Just saw a thread alike this on a UK celica forum under generation 7 celica's. Found it pretty funny to read.

I'll start out wink.gif

At some place i lived earlier, The neighbors kids was like "Wow, is it a porsche?".

When i go to some drag racing places, People always love it, I had my drags with it wink.gif. I only was racing a BMW 325 vs my 3sge. it won 1 round and i won 2 tongue.gif.

Anyone else got some stories to tell?.

Dont worry, Its very arranged, At an industrial area with volunteers with self lighting vest's making sure there is no one racing with any "civilists" in the area wink.gif

We are fighting hard with the goverment from all areas of the country to get some legal area's, Untill then, We will just have to arrange it ourself (Many many thousands if you include the whole continent), There have never been any persons harmed in the 10 years in the whole country. So i wouldent worry smile.gif. I only dragged once, Mostly watching biggrin.gif

When people says "street racing" i think people misunderstands it as some guys hanging out in the city racing from one street light to the others. I understand why people dont like that, I dont do it either. But those arranged street racings, Long away from any civil people and with people with walkie talkies making sure everything is safe before any cars drag hegother, I think its perfectly okay.

Most people who attend to this stuff in Denmark, Does it because we love cars and have a passion for them. There is idiots out there who drives too fast, On the websites with cars and stuff, People have the exactly same opinion as we do, if they see a video with people racing wildly in the cities they also tell them they are unresponsible

Back to topic please bowdown.gif

Street racing is a taboo because it takes a certain mind to appreciate it. Most people here either don't have means to do it or can not afford it or just simply repeat someones words. Yes there are irresponsible street racers such as 15 year olds who just got their driver's license and cant drive in a straight line let alone handle anything faster than a kia.

Street racing is no more dangerous than a teenager who is driving and texting or a soccer mom who multitasks or a half asleep guy who is weaving all over or an old person who cant even see above the steering wheel. When done responsibly street racing can be fun and safe at the same time. It happens all over the world and it does not matter if its bikes, cars, scooters, horses, camels, bicycles, pogo sticks... as long as you put 2 men with 2 sources of transportation... you will have a race.

I do not recommend street racing but I do support it. After all that is why all of us want to put power modifications... to go faster than the other guy... ideally a lot faster.

When I was washing her, a guy walked by and said "Wow, dad's letting you wash his car huh?" That was a pretty big compliment.

But opinions seem very much polarized; either people compliment or say "WTF, it's just a Toyota...no big deal."

I get compliments everywhere I go. All my coworkers and boss drool all over my car. The other night after I installed my splitters I rolled to in-n-out and there was a meet full of hondas and nissans in the next parking lot over. As soon as I parked my car a crowd of people walked over to look at it bickering over whether or not its a supra or an 8th gen celica smile.gif

And the other day at the golf course where I work there was a guy standing there looking at it in the parking lot. I went up and talked to him and he said he used to have a '76 celica liftback and it reminded him of his car and complimented my car saying it's the most beautiful celica he had ever seen smile.gif

The only time I ever get complements is from Honda people(for some reason IDK), a few older gents every once in a blue moon. I understand though, it's the down side of living in Cincinnati.

I was in the 2nd to left lane on the freeway today (right by the hammer lane) going about 70mph and a G35 came flying up behind me and slows down right next to my car. There was about 6 people in the car and I swear all of them had there hands against the window and were just STARING at my car and pointed at it. I just kinda laughed, and after about 2 mins of them cruising next to me, they took off again.

