JDM tails are easily bought off ebay. They are much cheaper than they used to be, some already in the 100's range. They used to be in the 200-300 range.

Yeah i've already looked at ebay. Sellers on there want $160 + $75 for shipping. I'm just trying to find a better deal.

Thank You, They don't call me a Mad Scientist for nothing. I wish it came with the engine, I have the Superstrut but its missing both knuckles and calipers.
So if I can get ahold of those parts yes I will do the Superstrut.
Next is painting the engine bay World Rally Blue Pearl with tons of clear

if you havent already you need to swap over the top bumper mount from rad support of st205 .. it is raised

in the middle for 205 bumper and hood .. this might be dumb question but why didn't you just use st205

rad support ..?

i needed a rad support for my st205 and ended up finding a st205 empty clip and drove across country to

pick up just to have correct bumper mounting and i wanted orginal part to fix st205

Because I bought the st204 rad support and fixed the car before I ever thought of doing the st205 swap.
No big deal I can change just the top brace

So you are actually doing the awd conversion too? Btw nice project going on. I'd love to do a right hand drive conversion. but it seems pricey.

Of course..I`d love to take my four around the states. I was just curious as to why somebody would want a RHD car in a country that uses LHD...It just seems to be making life hard for yourself for no apparent reason...but if its just to be different then fare enough....was just asking. smile.gif

great new pics, congrats!

glad to see #2 in the states of RHD conversions, I find it ironic that they are both on teal ST hatchbacks (or in my case what once was teal)

Btw TheMadScientist: make sure you bolt, clip and screw down all interior plastics like OEM - if you don't, things will be rattling once you get it on the road.

crazy! i would love to have a car like yours! here in canada, people dont find RHD very attractive. i didnt know it would be different in USA. if you had a LHD GT-Four up here, everyone would love it! RHD supras, skylines get bashed all the time at car shows.

Yes I made templates and was thinking about making a couple of sets if anybody is interested. I've been doing custom automotive fabrication for over 10 years. As far as my toaster is doing great unlike the last one that caught on fire and burnt my hand so I threw it outside and smashed the crap out of it! laugh.gif

PM me about the crossmembers.
im TOTALLY down for a set.

i think its pretty fair to say the whole 6gc community has been waiting for someone like you to set up and do this.

this brings the "possibility" of gt-4 conversions into reality for ALOT of us who have been pondering on it, but not knowing the right way to go about it.

VERY well done, major props from me!

I will build and sell the crossmembers for $500 a set. But as far as the templates go I can't release them.

So the crossmembers will have the channel and holes ready for the rear cradle to bolt onto?

What gas tank are you going to use?

The crossmembers will be completed with threded holes. All you have to do is weld them in your car and bolt in the cradle.
I found a gas tank at a local junkyard out of a ST165 for $25

I would like to thank everybody for the complements!!! Even though this is my first car project, I've been building 4X4 rock crawlers with custom suspensions for years.
So custom fabrication is no stranger to me and believe you me rock crawlers go through so extreme abuse

well I would like to thank you for your contribution to give us gt-four lovers to turn a dream into reality.

How do you mount the gas tank with the rear floor pan missing. Is the tank aluminum? Are you going to use straps? Brackets to hold it up?

If he's trying for that oe look then the tank is a must it fits perfect and he can still have a spare tire... he'll need to move to bolts for the straps to line up though noting big

Like I said on the last page, I allready have a gas tank I got from a ST165 for $25.
I'm getting rid of the spare tire well and closing it off with sheel metel.
I'm going to use the straps that came with the tank to hang it under the car.

The first ever GT4 was a convertible....a 165...but as far as I know only one was made to go around the car shows....after that they were all hatchbacks.

If you are going Custom, there is some hacking involved.
Plastic wears out too. Gas is quite a solvent.
None of the swaps I have seen with a fuel cell look at all well done. thumbsdown.gif

I would say a Real gas tank is the way to go.
Or spend the time and money to do a Custom AL and make it look decent.

Any other progress photos TheMadScientist ???

Never form the factory, except maybe a concept or a show car ?

There have been some custom jobs. Such as a 5th gen
Rear sub frame..

I did, I just forgot that you had the hatch since there's already a couple GT-4 conversion threads...and I automatically looked under your SN...not that big of a deal.

It's welded just enough to keep from falling out.
I'm going to run it up to the alignment shop to make sure its nice and square before I make it permanet

Nice, thats what I use now in class.

Do you think Rav4 parts would work for an awd conversion?

Don't know haven't seen the suspension on one.

What did you use to cut the spare wheel well with? A plasma cutter?

What lines are you using to run the fuel? I would assume you would have to extend the lines correct?

Are the channels in your crossmember threaded for the bolts to hold the cradle on, or did you weld on a nut onto the channel?

The cross members will be fully welded to the frame rails. The back one was easy the front one was not. I don't know about the exhaust haven't installed it yet.
