It doens't give you any increased power, but by decreasing the weight it's easier for the engine to rotate essentially giving you slightly getter acceleration..

7afe and 4afe are the same just make sure its the 6-bolt flywheel and not the 8-bolt one that comes on a 4age

as far as 7afes and 4afes go ive only seen 6 bolts. as far as 4ages go you could be right, i assumed they were all 8 bolts.

if i were you i wouldnt bother....lightend flywheels only make your car rev up faster..with the regular flywheel you have more of a moving mass which in the end helps...if you can understand what i am tyin to say...its an extra 300 you could spend elsewhere and get more out of your car imo

Is the stock flywheel better for fuel economy then? This is my goal (94 ST).

this is my opinion.

lighter flywheel = less rotating mass
less rotating mass = less inertia
less inertia = less energy wasted to get the rotating mass moving
which means that energy can be used elsewhere. like moving the car
theoretically you wont notice it except in lower gears
where internal resistance of the engine are greater(compared the what the cars weight is) due to gearing && torque amplification.

so yes, fuel economy/performance will increase SLIGHTLY

correct me if im wrong.

i personaly think that the light flywheel wouldn't be that bad if you have supporting mods(i/h/e)...i have a fidanza flywheel for my s13 and it seems to be pretty good for top end...there are arguments on you'll lose torque if you do the light flywheel, light underdrive pulley but then again idk....i say go ahead and do it because that's how you'll know if you like it or not.......if this is your first mod i don't think you'll notice much difference though...