SO many people have no idea what kind of car mine is. It's funny. laugh.gif

i will list only some of the dozens of compliments i get almost each week, no kiddin
Just after paiting my car, it all started....
-On my work, 2 guys entered asking for the owner of the car, i was like,, "that would be me!" they said,,"that is a fu&&*ng sweet ride!"
-My boss used to tell me, "your ride is nicer than mine", "did you came walking,,, oh sorry i forgot you have the cool ride"
-an old lady came to me and said "boy you have a really nice car, my husband loved it but he didn't had the guts to tell you" lol
-The first day i was washing the car, a guy passes by and says " nice supra man!" i was like okeeeeei.
- on a car show some gangsters passed by me and said "your car owns the show"
- on my past job i saw at least 8 guys take pictures of my car, 3 old men, and 1 little kid lol
-Guys ask my coworkers if they know the guy with the GT four and tell them to tell me "your ride is awesome"
-at least 9 guys have tell me my car is a supra, 4 of them have even argue for a while.
-like 5 guys have asked me if that is the newest model of the celica, i am like "i wish"
-NO KIDDING ON THIS ONE BUT 4 guys and 2 old men have come to my work just to tell me how much i want for it!!!!
i am likee,, do you see a sign on the car or what?
- Also 4 cops have stopped me to compliment my ride, and they dont even give me a fine, one of them followed me almost 3 miles
just to see it wasnt right hand drive lol!!!!
-A group of Bikers ride along me for 8-10 miles giving me thumbs up!
-i have got to know 4 girls thanks to my car, all of them said they used to have one (show me pics of them). two of them
told me to give them a ride anywhere just to remember their car.
- Gosh even cats love my car!!! if i leave it outside there have been 3 cats sleeping on top of my car!!!
-i will mention this but 2 cats where having sex under my spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i will stop right here since i think you will say i a liar lol
but no kidding guys i have received tons of compliments on my car

oh and forgot to said,, when i go to mexico i feel that i have a sing saying "LOOK AT ME"
oh and hondas guys love meee! lol almost all the hondas i find next to me on a stop sing
want to race me for no reason, hell even one time a guy on a NISSAN GTR stopped next to me and said " what car is that" i said
"its a celi" he says "where can i get one of those?" i am like "i have no clue" he says " so it is rare huh?"
i am like "kind of yeah" then he wants to race mee! WTF!!! lol

It's funny that I always get compliments from people of all ages. "Is that a latest model?" "Is that a Supra?" "Is it twin turbo?". rolleyes.gif I ask my friends with expensive cars if they ever get compliments and mad props and they tell me they never get any and that they don't even turn heads. Isn't that weird? I've driven by people behind let's say an M3 or ZO6, and they totally ignore them and stare at my car. I look in the rearview mirror and they're still staring. Sheesh, that was when it was black. I bet now with all the carbon goodies and the blue paint job, people won't leave me alone. tongue.gif

We have an old, cheap car, yet people don't know it and they think it's expensive and fast. I'm cool with that. biggrin.gif

When we bought our house last year the Celica got neglected since I spent all my time working on the house. When I finally got a chance to wash and wax it my neighbor came out and asked if I got it painted. He was like "wow I didn't think the paint looked that good, I thought it was just faded and dingy"

Otherwise the most comments I get are just that it looks good for a car that's over 10 years old, or that it looks faster than it is.

I've gotten the occasional "Nice Supra" & "Nice ride man!" This older lady stopped me just to tell me that she likes my wheels. That's about it.

I'm cool with that. biggrin.gif

If I didn't "know" you, I'd call complete bullspit on that. I've never had that experience.

People in FL don't seem to care..maybe they're spoiled by the rich snowbirds with Ferraris (at least in the south part)?

Worst one was "is that a Tiburon?" thumbsdown.gif wanted to slap him in the face for even mentioning that POS car.

All the time, Celica's are pretty common over here but not the GT-Fours, so it turns a lot of heads when I drive by, I suppose the bright red paint job helps too lol. Get quite a few comments, pretty much always positive.

i will list only some of the dozens of compliments i get almost each week, no kiddin

WTF!!! lol

WOW ur car must be awesome!!!

-one old lady asked me... no told me i must have a great job to be able to afford such a car (thought it was a latest model)
-rolleyes.gif some one said nice supra
-kid in a rental minivan (tourist) used his disposable camera to take a picture of the car, lol
-guy asked me if it was for sale recently, even though the car hadnt seen a wash in months.
-etc.

biggrin.gif

I was in the 2nd to left lane on the freeway today (right by the hammer lane) going about 70mph and a G35 came flying up behind me and slows down right next to my car. There was about 6 people in the car and I swear all of them had there hands against the window and were just STARING at my car and pointed at it. I just kinda laughed, and after about 2 mins of them cruising next to me, they took off again.

SO many people have no idea what kind of car mine is. It's funny. laugh.gif

MAybe ppl think it's a real GT-FOUR cause of the blocks and the badge?. mine's debadged and when i drive "a little hard" (shifting at 3500 rpm) imports always gun it beside me like im racing them.. like wtf i dont even have a fart can leave me alone. ANYWAY:

some middle aged man saw my car BEFORE it got painted. asked me if it was 2003 or 2004 model. LOL i said 94 and his jaw dropped. Went to drive my friend to mitsubishi dealership and 2 of their dealers came out asking me where i got it. 1 of em actually asked if it was the real GT-FOUR. I bet Kloudkicka gets a whole bunch of compliments.

