I'm really debating doing a full AWD swap.
I had a few subies. AWD is pretty damn cool but idk..it's quite a bit more work. I'd cut and swap floor pans.. What do you think? Do it all at once? -------------------- |

I'd keep it FWD for now and decide on the AWD conversion later. That's just me though That clip looks great! It's a shame that it's going to take so long to get here. Keep us updated!

You might as well do it if you have everything....You could just weld the front and rear clips back together, then just weld on what you need for the body / upper half and it would be a legit GT4....I mean the engine, transmission, rear end, and everything is already in there so you wouldn't need to remove anything. It kind of makes sense.
Edit: And where did you order it from? This post has been edited by mkernz22: Feb 10, 2013 - 4:56 PM |

You have a really good start to the awd conversion, this is the first clip I've personally seen as complete as this one with the rear floor ect.. There aren't many awd conversion celicas state side and would probably be one of the only ones in Colorado unless imported from up North. You could always swap down the road it's your choice.
You'd piss off alot subies up there with a fasttt awd celica haha You have a great parts list and parts at hand should be a fun build to watch good luck man! -------------------- st205 powered ss3 coupe

OK, so let's get into more of the details here.
We're talking full conversion. E154F with axles Super Strut, hubs, brakes driveshaft, rear diff, gas tank. what the hell, might as well do GT4 gauge cluster and auto climate control swap while I'm at it. Should be pretty easy since I am keeping it LHD. I'd just need to swap out interior harnesses right?? I know the auto cc has 3 sensors and I'd need to swap the 3 fan assembly but as far as the GT4 interior harness, it should fit with quite a bit of extra slack right? Correct me if I'm wrong on that.. AWD conversion: I plan on dropping the engine and transmission in and getting everything bolted up and connected (As if it were a normal swap). Swapping out the front axle, hub, and strut assembly as one unit, if I can haha From there, I plan on starting from the transmission and working my way back making sure the brackets for the drive shafts are straight and strong. And when I get to the rear, I'll need to figure out just how much of the GT4 floor pan I will need to cut and transfer over. I'm hoping it's just the trunk area but that will most likely not be the case. Well, damn..no longer need that hybrid clutch haha -------------------- |

for the rear all you need to do is remove the spare tire well and weld in a flat panel.
Then you can remove the mounts from the underside by drilling out the tack welds and moving it over. see here: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...5&hl=mounts |

Spewed gas all over the floor on first start up ![]() -Fuel pump resistor pack wasn't completely plugged in. Ran for 20 seconds and then died. Plugged in now. Works. How did I miss this thread?!
I can't begin to tell you how frustrating cutting spot welds are. I did mine as full rhd so I cut the firewall out. The floor pan would suck. But new-stars is great! Good buy. You also changed the motor how I did. Drop the subframe out the front. You would have had to have changed the steering rack though right? Or did I miss something there? This is my kinda swap though! Quick. Enjoy it and drive it, don't spend 1500 and a years worth of time rebuilding an engine that needs no attention. -------------------- ![]() |

Yeah, I don't think I'll be swapping floor pans haha It's easy enough to make the brackets for the rear subframe for the awd conversion! But I'm not doing rhd at all. Nothing needed with the steering rack. Unless I use the GT4 suspension, then I'd just need the tie rod ends ![]() ![]() I will definitely be driving and enjoying it ![]() -------------------- |

You can pass emissions with e 3S-GTE in Colorado? The wifey wants to move to Colorado but I'm fairly certain we couldn't register our Celica there, so I'll be interested to hear how it's done.

![]() haha..I have a picture of me like this somewhere when I pulled out my 5s. Except I'm sitting in a chair reading a magazine. Nice build though! Small Update:
The woodgrain is no more! ![]() Got some new kicks ![]() A friend of mine (with a built subaru RS) introduced me to his sponsor, Metro Performance, today. I talked and bull****ed with the owner for a good two hours. Anyways, he's more than interested in my project and will help me out with the AWD conversion. They are mostly a subaru shop but he wants to get in with other cars. I'll be making some dimensions and throwing it in SolidWorks so he has something to go off of. Fab up some mounts and go from there! I'll keep ya guys posted! This post has been edited by Malek: Apr 8, 2013 - 11:43 PM -------------------- |

nice! Good luck with the sponsor guy!!
I like your interior, did it originally come with the tan and black interior or did someone do it custom that way? Mine is all black, and it's horrible in a convertible. The interior gets scorching hot when the top is down, worst idea ever for a convertible. -------------------- -Jay

Phase 2 Begins:
-17 gallon fuel cell I had my eye on a few Fuel Safe and ATL cells but an RCi popped up on ebay for a good price and in the dimensions I wanted..so I went ahead and submitted a bid on it and I ended up winning. -Subframe connectors I have a few leads on the mounts. I do not want to measure and make my own if someone has already done all the R&D. Saves me time and money. -E154F clutch I got Clutchmasters to agree on warrantying my throwout bearing. They are known for sending the wrong one in their hybrid set for a 3sgte to S54 mate up. So TOB, alignment tool and FX350 disk are on their way. -NonAWD specific Seats/Carpet New seat covers from Vincent should be done soon. Ordered the parts for aftermarket seat heaters with OEM switches. Pulled the carpet out to clean. Still very dirty and stained. Brakes Will be contacting my machine shop to see if they can grind down my GT4 rotors to 300mm. Coilovers Eyes on target: BC BR. Alarm I am still trying to figure out what aftermarket alarm/remote start system the previous owner had on the Celica. The RS3000 will not operate my door locks or arm/disarm the alarm. It will go into panic mode though if I hold down the button. Quite annoying. A week from Thursday I will be dropping in the e154F ![]() This post has been edited by Malek: Apr 30, 2013 - 11:09 AM -------------------- |

In my opinion I wouldnt trust any mounts you buy from someone else. Jmeyer may be the only one to document his well enough, but I dont think he's selling them.
I'd build my own, knowing that the driveshaft angle and everything is installed to your liking. Also the wheel base will move foward about 1/2" if you use the GT4 arms. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

Interesting...
I didn't know the arms were different lengths. Noted. Probably would've figured it out, eventually ![]() But to be honest, I just want rough dimensions so I have somewhere to start. If someone made quality mounts, I'd pickup a set and probably end up modifying them to my liking anyway. If not...I'll be making my own. -------------------- |

nice bikes! That's an 848 or 1098 in front..I can't really tell..and the others I think are ducatis but I can't really tell. I LOVE ducati valve design..and everything else about ducati's really except for the dry clutches.

