Greetings!

My name is Brock aka Overkill. I have been a member since 2004, but have not been a regular visitor until recently. I have decided to start a journal to capture the 6GC journey I am about to embark. Some of you might know me from the chat room, some of you might have met me back when HTC was formed, and some of you might know me as Matt aka Death's Brother-n-Law. Back in 2003 when I was working with Matt I bought a 1990 Supra 7mge auto. I really loved that car even-though it was a "turd". It was a pain in the ass, but a lot of fun to drive. I believe my max speed on the car was only 118mph, but it was still a fun car. Matt has always had a celica, ever since I met him. Hell, I've even been in an accident with Matt IN one of his celicas. Seeing the progress he has made with his newest has made me decide to follow in his footsteps.

I have been looking over the last month or so to try to find the right Celica to begin the journey. After a long search, I believe I have found the one. She is a 1994 GT 5-speed. She is Turquoise Pearl and has 186k miles. I am going to Austin Saturday to test drive, but I am almost positive that I will be bringing her home with me.

I decided to keep this journal for future enthusiasts who want to see the progression, so that they too might become part of our family.

Ideal Future upgrades: Stereo (I believe it does not have one at the moment)
Alarm ( also believe that it does not have one at the moment)
Tune up & Tires (possibly rim w/ tires)
Windshield replacement (has a long crack in wind shield)
Suspension (FSTB, RSTB, Coilovers)
Breaking (Drilled & Slotted rotors w/ Upgraded Calipers and SB breaklines)

There are a ton of other modifications I plan on, these listed above are on my top priority. (Ofcourse... Saturday has to get here first)

I will take pictures on Saturday, and keep everyone posted. Wish me luck... Im sure I will need it!

Alright. I found a couple of celicas here in dallas....(where I am now), and the first one was the ST. It had a very nice engine, but the body was completely ragged out. I called the guy with the GT at 3:15. He told me that he had to go get a guy from the airport, but that if I could wait till 6:00, he could show it to me then. We told him no problem, and headed for the mall for 3 hours. I called him at 6, and he told me that he was still at the airport, that his friends plane was late. I was waiting in the car and received a text message from him about 20 minutes later saying that the car was sold. Supposedly when he got home, a guy was waiting with cash.

TWO TIMES in ONE weekend, I have been stiffed by jackasses! Maybe I am just not meant to be a 6gc family member.

So the beginning of my 6gc journey has been a rocky one to say the least. I still have not even been able to get a celica. In turn, I have been saving money for when the right one comes along. I felt the need to splurge a little on the Tacoma though since it will be used to haul the celica I do buy, or any parts for that matter. This Friday, Matt (AKA Death) and I installed a NSSRI (Not so short ram intake). Its so nice! No codes, no problems, and got to spend time with my bro. Pictures are here... and also a little TRD boost gauge teaser pics...

It seems like it has been forever since I got onto this website. So I guess it's time to update... I have had the "itch" for a very long time now. I still do not have a celica, and I still have no prospects. I would probably be a lot closer to the dream if I hadn't gotten married and bought a house... but oh well, my wife is awesome... and I have sex often. LOL!

So I am currently driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Some of you might have seen it, some might not. Either way, I'm sick of 1) the car being automatic, 2) the car not being fast, and 3) the amount per month I pay.

I have decided to save up to buy a 3SGTE ST215 Caldina Clip. I priced one yesterday at $1600. My plan is to work on the engine and tranny until it is ready to be transplanted into a vehicle. The vehicle is up in the air at the moment. I am either going to install it into my corolla, or buy a celica and install it into that. the most important thing to me is getting the engine.

One of the issues I have is, if I install the Engine... should I get a different 5spd transmission? If so... which transmission should I be trying to get? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. (As far as I remember, an "S" transmission should bolt up to the 3SGTE motor... )

What vehicle has the S54?

I found this...

S54 - A 5-Speed Manual Transmission. The shift cable levers on the Toyota MR2's S54 are located on the front of the transmission, whereas they're located on the rear of other S-series transmissions.

Toyota MR2 Ratios:

First Gear: 3.285:1
Second Gear: 1.960:1
Third Gear: 1.322:1
Fourth Gear: 1.028:1
Fifth Gear: 0.820:1
Reverse Gear: 3.153:1
Final Drive: 4.176:1 (EU Versions have a 3.944:1 Final Drive)

Applications: Toyota MR2, Toyota Celica, Toyota Avensis

If the Shift cable levers on the MR2 S54 are in the front, does this mean that if I went with the S54 I would need to get a Celica or Avensis model S54 so that the cables are on the rear?