Gotten the usual is that a Supra, some rednecks in a truck stopped at a light, yelled "Now that Celica is a one good looking car" with maybe 3 teeth in his mouth, last (final time) i took it to a shop got compliments from all mechanics on its cleanliness for age.

Do get alot of turned heads and such, but I stay a constant route most the time, and I think they are getting used to seeing me now =P - Considering i'm the only one in Greenville that actually has something past stock. All the other 6gc's are older ladies...drives me up a wall.

Saw a beat up ST the other day selling for 1800. Rear panels were all dented, and had a bit of a oil leak...but came with 17s =P - Didn't purchase it myself, but saw it driven away by some....illegals..thats a nice word for th at.

You know, Celicas are cheap cars. But it's cool having one and having a hot lady ride shotty, because the other guys get jealous. biggrin.gif

It's even cooler being female and driving your own sweet GT-Four, making the "other guys" jealous.

I haven't gotten many comments yet, but I sure do get a lot of odd looks - including a few hilarious double takes.

I get the most on my HID lows and fogs. I pull up to Autozone or Checker and they always ask me where i got the bulbs and how much it cost. I tell them they are HID and they are always disappointed that they arent super cheap, plug and play.
The hatch spoiler (rear window visor) usually gets the attention of WRX or STI drivers. Theyve told me that it makes my car look "nasty fast" or "mean."
My 5th gen mirrors also get attention. I was in to have my car aligned after putting on new GR-2's and Sportline springs and the guy at the desk asked if they were stock because hed never seen them on a 6GC before. He said he liked them and that it was a good swap.
I usually dont get rubbernecked or have double takes. There are a few 6GCs around and they are either driven by old women or ricey douchebags that recently came north from Arizona.....

I think the double takes I get are largely related to the fact that I'm female and driving a RHD car. I guess people don't expect it.

For me I am the only celica that is fixed up JDM style so people look twice because theyre not sure what kind of car it is. and to be looked at by the JDM tourists is a compliment. Where I'm from Japan tourists is one of the highest in the world.

another day i was waiting for a friend at mcdonalds and sit next to the window to see my celi smile.gif then a heard 3 guys and a girl talking about what car was that when suddenly one of them stand up with his celphone and started to take pics next to me. i looked at him and he laugh, then my friend came, we ate and went out when i opened my car and looked back the others guys were laughing at the one who took the photo and he turned sooo RED haha lol

Last Tuesday I went to Joliet for work boots. On the way, a blue Celica GT passed me.
Nice Celica!!
When I parked, a guy across the street knew it was a 6 gen, but not year.
He asked if I was restoring it. When I said I want to " make it a decent driver " ,
He said " Man you got your hands full!! "

Comments; most like that.

I get nice comments from the guys I work with, mostly cause they know how much work I put into her. I did have an odd conversation with the cop who came out to make a report about the damage done by the neighborhood kids. Talked quite awhile about it, he used to own one too. Of course get the looks from the DSM and Honda guys as Im cruising down the road. And recently the Macco guy gave me some pretty nice comments as well.

i finally got a compliment on the streets by these older folks!!!
they asked what year my car is and that it is really nice.

the downside? i was driving my girlfriends 7gen GTS action package... kindasad.gif

so for the close to 7 years i owned this car i got maybe 1 or 2 compliments and the 3rd day girlfriend owning the 7gen, she's already getting compliments? i guess i'm a little jealous frown.gif

I get comments on my car occasionally. One time I was in my driveway working on my car, and these kids, they must've been like 10, skated by and were like WOAH, NICE CAR! It cracked me up, they said it like it was a Lamborghini or something.

Another time I was in my driveway working on my car, and a guy walking buy stopped and said "Hey, nice car. A girl, working on her car... that is SO hot" and I just smiled and said thanks.

I get comments at gas stations here and there too, by the attendants (it's illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon lol). And two days ago I was driving home from work, stopped in traffic, and noticed a spray-can primer black Integra next to me, with a FCUKED up bent rear rim and was thinking Ouch, that SUCKS. Well the guy saw me look at his car, so he did the "Oh, YEAH... " nod/smirk to me, and then revved his car up so I could hear his crappy little fart can muffler. So of course I returned the favor with a deep growl of my exhaust. He smiled and nodded approvingly. lol

Quite odd today... I dont usually get much compliments while driving but today was a totally different story.
Driving home after work i turned 2 heads checking out my car and driving infront of me trying to get a look at my front end.
A motorbiker giving me the thumbs up. A chick in a Suzuki Swift Sport eyeing my car out.

