I work at a video store that sells used general movies and new porn as the assistant manager. It is actually pretty good, especially while I go to school. Laid back, no drama, I can do what I want. I can throw people out whenever I feel like (though I try to be a nice guy). Anyways, it actually has health benefits, except vision, IRA (retirement), and we get our bonuses. General movies at 30% off, adult movies at cost. It isn't really a career job, but it's not that bad.

Financial Analyst for the past 7 years for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, which resulted from the recent combination of Northrop Grumman (NG) Newport News (the nation's builder of the Navy's nuclear aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines) and NG Ship Systems, which is located in Mississippi and builds all the other ships for Northrop Grumman Corp. NG Corp has eight business sectors. I work in Newport News, VA.

"Northrop Grumman Corporation is a $32 billion global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide."

Just putting this out there if any of you future college graduates are looking for employment. Obviously, this is a huge, successful company, and the business sectors are scattered all over the country.

I work as a production supervisor in an electronics manufacturing solution company here in Toronto. Around 40 old chinese men and women (mostly women) under my supervision. Not a very stressfull job on the start of the month but month end really does give me a lot of stress due to qoutas that need to be shipped out. Imagine thousands of different kinds of electronics products that needs to go out. Scheduling on this kind of jobs doesn't work out too well coz of parts issues, machine issues and other kinds of problems that might occur. Pretty much easy at the end of the day after I assigned the job to everybody I just sit back and watch them.

for 5 years i worked as a short order cook/dinner cook. it was great! i know all too well about the comfy checkered pants, but sometimes it got hot under the chef coat. pay was great too. $14/hr at good ol' disney. sometimes it got so slow at the bar, i just sat around in the back and chilled with the stewards. plus it was mandatory that we taste test everything we make biggrin.gif

I work for America's tire/discount tire as a tech. it's a pretty easy job once you get the hang of it. And getting to work on cars is fun, I just wish I was making more money. I also kinda wish we did other stuff like brakes and shocks so I could gain some more experience for my later career. which, btw, I'm going to school for automotive technology too, and want to be an automotive technician.

I work at my grandfather's law office...

annnnnddd

I HATE IT. I do nothing 90% of the time. I went to school and have my Paralegal Certificate which was not easy to get and I graduated with a 3.95 GPA. So right now I'm wasting skills and I'm bored. I don't get any benefits other than my gas being paid, but that doesnt mean much when you have to pay $400/month for health insurance. I get paid A LOT less then I should too... I have not received a raise in 2 years.

The only reason i stay is because i feel guilty, i mean this IS my family.

So in the Pennysaver there were two adds, one for a Legal Assistant and one for a Legal Secretary. One is in an area that pays very well, so I'm really hoping for that one.

Up until a short time ago I ran the receiving dock for Taser International located in Scottsdale AZ. Responsible for all raw materials and equipment entering the company(plastics, electronic components, equipment, personal packages.) Mantained cycle inventory for Raw warehouse and Production. Kept records and resolved problems with invoices. and performed duties and tasks associated with just about every other dept in the company because i had access to all locations on the premises. Loved working there, lot of fun lot of good people and a good company. but it came down to being understaffed and underpayed for duties performed.

currently work at PING in Iron Grinding dept. a job to pay bills in the meantime. looking for something a little more lucrative, because i also love cars and auto culture and that aint cheap haha! laugh.gif

Toyota tech

QUOTE(SeverX13 @ Feb 17, 2008 - 6:29 PM)

Currently i am living the dream of a taco bell crew member (haha not a dream AT ALL)

but i will be going to UTI in houston for automotive

we'll see where that takes me

I suggest you look around for other automotive programs and see if they're better. I'm not guaranteeing you that you'll find something better, but I highly suggest you take the time to at least look [unless you already have].
Most of the techs I've seen that came through UTI didn't get much of an education, they slam too much information way too fast, and it also can be more expensive than other schools.

I work for the worlds largest manufacturer of concrete making machines. the company makes the machines that make concrete, then we sell our parts to other companies who actually make the concrete products.
I run a 3 axis cnc machining center that will mill, drill, tap, countersink, and burns every part out wuth a Plasma Torch, capable of cutting up to 2in thick metal. I really like my job, i get to use huge fork lifts and use over head cranes, i get great benefits, bonuses, and pretty d*** good pay.

My job rocks because when my machine is running i just have to stand there and make sure it doesnt blow up or nothing, so i have alot of free time to, figure out my fiances, text message people, eat, fall asleep:) you know whatever.

But i am tired of working in the industry i am 20 and already have back problems because i've been working in industry since i was 14, so when next fall comes around i am going to start taking fiance and investing classes so i can get out of this trade and start working as a full time investor/ working for a mortgage company

Used to work at a 'yota dealer as a porter/detailer but got fired cause I called my boss some nasty things on the intra-nets (Xanga)... It was a dream job, kinda... I was hoping to be there long enough to get my dream car and maybe move up in the world... yeah, that changed....

I have been working at the Ford dealer across the street for the last 3 years-ish as a light repair tech/lube biatch... Its a decent job, but money sucks... Its funny because they always make pages whenever Ford beats Toyota at something... sad to say but I enjoy Ford's direction overall compared to 'yotas... I guess I'm just tired of all the family oriented crap that Toyota is coming out with, meanwhile other companies are puting decent time and money into performance cars...

Maybe one day...
