Use a little imagination here rolleyes.gif

today I marked up how much I need to trim off the fender bottom edge and also the tubular part of the lamp on the bumper.
The idea is I wont need the middle lamps so I can have 1 as a air intake and the other to be flushed out.
The fitting of these lamps will be more aerodynamic than the stock ones and best of all, these are clear lense and have projector halos in them B)

it's a close fit. Good luck with this !

Its a projector halo lamp for a dodge neon. You just need to cut away some of the fixing brackets and it's less chunky so very easy to fit behind the bumper.
This is only made possible because I have fibreglass wings which I need to trim back a little.
It has everything you need in 1 cluster so I am going to do away with the middle high beams and the ugly rectangular indicators at the front.
Its so much better imo and will make the gen 6 look so much more cleaner.

I was literally thinking about using the Dodge neon projectors because i figured they'd be cheaper the 6gen projectors. Looks AMAZING! $130 for Neon projectors compared to $600-800 6gen projectors. How are you doing to neon wiring? I'm curious about that

$130 for these? Or for stock ones?
yes 6G projectors are ridiculously prices.
Wiring is easy. Just cut the wires and extend them to the outside lamp locations remembering which one is high, low, park likes and indicators.
Just buy your own plugs and rig them up.

wow thats different!! not sure what to think of it yet.

remember that the 6gc projectors have a glass lense thats why they are expensive. I believe toyota decided to keep our headlights glass (instead of plastic like the 93+ Supra) so that it would be a classy look and feel.

Just ebay SONAR 03-05 DODGE NEON HALO
Yes we make fibreglass wings (front quarters).

ON second thought last night I mite not have to cut back the wings a bit but leave it sitting behind the wing like in the picture but I still have to trim the bumper tubilar lamp bit out.

thank you!!! yellowchinaman. yeah after looking at this thread, i reconised your name and profile pic, and was like " wait, i just read a thread w/ him talking about making some realy cool arow part for the front under tray" then looked you up on 6gc here, when i seen all of your threads about the TOP NOTCH replicas and 100% fit.. i was like "DAMN!!!! why do you have to be all the way over in london, and me poor!!" lol.. all that to say that after reading this i looked you up and seen all of the cool stuff you make and have made availible to us here on 6gc, and noticed the "wings" smile.gif.. oh and was trolling ebay last night too (after seeing this) and i think i would go with this set

upon further inspection of your OP pic i would think that you would be able to fit it w/o having to remove anything from the front quarters. (as you are now considering) im hopeing that this is true, as i have the factory metal ones.
how are you planning to hook up the additional lights? looks like that top section is for oem turn signal? (in the neon) perhaps put our turns up there too (w/ LED "bulbs", nice since when they are off they are clear/white, so they dont leave an orange reflection in the housing) and give us our OEM section as a new vent or to block off/fill in.
as far as the LED's and halo' i was thinkinig of just having those on a switch, or perhaps even having the LEDs as turn... hmm idk, so many difrent options with this..

Thanks for the compliments.
I'll keep this updated whenever I do get a chance to do more work on it but that doesn't happen often as we have a workshop to run and we don't get much time to do our own things.
Regarding the stock turns I may just mesh it out. But then again I have a Varis front and I'm trying to make the car as aerodynamically better so having them as vents wont really help.

YEAH!!!! great idea!! i was thinking about somthing along those lines my self wile thinking about the evo9 headlight pods that house the fogs in the headlight housing it self!!
perhaps make a fiberglas "incert" that would house a set of these and a clear plastic lense... if i can find a kit of the headlights that have the same 6k HID and CCFL halos then ill be set...

Not that much progress cos I'm doing other things to my car.
But with the lamps so far:
First cut off ALL the plastic fittings. Then rivet new brackets to the slam panel. Lamp must line up along the corners to the bonnet whilst shut.
Adjust angles for alignment then fix it into position.
Now I'm putting the fenders back on and have concluded that there's no way of doing this without having to trim back the fenders as well as a lot of the bumper lamp for it to fit.

I say no to replacing the high beams with fog lights. When that would be done, you would have exactly what you started with- low beams, brights, and fog lights- but it wouldn't look as good. The whole point of this project I'd to eliminate thR high beams.

I agree with you richee but its more of the uniqueism of it. It might look good or it might be terrible. Air dams would be better performance-wise(maybe). Some vehicles can pull the day-time lights off and some can't. Good luck and I might be trying this later on once I finish my turbo build.

If it were me, I'd use the driver side high beam to bring in air into the intake with a circle cone to piping to the nose of an open ended filter and then seal off the passenger side. Not much for aesthetics, but the direct stream of cool air into the engine will boost engine performance a bit.

??? the tubo inlet is on the passenger side though? Even fgor the 3SGE engines the inlet is on the same side and that lamp is the shorted and closest feed to the filter before the engine.

Today I got off my ass and started working on the head lamps. They've been sitting on my shelf for months now after failing to graft the dodge neon lamps to the celica because I didn't want to cut my wings, bumper and carbon bonnet to make them fit.
So I got my self a set of outer lamps and clear lenses.

Now what I'm about to do should not be attempted by an amature or if you have a faint heart. Though I've spent hundreds on the lamps, I had to accept that if it goes tits up I'm gonna bin it all.
But then again if I don't try then it's all going to waste anyway.

The aim is to cut it down to size of the dodge neon projectors and install the internals into the stock housing keeping origional fixings.
The results should be a hybrid head lamp with everything in just the outer clusters freeing my inside high lamps for air ducts.

So first off. Stock lens off. Was like opening oysters. 1 slip and you're in A&E.