And last thrusday a teen blonde eyeing my car and eyeing me haha. Good times good times.

Well since I fixed the collision damage, she definitely looks A LOT sleeker. I've been turning heads at least once a day now. And I purposefully parked next to a Supra the other day to take a picture but then the owner walked out and looked at my funny.. so I chickened out aha.

haha that is ballsy of her tongue.gif
there are literally NO 6th gen celis around me so my car is always being noticed lol. I get "dude is that a supra" all the time...because people are retarded lol. some times I just go along with it tongue.gif

But constantly people ask, hey man sweet car how fast it go?, or wow that thing must be fast! I used to tell them the truth when i first got my car... ya know how the 7A is the freakin slowest car ive ever driven lmao
But now (i get alottt more attention with the invader kit) I bull**** people and tell them, yeah i got her up to 180 and its a twin turbo, or never topped out lol (people are so gullible)

And at stop lights people always want to race, and ill rev up and with the intake and exhaust even my 7A sounds BEAST and people say nah u'd blow me away, or ill tell them you dont have a chance tongue.gif and....they believe me. Except some dick that owns a ferrari that I have seen twice (his parents bought it) and hes like "nice car..NOT! ****in piece of ****!" and obviously im not going to race him lol, but i do wanna get out and beat his a$$, just cause he has a mommy and daddy car that he put no effort or work into >:o

Dude, same here. "Hey is that a Supra?" Is the norm noob question. "Go get in your sissy Supra" is the normal teaser from my friends. Hahaha

Stinkeye, Gooseneck, Compliments. I think I have heard it all. People who are into cars will make a compliment. Everyone will gooseneck but rednecks usually scream something indistinguishable and I just rev engine in their face or scream back something sarcastic.

The other day i was at outside my work and i saw some guy in a MR2 parked next to me staring at my car, i walked over and asked him if he liked what he saw and then we talked for awhile about cars but it was still cool.

some guy in a modded civic is always talking about cars with me when i see him at my work,

some dude in a BMW was trying to race me one day as i was going home, kinda flattering i guess.

I live in Lansing Michigan there are hardly any imports in the city let alone convertibles and i make sure to keep my car clean (especially when it snows). I'll get kids in Pontiacs or neons who try to race and people who always try to ask if my car is fast....3sgte on the way lol

Dont know if this falls into the "comments" catagory but usually ppl ask me what kind of car i drive when i happens to be talking about things automotive related ppl tend to ask me....

"so what car do you drive"

And then i respond...

"a celica"

Then they always say....well 90% of the time they say

"oh"

In New Zealand there are very few gt fours around.
I have had people ask is that a celica ? or nice bonnet and bumper.
When driving, my celica seems to turn a few heads too.. (:

Went to pick off some spares for my dads vehicle at a garage the day before yesterday and a group of natives surrounded the car as i pulled up. After i was done with chatting to the shop owner and went to my car,t'was still surrounded with the guys asking me what car it was. There's just a handful here in our little country. I told them it was a celica. So i got into the car, started it and just when i was about to pull out, this dude approaches me with a smart look on and face and asks "Boi,power steering??" .Yer,so i nod and roflmao right after i get past them.

Hey, well I live in the Caribbean(west indies) on the Island of Nevis from the federation ST.Kitts & Nevis, look it up on google maps,
My island is just about 36square miles. I have one of three ST205 and there is one ST202 on the island, only one of the other two ST205 is running, but my
celica???? boyyyy it turn some heads biggrin.gif
I don't drive it through town that often but when I do, guys who are sitting on the side of the street stand up, I can see the person driving infront looking in there rear view mirror, persons passing on the other side of the road looking down at it and giving me a thumbs up. lol oh on a daily basis some random person would just say, "yo d boss!, dis an big ride yuh gat yah!"(a lil caribbean accent for ya haha). Girls tryna get with me just to get a ride in it, guys roll up at my car parked outside where I work and begin snapping photos with their phones or digi cams. Just recently I came outside the job in time to see two fellas just staring away at my car, so I approached and said" yuh want it fi buy nuh?" he responded " me no got dem kinda money deh, what is it a supra?" "nah!, a Celica" biggrin.gif
