Anything's possible, but swapping in a 3S-GTE would be a much more sensible swap. A 2JZGTTE is gonna weigh a lot more than your current 2.2 liter 5S-FE, cost a lot more, plus that's a lot of power for a front wheel drive car(Though I'd imagine that if you did the 2JZGTTE swap you'd convert your car to all wheel drive.) The 3S-GTE would swap right in to your GT and can be made to put out lots and lots of power too.

I agree with coomer about the weight issue... also there would be problems finding a transmission that would make it all wheel drive... would probably have to go with just rwd... also do the 3sgte swap... there are actually a few supras that have swapped out the 2jz for the 3sgte

lol it seems like a rwd converson would be insane, you would def be the burnout king i mean all that weigh up front and no weight in the back.. insane biggrin.gif the 3sgte is a heavy engine to i heard becuz of its cast iron block. i just got a magazine called banzai its printed in canada and britan and japan and theres so many gt4's and corollas in there. we have a butt load of hondas here but in all those places toyota owns

Haha it'd be a tight idea if u had a buttload of money to throw away. My best friend did a swap on his 95 supra from NA to TT and we were thinkin about trying to put his old NA engine in my car but after a long discussion with the owner of our local shop about all the crap that i'd have to do to my car i decided against it. U might as well just buy a supra...

I'd rather get a '93 Supra WITH the engine than put it in my Celica. No offense to you guys, I mean, I love my car, but driving around a 320HP Supra is cooler than driving a 320HP Celica.

Imagine the possibilities of having a Celica with 320 horsepower(whether it's a 3S-GTE or a 2JZGTTE, 4A-GZE, etc.) and a all wheel drive or rear wheel drive conversion. You'd be such a sleeper, and so much faster than the Supra because of the weight difference(assuming you stuck with the 3S-GTE and modified the drivetrain so that the car isn't front wheel drive.) biggrin.gif You'd roll up to close-to-stock Supras on the street and you'd smoke them!

Ever check out the 1JZ-GTE.

That would be a nice swap to the 2JZ!

I agree with coomer and neverstop. It's sounds like a cool idea but the weight would be a major factor. there's probably 1000 pounds difference in weight between the 2 cars. The celica would definitely be faster for the 1/4" mile. I'm not sure about top speed. The celica has less weight to carry. Think of it like this "which is harder to carry a feather or a brick?" Go with the 3S-GTE

the Top secret supra takes part in the JGTC which have 300PS and 500PS classes.

The 2jz would be a over kill.

But to efficiency in structure and power, the 3sgte was choosen.

Also, the 3sgte sits way back in the engine bay, giving the car a 50:50 weight distribution.

Please also note that the 1JZ-GTE appears in the Toyota Soarer, Mark II and the Lexus GS or LS 300 or so.

To put it this way, it is the @JZ little sister.

But if I where you, I would go with th 3SGTE because of weight and parts.

http://www.speedtoys.com/~marcel/ta23/1jzg...gte/1jzgte.html

1JZ-GTE
Weight (complete) : 217kg
Specs: 2491cc EFI DOHC 24-valve 6cyl twin turbo
Power: 280ps@6200rpm
Torque: 362Nm@4800rpm
Gearboxes: RWD 5-speed and 4 speed auto
Vehicles: Supra 2.5GT 91-93. UZ30 series Soarer

3SGTE
Power: 260ps@6500RPM
Torque: 310nm@4000RPM

As you can see, the specs are almost the same. Not much difference. The 3SGTE will or even be light to the 1JZ depend an a all aluminium engine.

Either way, the 3SGTE can get close to that figure with a little boost, proper tunning, exhaust, Ignition Controller and other little things, etc.

Nice isn't it? wink.gif

If you want a show car, go for it. If you want an angel seeker, go with 3SGTE lightly or heavily modify.

Check out my profile for more details

yo homes, you whack, swapping a 2jz would be cool but it would be a mad waste of money, even if it is great show engine- its borderline insanity.

Hi

Is the 2JZ-GTE bigger (in size) than the 1JZ-GTE or is it about the same??

if you had the money and could do everything by you self (with help from friends at no additional cost)

would i be feasable?
and how reliable?

what would you guys say it should be?
2JZ-GTE og the 1JZ-GTE?

Cheers

Are you a mechanic? Do you have a shop that you have access to for weeks at a time? Are you or your friends a machinest?

If no, then forget it, they're equally rediculous.

then by all means, try it; but make sure you have a daily driver for say, 6 months. If you have all that stuff, it doesn't matter which engine you pick really- you'll have to cut up the firewall, the sides of the car, etc etc either way

Try the thread below. Its a "sticky" at the top of this forum:

Why the Supra TT swap is not feasable.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM)

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Hi Again

how come then BMW can fit a really BIG Inline 6 Engine into the E46 M3 (E46 3 series Coupé)??

i mean, that engine bay is shorter the the Celica's, right?

A 3 series is a big bay. Yes the hood size is about the same, but the M3 sits way back whereas the Celica is right there after the window. Again, read the "why a 2JZ is impossible" thread and know why no one out of 2700 members has ever tried this. This is a pointless topic.

Just put NAWZ in your car and get a Vin Diesel mask and when you blow your engine up scream "NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWZZZZ!"

Be sure to film this and send it it for fnf3
