I have a gt30 turbo with the manifold and exhaust housing thermal coated and a st205 inter cooler w/ hks 265 high lift cams, 255 fuel pump, 9.0 to 1 je pistons and a hks fcon v pro that still needs to be installed. still deciding if I should use the inter cooler and what size injectors and intake manifold? shooting for 650hp

I dont think using the stock GT4 intercooler is a good idea, It will not withsatnd that much power, you will need a FMI for that much power, and an intercooler that flows good and does its job correctly, I am going for the 1000 cc top feed injectors, you cant go wronge there wink.gif as long as you have an ECU fully programable.

you don't need a FMIC for his 650hp goal...you can do it A2W intercooler...but it would need to be an aftermarket unit...stock supports ~400hp

Of course you can, was just saying if you where to use a A2A intercooler it would have to be front mounted.
Do you have any info about the 400HP celica with stock intercooler, I dont think It would last that long if there is one.
I have a Race intercooler and is only Good for 350WHP.

Come to Think of it is there anyone using a L2A intercooler with this much power? I think it would be much more efficient (shorter Piping) and also maybe a bigger radiator.

What do you think? Good!

For street use and moderate power, A2A is great for little maitnance and reliability. For Massive Power and definite drag use a W2A can cool much more effectively, Ice can be added to the resivoir to make the water that much colder. I've also seen one setup where a guy was running a mixture of coolants with very low freezing points and dry ice(solid CO2) in his W2A resivoir tank, his intake temp was below freezing, but he wasn't running too much boost to begin with and he was just doing that "just because"

Ok so I ordered the pistons and rods, I went for the 86.5mm pistons, because I dont want to take of too much of the cylinder block walls as the st205s wall are thinner than the old generation. wink.gif

Ohh and I also ordered my suspesions. biggrin.gif pics below

Alan,
Does RMR already make 3rd gen intake manifold for Celica setup?
The A/W IC set up is nice but almost every alltrac owner I know that is pushing that much power goes with FMIC.
You might have heard of Pat C. in south FL.
He ditched his TTE w/a setup when he was ~400ish awhp.
IIRC, he was running in high 11s-low 12s with that setup
He is now pushing ~600+ awhp with his stroked 2nd gen with a huge a/a FMIC.
There is a glimpse of his black ST185 in SCC mag. this month.
Hopefully, he will be in the USCC this year.

Thanks manfor that useful info, ironically today I was talking to a friend of mine and the A/W setup is efficient but for a very short time, as the water heats up very quickly, I decided to go with another FMIC with aluminum piping for better cooling and wieght.
RMR does not make intakes for 3gen, but I will be fabricating one my self when I have all the parts I need, smile.gif. My taget BHP is 650BHP still not sure how these engines can handle high revs, I hope with these rods and ACL bearings I can push the 9000 range :s

do you poop money?
HKS's biggest turbo and their wastegate, that's more than my entire single set-up right there. . .

the T51R is gonna be real laggy on a 2.0L i'm guessin, based off the #'s supras put down w/ it, and it's fairly easy to guess rpm of spool by their power output.

*edit*
just read u want 1/4mile. . .
that will do if you do cams n such...but beware that although you may stay street legal, driving it ON the street is going to be something else

the turbo i have is good for 600bhp like 500whp so I can tell ya that its fine on the street. extremely fun. you'll just be down shifting often when you want spool up and take off. i dont have 500 whp lol but its very streetable with cams and larger turbo.

I speak to ismet a lot he is a good friend of mine, but he is running a GT35, the T51 spl is like a GT42 size wise, its a beast .

QUOTE(x_itchy_b_x @ Apr 29, 2007 - 7:57 PM)

the turbo i have is good for 600bhp like 500whp so I can tell ya that its fine on the street. extremely fun. you'll just be down shifting often when you want spool up and take off. i dont have 500 whp lol but its very streetable with cams and larger turbo.

How much boost are you running? and when does it start in the rev range?

well it's a holset hx35. its right around gt30 area. full boost of 1 bar at before 4500rpm.
its slow to spool at first, but once it makes it to 5psi it shoots up to 14.5psi alot quicker.
and with cams it just keeps making power all the way to 8200rpm (thats my rev limit anyway, it safer to go higher but meh)

I WAS GOING FOR 9000RPM DO YOU THINK ITS A BAD IDEA, WHAT BEARINGS ARE YOU USEING, ARE THE RACE SPEC?
I THINK THE T51R WOULD BOOST AT AROUND 6000 BECAUSE OF ITS SIZE :S I NEED IT TO REV MORE !!!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

for 9000rpm race bearings would be a good idea. also shimless buckets to lighten up the valve train would be a very good idea. also a higher volume oil pump. having the rotating assembly balanced would be good too. thats a pretty high rpm. ive seen plenty mr2 3sgtes run 8500 with just valve springs but 9000 is getting close to crazy biggrin.gif

I'm on a stock bottom end (for now) and head. Just cams and valve springs.
Cant wait to see your build up.

or shim your stocker, theres a thread on the forum about it somewhere.

TO Say the truth I am still thinking about which turbo I need to get but not alot of people are giving me ideas of the turbo. I think I will be going the GT35 like Tufy, as he is the peoson who is helpign me out, and dont want to buy a too big Turbo and I will have no power at low RPM.

If anyone could give me more ideas It will be much better smile.gif

Definatly Grade A tongue.gif, I am investing to beat the Honda Integras in My country and some cosworths the record for quater mile drag is 10.6sec (FWD) for the honda and 10.2 sec (4X4)for the cosworth and they are both street leagle, If I can break the 11 sec barrior I will be happy as out cars are not light and the honda that does 10.6 is a 1990 civic and striped.

Hi Alan,

do you need a custom aluminum made fuel tank pickup for your A1000 ?

It's the one I used for 2 month when I had the A1000 too.

Feed line is AN#10, return line is AN#8.

MCS is a big forum vendor at mr2oc and they are great. we had a communication issue but the job they did was immaculate. id recommend them again just for being a 3sgte specialist.

Oh, I'm not knocking you for not doing it yourself at all. Definitely anyone who does it for a living (MCS) would be the better choice. Just get her up and running soon with some vids and pics biggrin.gif !

Ok guy huge change in plans hehe, I am not sending my head away I am going to do everything myself, ill be more prode of the result.
Here what i am going to do Not using the motor I sold it in fact, Ill be using my 3rd gen 3SGE with alot of custom work incuding inlet manifold ect, I am still using the parts I have now.
Next week ordering clutch, timing belt gasket, All HKS, have one slight dilemma, What F**king Transmisson should I use, Will the mr2 LSD tranny be the best choice I currently have the S54 but there are no clutches for it, there are but small diameter, I want power so hence larger diameter
Also ill be using the standar head for this as the cams have longer durations and higher life smile.gif
I need some good advice before ordering my clutch!!!

From the mr2s' I've seen use the s54 tran. but they're output is around 400 whp. I would believe it would work for the extra 100+whp you're wanting.

The clutch is much smaller than that of the E153 and it is lees durable :S

interesting plans alan.
i would go with the e153, not so much because of clutch size (its only 11mm diffrence between the s54 (225mm) VS the e153 (236mm) but because of gearing.
if your planning on tracking the car (which i hope you are) you'll be better served by the e153 gearing.

The gearing isn't that much of a difference. You need to remember that the EU/JDM S54 tranny has a smaller F/D (3.9xx compared to the US 4.2xx) thus effectively having longer gears.

"Tracking" I would assume he means Racing the car.
