I tried with a degreaser and many rags and toothbrushes and barely made a dent in the grime lol. The only thing i can think off is steam cleaning. i know you have to protect all electrical components. Is this the only way to really clean your engine good? how do you guys do it. i have a feeeling ill screw something up if i steam it

I used engine degreaser aerosol from autozone, at the carwash late late at nite... fumes were lethal* make shure your engine and manifold have cooled to the point you can touch and not burn. wait the 10-15 min like the can says, then hose that sucker off good/ DONT spray your fuses, plug wires, or any other electronics in the bay*
i say late at night because im pretty shure its frowned upon to have those chemicals running down the drain ![]() ![]() so tree huggers dont even get on my back about this! ![]() This post has been edited by boosted95: Oct 3, 2008 - 8:41 AM -------------------- |

Once my engine cools, I just use regular dish soap and rags. Once Im done scrubbing everything, rinse it off with water(obviously), lol then go at it with Armorall rim cleaner(catch wutever dirt u missed), let it all drip off. once that is done rinse it off one more time. Dry it off and wipe everything down with Orange glow to give it that factory shine. grabb another dry rag, wipe everything down one more time and u should be good to go. I recommend only doing this if ur fully detailing ur car for like a show or something. I do it every Saturday because I'm bored and and have nothing else to do. JUST LIKE FIELD DAYS baby. lol.

Simple Green works wonders for cutting through all that grease.