There are always motorcycle cops doing it and they will be quick to pull us over if we did, so that means we sit in 5 mph traffic for 30 - 45 minutes and either burn up the clutch or speed up, stop, speed up, stop, speed up, stop... but yeah, desmodromic always gets my heart beating. Absolutely incredible design that I wish was incorporated into more than just ducs. Great performance across all RPMs and no valve float, just more adjustments more often, which I would have no problem with. -------------------- -Jay

haha nice! seat heaters are going to be the best part of this project! For sure! I have no heat at all since I had to bypass the heater core! I did it in my last Celica. So worth it. Not to mention, my new seat covers should be here soon from vincent. I hate to ask the painful questions, but is there any particular ETA on the AWD swap? As far as a set date, unfortunately, I don't. Since it's not my daily, I'm not crunching hardcore for time. I'll be completely gone from 29 May to 26 June so I don't think it will be done during that time. I doubt it will be done before then but I'm just going one step at a time. Though, it will be done by summers end. Let's say NLT 23 August. -------------------- |

nope nope nope nope. glad I stopped in here.
They dont fit. I thought I posted it in my thread, maybe I didnt. I will have to post comparison images. They dont fit. I ordered the Stop Tech lines for the GT instead. And I used the rear lines in the Front and the fronts in the rear. (the rear lines are a hair longer and could use the extra length for full lock) The Stoptechs take a few weeks to get to you (and are twice the price) but I trust the build quality over Techna-fit and those other brands. Honestly the BEST way to get the best possible fit lines would be to get custom made lines, but The stoptechs fit wonderfully the way I installed them. Im pretty sure only Techna-Fit and Stoptech make them for the 6th gen. Goodridge just skipped out gen with their lines. I remember seeing Earls lines from gt4-racing for the ST202, they would probably fit, but I didnt want to take the risk of ordering overseas This post has been edited by Tigawoods: Jul 17, 2013 - 7:37 PM -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

After quite some time asking around and talking to people about fabricating some rear end mounts, I finally came across someone who was 1) really enthusiastic about the project and 2) actually wanting to do it. Hank at Hanksville Hot Rods. There weren't really all that many hot rods there though..mostly porsches, bmws, an SC 2JZ swap and a twin engine VW they were finishing up..
Anyway, I presented him some pictures I had and some renderings of my ideas and we threw ideas back and forth and came up with something pretty cool. Instead of making a box that spans across the frame rails (front mounts of the rear subframe) we decided to make use of some tubing. The rear mounts we decided to keep the box idea and incorporate it into the frame rails. I wanted the entire assembly to tuck under the rear of the car. They definitely made it happen. There is about half an inch of clearance between the diff and the body which puts the driveshafts right about parallel with the ground. They're finishing up the boxes on the frame rails now. I also used the GT4 rear trailing bars which brought my wheelbase closer about half an inch. I don't mind it for now. We'll see what happens down the road. Fun fact, the GT4 rear brakes are a lot bigger than the GT front brakes. Wheel well was cut out, reinforced the area with bars and then 18ga sheet stitch welded and sealed. My fuel cell is going back there. All this update and no photos?!?! Photobucket is down for site maintenance. Don't worry. I'll be adding them. POSSIBILITY OF A READY TO WELD-IN KIT?!?! These guys use an in-house mandrel bender. Cool thing is, it's electronic. This means the entire tube curvature is saved on file. Hank is working this weekend on pricing. And yes, we are talking about FULL kits including the rear sub frame mounts and the driveshaft mounts that come ready to weld on the body/frame of your Celica. I'll keep you updated. Any questions? Ask away... -------------------- |

The price should be fairly reasonable considering the most expensive part was the time to set it all up, measure, bend, measure, weld, measure, etc. I'll definitely keep this updated. -------------------- |

Pictures as promised. Don't mind the insane amount of rust on my diff and subframe. Salt is a terrible thing
Starting from the front, driveshaft mounts. ![]() The replicated ones will probably look a lot sexier. Anyways, this is the passenger side front rear subframe mount. ![]() Mandrel bend up and over the differential. A support bracket was welded at the top of the loop to the body (not shown in picture). ![]() Driver side. Gives a good idea of how tube and plate are welded to the frame rails ![]() And then the wheel well delete. ![]() This post has been edited by Malek: Sep 21, 2013 - 11:51 AM -------------------- |

Here are the box mounts for the rear. Welded to the frame rails.
![]() And the start to my fuel cell. Plans for this is to drop it about 4 inches into the body, support it from underneath (completely full, it'll weight about 100 pounds) and weld a cover over it so that is not open to the cabin. ![]() The plan for the kit is to have all the pieces for the rear end as ready to weld. So the tubing, mounts and plates for the two front mounts of the subframe will come separated and the two rear boxes will come ready to weld to the rails. They do not want to try and replicate the drive shaft mounts due to them being so small and minor body differences. -------------------- |
