Right on bro. Glad to see you doing your own work and doing it right. v3 will be a beast I'm sure and black is, of course, the sexiest color of all for any GT2/4 tongue.gif

Mine is black with a slight blue pearl and metallic flake - makes it look like used motor oil when it's properly washed! IMO that blue-black can't be beat.
It's actually an Acura color. The only thing I will say bad about it is it gets dirty VERY easily.

UPDATE TIME! good news and bad news:

the good: motor is up and running! tru boost hooked up, and from what i was told, @19lbs, tire PWNAGE in 3rd gear.

the bad: Car is fluctuating in temp. goes from hot to cold often, and under different driving circumstances. small leaks found and fixed, under pressurized system, car was still overheating. lower radiator hose is only warm (and able to be touched by hand) all other options (flushing system, checking for blockage etc) have been done, thermostats switched and tested, the water pump is BRAND NEW from toyota, so i doubt thats an issue...

it was found that fans werent coming on when they were supposed to. Upon further inspection temp sensor for fans is only a 1 pin, its supposed to be 2. god willing with a new sensor, this overheating problem will go away.

anybody have any other suggestions?

if its getting hot when your going into boost, and your sure your coolant is full and burped properlly, could be a headgasket leaking.

That TRU boost gauge is sick. I wanted one so bad but cheaped out and matched my set and just got regular AEM digital boost and a mbc, still wish I got TRU boost. You have some serious testicular fortitude spraying your projectors like that, turned out real good!

thanks for the compliments guys! and come to find out the problem is actually the head gasket! the car pulls like hell, but alas, no drivin for me! its disappointing, but i dont have that scripture in my sig for nothin!!!

im actually looking forward to getting back in and taking it apart, i'll get to apply what i learned again, and im a tactile learner so... its good and bad. just pissed that certain motor companies arent on the up and up.

i havent put them in yet, was going to wait until car got back. and honestly the whole lighting level is fine by me, i saw what everyone was talking about regarding the necessity to level off the beam, but im not going that far and messing with it. it'll be ok wink.gif

and mak, i was nervous at first, but i got sick of being scared to fix the car all the time, so i just went in and did it.

hey quick update, since last check there were overheating issues, come to find out that its a bad headgasket... upon further investigation, we find THIS:

come to find out that JDM PLANET sent us a BAD MOTOR as you can see in the pics, the cylinder walls are damaged a bit. what you cant see from the pics is that it had several leaks from the headgasket, and was apparently beat on and run in that manner.

JDM PLANET refused to cooperate, and basically were stuck with the bag.

the good news is i managed to get a hold of some ARP head studs which will do some good for a good price.

The block and head will be going to a machine shop to be honed and surfaced etc. hopefully that is all that is necessary and no boring will be needed... if so its either new pistons/rods and bearings (which doc said he had a feeling he wouldnt be happy about when he sees them)

Doc and cam have been great, and ive gotten the opportunity to do some hands on work, so that is the best side to this neverending story!

hopefully my car will behave itself from now on... fortune should be on my side for this year i pray!

(and YES i was tempted to just throw some aftermrket rods and pistons in there but i just dont have the $$ frown.gif ) unless somebody got some 3rd gen pistons/rods they want to lend biggrin.gif

another update, found out that my block does need to be honed and in addition, we find that it needs to be bored. Through a contact in the land down under, Tweak and cam found a set of JDM ST215 oversized pistons! the block will be bored 20 over. will be keeping the stock rods.

hopefully it will be running by aug idk though...
