I descided that today I was going to replace the rotor on my front drivers side so see if it would get rid of the evil noise that the car has had for year. So i get down to the rotor and It seems impossible to get that thing off. laugh.gif I sprayed the back of it with some wd40 *making sure it dosent get on any boots cause it will eat em*
and i used a hammmer and some wood, i was pounding on it for an hour, and still no dice.
Anyone got any tricks?

I already put it all back on, i didnt find what looked to be a peace of sandpaper that was rubbing on the side of the rotor, but when i put it all back together it was still makin the noise kindasad.gif . kinda sounds like if you put a some sand in a bottle and slowly rotated it, Its hard to explain wink.gif

Also i was wondering if i needed to replace my pads, they looked liek they still had a good quarter of an inch on em, there wagners that i got a year ago.

I replaced all four rotors about a month or two ago, my 2 drivers side rotors were impossible, but if your not going to reuse that rotor, put in some ear plugs and go to town, seriously, i must have pounded nasty style for a half an hour before they came off, but they will come off...good luck!!!

heat the rotor hat with a torch and use a heavier hammer, have a buddy hold the wood and use a solid hits with a good follow through, as if you were swinging a bat.

On the Brake rotors themselves, there should be 2 random small holes in between the holes for the Studs. They are tapped so it looks like something should be screwed into them. Well, this is exactly what they were designed for. You will need to get 2 long bolts (about 2 to 3 inches maybe longer) that are the same thread as the hole on the rotors and screw them in, the will hit the spindle and therefore creating leverage against the rotor, and therefore the more you turn them it will slowly take them off. You should turn them evenly to take the rotor off evenly. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-99-TOYOT...sspagenameZWDVW

here in this picture you see the holes im talking about, This is an aftermarket rotor, and im not sure if your's is stock, but Im pretty sure stock rotors have them too. Let me know how that works out for you.

Hmm, now i just gotta get the screw and it should work out pretty well.
I should prolly jsut get a rubber mallet instead of using a hammer and wood, i thought i could do without spending more $.
Iv also come to the conclusion that the sound is a bearing kindasad.gif . I thought they were only high pitched sounds, but upon researching more it seems they can make the gravel like sounds to.

While i was down there today I also saw this IPB Image
I was reading something bout rubber stoppers they put on mr2's in shipping from japan, and then that caught my eye.

IIRC the bolt holding the brake line to this bracket fits in those holes

yes, two of the four bolts you removed from the caliper should go into the two holes.