Same goes to the dodge neon lense

Test fit of the clear lens which still needs some work

Cleat lens over the neon lamps to see what needs cutting off.

Then cut down to size

Now compare the housing

Cut the stock front fixings out

Now cut back the neon housing keeping the lamp fixings only and all together it looks like this

all 3 put together looks like this

Now I've had enough I'm off for a beer.

Next time when I can be bothered, I need to do the same to the other side lamps and I'm going to bolt it all together, test fit for angles. Then fibreglass the two front and rear half of the housing together, smooth it down and spray it black and then put the new lens on.

TBC...

Its not often I get some time to my self to do things so I think it'll be a while till I do the other one.

oh yeah. These aren't just projectors. They've got duel halo's in each lamp too. Also by keeping the rear housing, they'll be fully adjustable in angles.

I think that, given the option, I would delete the low beams and have only the inner housings...

Very cool though. Subscribing to this thread for sure

Fiat 500 would probably be a better option actually as its smaller than the neon.

I doubt you'd be able to graft them directly to the car same as the Neons so making a hybrid like what i'm doing is probably easier. However the internals of the 500 is smaller so less cutting is needed so should be easier to install than the neons.

Yes. One other thing is that the peons can adjust horizontally as well as vertically meaning it's easy to direct and age the lamps after fitting. I'm not sure if that can be done with the 500

Not till a while
Today I had a bit of time and replicated the other side and bolted it together.

The next stage is the messy and long part.
Sanding the hybrid housing down and bonding it together.
Then spraying and neatening up the chrome inserts and the housing so it's presentable.

Dang. This is getting REALLY REALLY interesting now. Read the first page and was like wtf was this guy thinking. Doing all that body work. Skipped to the last page(hoping to see the finished product), found out you were going to hybrid the two light housing instead. That made me REALLY interested in this. Lol. Now I'm thinking This guy is a ****ing genius! Can't wait to see the outcome!

I changed my mind about that. Keeping it and bought my self some crystal lenses. Where the indicator should be at the top of theNeon cluster is, I'm putting 3 501 bulbs in to work in conjunction with the halo's as park lights.

Had a bit of time today to do a bit more.
First using thin masking tape, bridge the gaps. Reason why I'm using thin tape is because it's absorbent to resin and this is a great way to cheat.

Then trim off all the excess and using small pieces of fibreglass, start apply by brushing on the resin to the lamps, then on the fibreglass shess and then dab them in place.

So these are left on the drying rack and next time I'll just sand them down and dismantle it before spraying the housing black.

Thanks bud. So when would you like for me to do yours then? biggrin.gif

Anyway regarding my head light, I never got round to posting pictures.
So here it is:
This is all the pieces which forms the lamp layed out.

Here are the bulbs fixed in which retains the full adjusting rods meaning I can angle them when on the car

Access to bulbs and wires are easy

Halo's with the reflective backing

Halo wires are sealed using these bungs making it water tight

I heated the old glue and taped the clear covers in till it set.

Then for extra insulation I used PU glue all the way round making it air tight

The same glue was also used around the lense cover so I can glue the rubbers on

Tape and set in place

Finished

Now I just need to get hold of the wiring looms for the 4 lamps and wire in the plugs to this

I had a chance to test out the lamps and wired in the Halo's.

Its not all the way in. Theres a bit of metal on the slam panel obstructing the backing which I need to cut away.
I also need to get some Male HB3 and HB4 plugs which I've no idea where to get hold of. I bought females off ebay by mistake.

Our cars already have the 9005 and 9006 though, unless your car came with projectors. Even then you'd still have the 9005 for the highs.

Anyway I think part of the problem is sellers on eBay have their nomenclature backwards. Found this that has both connectors and both the 9005 and 9006: http://www.ebay.com/itm/9006-9005-Male-Wir...ff7&vxp=mtr Two of them and you'll be good to go.

He meant use the female part of the adapters and splice them in place of the hb3/hb4 plugs on the lights so they plug straight in to our 9005/9006 plugs.

Thats my original plan but I dont have any female parts of the HB3/HB4 as it's on the actual bulb it self.
Ive been looking for them online but can't find any apart from the ones Box showed in the link but its kind of a waste as I only need 1 end.

You see I bought these by mistake
http://www.ebay.com/itm/9006-HB4-9005-HB3-...5e9&vxp=mtr

but it's the opposite plug I needed which people dont sell on their own.

You're going to ditch the hb3/hb4 style plug altogether. Get the 9005/9006 connectors here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/9006-9005-Male-Wir...ff7&vxp=mtr and cut the unneeded end off and crimp these on: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350674532564 which will connect directly to the bulb... Just remember to run the wires through the rubber cap first.

These are the ones I bought for my car;

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-PCS-Wiring-Ha...b8ac&_uhb=1

I just cut them in half and used one side of them and connected the other side to the pigtails of my projectors..... wasteful yes, but cheaper than anything else that I could find! (Or more to the point, I couldn't find anywhere else) tongue.gif

Thats a very nice upgrade. Good job. Only the gap of the high beams looks unnatural. I prefer 2 holes where you can create 1 gap for the airfilter and 1 gap for engine cooling. But again a great job

Thanks.
Yeah I wasnt too sure about the gap too. So I used a piece of vinyl and covered one to see how it is.
I agree it doesn't look very good.
1 is to be used as a cold air feed and I am in the process of making a funnel the the induction.
The other I will mount the oil cooler where the lamp used to be and just mesh the hole.
It will still have a un-symmetrical look but I think I'd like it to be so.
