I am thinking about possibly using the 3M 1080. Thinking anthracite carbon fiber or brushed steel would look cool. Supposedly can get free samples, looking into that now.

I personally dont see the reason on buying kits when you can usually get sheet vinyl cheaper and do it yourself, like Box was saying.

example of mine:

its 3M 1080 Woodgrain, bought from TopVinylFilms

when you buy it all you need is
-an exacto knife
-the vinyl
-a heat gun
-patience

do it thumbsup.gif

I did it as an installer, less info to fill. Under company name I put self employed, and preferred distributor put Amazon. At least that way am honest about it. tongue.gif Supposedly individuals have had no problems with getting the free samples. It says they'll contact you first before shipping. Will just tell them the truth, that I want to see which vinyl wrap will look best for redoing my interior. You may want to try doing the same.

Glad you posted smkr3w, I have a question. On the edges where you folded the material over, how'd you go about that exactly to get it smooth? Did you do like a star cut on the material to get it to fold better?

I only star cut on the clock and hazard light holes.. the rest I used a heat gun and pulled taught like i was trying to wrap the back of it as well and then trimmed leaving about a 1/4-1/2 inch excess all around. Patience and a heat gun really is the key to a nice edge.

also and the more square corners like around the radio/climate i used a single cut (45 degrees or so) close to the corner.

however on the shifter surround after i took these pics the corner curve nearest the dash on the pass side started to lift a little do to the arizona heat so i trimmed an even inch around the base making somewhat parallel lines

Thanks for the info! thumbsup.gif Hopefully will get a sample pack from 3M. Can't decide between the black and anthracite carbon fiber, or brushed stainless or aluminum. Need to see in person to decide for sure. Kinda leaning towards the black carbon fiber or brushed stainless though.
