Ok, so here's my project...

The plan was to get Toyota to fund our dealership in making a Scion tC into a race car. The owner is getting a little antsy in waiting for them to get back to us and wants to start doing something now and if Toyota gives us money we'll make it into a full on race car. I have to bring it to an event that is being held by Scion, the deadline is March 20th. Then if we get the go ahead from Toyota the first event is in April.

The Car:
2007 Scion tC
Flint Grey Mica
5spd Manual
has about 2,900 miles on it

The proposed transformation:

Parts on Order (for now):
TRD Supercharger and engine cover
TRD cat back Exhaust
TRD Quickshifter
TRD Lowering Springs
TRD 5-Spoke Wheels in Black
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 Tires

I'm not used to having to make things so flashy, my car is very simple and thats the way I like it. I think I need some ideas on how to make the tC stand out more...

cool. I would love to build a race car again. Last race car i built was a tube chassis K20 powered 92 civic hatchback drag car. I think that paint idea, the TRD parts, etc look good. What type of racing are you gonna be doing with it? Grip, time attack, drag??

Looks good, I like the color scheme. The side profile has a widebody. Do you guys plan on going widebody as well?

Stef, how "race" are you trying to make it?
I'm guessing more focused on the show than the race? [TRD supercharger is quick, but not beastly fast]
Have you thought about the interior at all?
Would Toyota fund any non OEM stuff?

Very good starting point & parts .

Looks like a good idea, not totally riced out, but tasteful paint scheme.
Unlike a pink S2000 that was in a movie. laugh.gif

> I think I need some ideas on how to make the tC stand out more...

Weight reduction doesn't cost anything. Remove the rear seats, any extra trim,
sound deadening etc..

For a Crazy drag look... Roll cage ? Wheelie bars ? Parachute ??? laugh.gif

Have you looked at what the Professionals are doing ?
( If you are looking for $ from Toyota You've got competion though; like Christian Rado.)

A rwd dragster look ?

Good Luck on the Project ! tongue.gif

it's supposed to be for drag racing

I don't think it's going to get too crazy. I already told the owner this isn't going to be a 12-13 second car like he wants, for that we would need to go into the aftermarket turbo kit world. We won't have a super high budget for this, if Toyota gives us money for aftermarket parts it won't be much. I do want to make it eye-catching but still subtle. We are trying to sell things so everything needs to be readily available and easily dealer installed if need be. Weight reduction is definitely in the future plans.

We started installing the supercharger today. Probably finish that up tomorrow sometime. The exhaust is already on. I can knock out the shifter pretty quick.

That will be an expensive 14sec car. I hope they give you guys the thumbs up for a turbo setup.

We finished the supercharger install and reflashed the ECM Thurs morning. Throughout the day the tech I'm working with mounted and balanced the wheels and tires. The same night we both painted the calipers and installed the springs. Last on the list (for now) is the quickshifter.

It's got just under half a tank of 87 in it. Today I will probably go pick it up from work and drive it nice and slow to run all the gas out, then put 93 in and beat the crap out of it biggrin.gif
