The below engine may be in the near future. I have a 94 GT with the 5s. What else will I need? Will the stock cooling system be sufficient? I believe the 5s tranny bolts up correct? I would upgrade the clutch obviously. Also a new exhaust? Love the celi and just looking for a reliable engine with the great sound of a bov!! comments welcome

Im not even sure, but does anyone know if the MR2 version will work without adding a radiator when converting it to FWD?
Anways does the awd tranny even bolt up to stock mounts>? Sorry to hijack your thread. |

5S tranny would fit.
Donor car? If its a car you should have everything you need. Front clip should have everything you need. Just buying a motor, you be missing a lot of parts. |

it's not a clip, just the motor and all the accesories listed above (sensors, injectors, ECU, etc.) also, do the motor mounts line up correctly or is there some modification involved? I'm pretty sure it drops right in to the GT correct?

OK, next BIG question... is it possible to keep the A/C when doing the swap??!! very important in FL as a dd.... do JDM 3s have A/C? (sorry, maybe a stupid question)

I am doing a swap as we speak. I have been doing it a little at a time. I took pictures of most parts that are needed for the swap.
I am also keeping the gt ac. check it out http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=52205&hl= -------------------- ![]() |

Thanks komar. looks good so far, I will be following the post. After some research, now I'm not sure if I want to do the 5SFTE??? Although it seems it would be more reliable, upgradable, (and a little easier on my pocket) to do the 3S swap.... I'm going to think long and hard..... ok thought about, 3SGTE here I come!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing yours complete. good luck

OK, here's what I am seeing:
Complete Engine, Harness, ECU, Trans, Intercooler, Sensors, Injectors, Etc... 86-89 3SGTE = $1,000-$1,350 90-93 3SGTE = $1,350-$1,800 94+ 3SGTE = $2,300+/- Do these prices seem accurate or a bit high? I've decided to go with the 90-93 which I belive is 225hp+/- (which is plenty to satisfy my immediate needs). Stock ECU, stock intercooler, blah blah blah. I definately want to break to 300whp eventually but no time soon, I'm sure it will take time to gather the parts. I've read the stickies and ALOT of other posts. Any words of advice before I embark? I enjoy wiring and am willing to take the time but I don't want to regret anything. Should I just fork over the $500 to have the wiring done? looking forward to this fun project... ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by cv7713: Oct 19, 2007 - 11:17 AM |

ok heard ya... just don't really have the space for a front or rear clip and would like to avoid the extra charge if possible . if not, I will get the clip...
komar, did the injector resistor pack and fuel pump resistor come with the engine or did you find them seperate? anyone else have any experiences buying a complete engine with or without the clip??? also if you had a good purchase experience, who you used? QUOTE(cv7713 @ Oct 20, 2007 - 12:52 AM) ok heard ya... but please explain how that will benefit and justify the addional $$$$ for a clip? if the engine I buy includes the MAP, AFM, coil, fuse boxes, uncut harness, etc what else will I need? excuse the ignorance, never done this before and I can't find anywhere where it explains the pros and cons of getting a clip. also, I really don't have the space for a front or rear clip and would like to avoid the charge if I could. anyone else have any experiences buying a complete engine with or without the clip??? chances are you will wont get enough parts, lagos is right the clip always have what you need and what you dont so you can sell whatever remains to recoupe some money...it is also easier to do the compression test (pretty important) on a clip. You might also get radiators, fans, gauges, calipers (if ur lucky)...etc... Trust us...we have been down that road before!! -------------------- ![]() 98% completion --- aaRon |

you want a celica st185 clip. not an mr2 one. the mr2 clip will make things even harder.

Yeah, if you have a GT then you can swap over all of the brackets and accessories, so that's not too bad. If one was really stuck on getting an E153 then an MR2 engine set or clip wouldn't be a bad idea, if they had a GT. The harness is a little harder to convert, but that's generally not the problem of the person doing the swap anyway

So as long as the swapper owns a GT, by swapping all the accesories and bracket over, the MR2 rear clip would be a better idea? I mean cheaper right, if your not going with the lsd.

*IF* you're stuck on the idea of using an E153 tranny, yes, that probably would be the cheapest route. But you still need three things: the parts to convert the tranny linkage to FWD format, ST205 mounts, and the custom axles. At the end of the day, it's almost a wash (with an ST205 front clip, you get the axles and mounts you need and the linkage off the AWD tranny).