Not positive on if the MR2 s54 would work, but for my swap I'm going to grab the s54 from the celica GT version.

S54 has lsd available. mr2 spyder lsd will work.

but the e series it a much beefier box and can handle the extra abuse better

Bit pricey for the LSD for the S54 if I remember correctly. Whereas you can just get the E153, as you said, handles more power, and comes with LSD.

The only issue I recall from the e153 was axle issues. Which is why I opted for the S54, I snap an axle or whatever, I want to be able to easiely replace it.

That would definitely be a plus, but if I am dropping this into my 10th gen Corolla... will that even be an issue?

Not all of the E153 transmissions come with a LSD. mine did not, but i bought the open diff E153, and then a LSD. tore it apart and installed the LSD, and in the end it was about 400 bucks to have an e153 with lsd..... well worth it, hell i could sell it tomorrow for well over 600. but i do have an s54 trans if your interested, and it will go cheap

I have officially embarked on my journey. Took WAY too long to get here, but I made it. First thing I need to do is find and buy a new seat belt. It seems that the seat belt on the driver's side has been modified to be shorter. NO! It is NOT because Im a fat ass! lol!

So today I swapped out the original antenna for the Honda S2000 antenna. This was a very simple switch. Below are a few of the links that led me to completing this swap.

http://www.6gc.net/howto/install_s2000_antenna

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/107-camr...-your-comp.html

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...49281&st=20

IMO there are a few ways you can do this swap, but I found one that worked best for me. First, I went to the salvage yards and picked up the 2000+ celica model antenna for $20. I bought the Honda S2000 antenna mast from Ebay for $19.75 +3.75 shipping. I took the rear panels off, took the old antenna out, then put the new antenna in. Once the new antenna was tightened into place, I screwed the Honda S2k antenna into the new antenna... done. No glue, No tape, and no splicing wires. The old antenna would not extend, and I dont like the look anyways. The Honda S2k antenna gets better reception and looks way cooler! I think at some point, I will probably put some "loc-tite" on the threads so that nobody can steal my Honda S2K antenna.

1st - Admin, Will you PLEASE move this thread to the Project's forum? Thank you in advance.

2nd - I am having some trouble making decisions. I am going to be getting Rotors & Brake pads via ebay in the next couple of days. I am having a bit of trouble on what else I should order. I am 90% sure that I am going to order a Injen Short Ram intake with the heat shield. I have been thinking about getting Exhaust Headers, A muffler (and take it to a muffler shop for the piping), JDM tail lights, 3 Point Front upper strut brace, Rear Strut Brace, 20mm Spacer, Tinted Windows, JDM Kouki Seats, an SS-III Spoiler, GT4 Front Bumper, ect. ect. ect. ....

There is so much I want to do to my car I am getting dizzy trying to figure out what I want to do. I am honestly thinking about trying to be as practical as possible. I am thinking that I am going to get the Rotors and Brakes, Intake, Exhaust, Spark Plugs, Wires, Cap and Rotor, Change to fully Synthetic Mobile 1 oil (cause I dont know what oil is in there now), and save whatever money is left over for either Window Tint, or paint job. Please let me know what you guys think.

This is the Exhaust Muffler I was considering. If you have better alternatives, please let me know.

First thing is to bring maintenance up to date, then I'd say go with tint. I wouldn't bother with paying the extra for synthetic oil, Super-Tech conventional from Wal-Mart will suffice. The Injen short ram is a waste of money, if you just want the sucking sound grab a $30 eBay kit. The only setup that might(strong emphasis on that) gain power would be a true cold air or ram air setup. A header really won't do much, but make for raspiness in the exhaust note. I'd only replace the muffler, if again, you just want the sound. If you really want to replace the OEM muffler I'd look into something that has baffles in it, such as a Flowmaster. Unless you enjoy the bumble bee sound, then by all means get a straight through muffler. For what the strut bars would cost you'd be better off getting lowering springs and new struts. Let's be honest here, you have an economy engine with a slushbox behind it. All you have are looks and handling, so work on the car's strong points. Anything "performance oriented" short of turbocharging or swapping is a waste of money.

I should also say, don't take any of that the wrong way. I'd hate for you to spend $500 between the intake and exhaust only to end up sorely disappointed. Especially when that money could go towards suspension or cosmetics, and do a lot more good.
