honesty........... is there any question sombody hasnt asked...thats what this site is for learning and if you were supposed to only ask a question once then this site would not be very big at all becuase each thread would die as soon as it opened if no one knew the ansewer .. but maby two monthes later a person wo is very knowlegable on the subject might just join the for and be more than willing to help a fellow 6gcer on a previously unknown subject......people learn as they go which is why there is somthing called new information.

if you guys can understand what im trying to say....

so you guys ask your dumb questions...we are a family and will always answer.......even if the only response you get is use the search function...lol

Idunno...It´s kinda hard for me to judge anyone, since I´m still pretty new to all of this on the site and the forum, but I am sorry to see an (obviously) valuable member leave because of the "wrong" reasons.

I agree that there are a lot of dumb people (not only) on the forums around the globe, and that they are asking a whole bunch of questions, while not really interrested in an answer, but running from them never solves anything, since stupidity usually tends to hunt you down all by itself...and then...?
Instead, you ignore these idiots, and dedicate your time and thoughts to people who r worth it...and that´s about it!

My personal experience with forums in general was that they sucked big time (especially in Croatia), since kids aren´t really interested in modding for true performance and/or style, but rather spend their money on their free time (read; drinking, doing dope, and trying to chase some skirts), and then (with their stock-momma´s cars) have the nerve to try and teach me about stuff that they "know" in theory.
That could be a reason (one of few) for going away from a forum, but I don´t see that 6gc has that sort of problem...I really don´t!

Anyway, It´s all up to you...
Greetz!

Boo-urns....good quote, I caught on. wink.gif

On a serious site, if theres something bothering you about the site by all means contact a moderator or Coomer, the administrator. Like Jeff said, reporting rediculous posting to the management is a good way to ensure that things stay in line here at 6GC. Don't hold back from voicing constructive criticism that could help the site improve.

Heres the bottom line about a community like this....There's always going to be senior members, new members, young and old, mature and immature, the know-it-alls and the truly informed, the people who are here seeking knowledge and those looking to make a quick buck and take advantage, and the list goes on.

What everyone has to realize is that this is a huge conglomerate of people from all around the world, all different walks of life and not everyone will get along. By being here we all recognize that we share one thing in common despite anything else, and thats the love for the cars that we drive. The best thing to do is that realize that it's only the internet, and we're all here to enjoy our hobby so why make life difficult on eachother?? Treat eachother like family and try to help whenever possible, and the respect and knowledge you'll draw in return will make you enjoy your hobby that much more and put what you learned to good use.

When you look at the other forums out there, 6GC stands well above and beyond many and most sites I've seen. So the more we all work together to make it a place we enjoy spending time, the better off we all are and the better the site will continue to be.

i apologize for my "Noob Stank" angering you. Ill try to tone it down a bit. I wasnt aware that it was that bad. I love my car, i love all the cars on here, so i joined, and like all the people on here. Its a freindly atmosphere, and enjoy learning new things about my car. As far as im aware, i havent flamed on anyone, and really dont intend on it since ive always been more of a "lover" and not a "fighter"...but anyways...if your gonna be like that...

nevermind.

Just understand people... that when you ask questions, expect dejected responses sometimes because most of the oldies have heard it all before. We all try to be civil... but the tone of your question, how you ask your question, your research, ect, can all be seen. I know it pisses me off when you don't really ask a question, but ask for an opinion whether something is a 'good' idea. We've pretty much heard it all... so don't ask looking for someone to support your idea... instead, expect them to tell you realistically how it is.
