Any news on a 2016 Calender?

Lil-Joe101 few days ago rang the bell when messaged me so I looked after many weeks here again (yea shame on me). In terms of calendar I found guys above asking about is. So here it is:

- I have no issues take control in this as previous years but only under the same rules (as before) = decent picture/pictures at minimum resolution 3508x2480 pixles
- Price assumption? I do not know... Not checked prices at all. Last year we got $16 shipped worldwide. The worst guess is +10% to last year price ($16-19 total?). Will make clear when we decide to go. Checked an confirmed: the same as last year $16 shipped worldwide
- Common issues we faced:

a) get 12+1 pictures (decent pictures... and talking about resolution!)
b) get enough interested people to buy it (estimated price is always based on some printed volume - when printed less price is going up)
c) get everything in time... you want it at home before end of the year? we must start immediately!

So what do you think? Calendar 2016 - to be or not to be?

note: it seems I can reach the same printing company as last year (just had call with them) but we need to have READY pictures for printing in 2 weeks max . Can we handle this timing?

I have checked we can stay on the same price as last year! Costs raised BUT exchange rate (USD/CZK) changed so it is still $16 delivered worldwide

I have always wanted to take some nice shots of me working on the car but always end up working more than picture taking haha

Tigawoods indeed . No focus in terms of font or any graphic details. Just let go idea to the paper as fast as I could with first picture . Will tweak it for sure.

jordisonjr... to be honest I would like to get 12 pictures. I do not care about process. You have 10days starting now . I hate this part because there always someone will be disappointed. My target is clear:

- 12 pictures
- minimum resolution 3508x2480 pixles
- well made (please no blurry mess)

And that's it. In case you will make me choose I have own opinion and rules (you saw them last year) what might not be sexy for everyone... please do selection instead of me this year.

So once again. 12 pictures... 10 days (better one week) to give chance to the people to see what they buying.

I have two weeks to collect payments (and meet deadline 8th November given by printing company= day when I need to know how many calendars will be printed and to pay for them)

So far I see 3 submitted cars. Please go on!

Only problem with my monthly winner shot is the resolution isnt very good, so you could have me as August but choose the photo you had for the demo calendar shot instead

I'll also be down for 2 calendars (my dad wants one haha)

I have feeling you do not understand people situation. Printing company will DENY to print pictures below 3508x2480 pixles. So yes it is nice having 12 candidates already (COTM winners) but if just single one has not picture in proper resolution we are lost and need replacement. That is why I say for years: "do you want COTM people = calendar people? make rules also related to quality of the source...". So yes. It is nice someone made nice accidental shot with his cellphone. It is COTM worthy... congratulations. But it doesn't mean it is also calendar worthy.

I understand the issue with the resolution. I also understand the time crunch so I'm just making suggestions and since we had used the COTM as a template in the past, I was just gathering all the photos in one place. My shots aren't anything special. I have the full resolution pictures saved on my computer and you know how Photobucket kills the quality. I wish I had more shots of more cars (and from different angles) but those are the best of the pictures I have that will meet the resolution criteria. I also realized earlier today that I need to ask permission of the owners before submitting pictures of their cars as candidates for the calendar so for now, I'm pulling my pictures down until the owners decide if they'd like their cars in the calendar.

No worries. Fully understand. Pictures of your car are perfect and fully usable so I hope they can stay . So far we have candidates but we are far from having "12 printable pictures". In fact - in total count - we have 5. Two COTM wines and 3 replacements. In case you get permission from other guys we can have nice "backup plan" available in case some COTM pictures will be unreachable.

I would prefer to use one of the photos I took due to photo rights and whatnot but if mine are not high enough resolution, I will also include this one taken by a photographer at a local meet.

PegGTS I have small issue with flicker picture. You are not maker of the photography... are you sure you are allowed to use it as you wish? Anyway. This picture works fine (resolution is good enough)

I found not every month suits every photo composition (long month vs short month = grid with squares is different size) and 4-eyed-freek's COTM wining picture was real challenge .

If you have big enough pictures (3508x2480 pixels plus) please do it. Anyone is welcomed. We have really tight schedule and I am sure not all COTM winners will have high resolution pictures or will deliver those pictures on time (deadline is by the end of month). And only when I have any 12x 3508x2480 pixels plus pictures in my hand it is making calendar really possible. Now I have six (and just two from COTM winners). So more pictures submitted the better. Just to be sure and having "plan b" ready.

This one was my favorite but... it is too wide . Even with some 4:3 pictures I had issue to put grid with numbers and names where "default" is. With that wide picture as you mention there is no space and one car would be cropped like this:



and in this case is looking better (IMO) version below:



Anyway only one chance to keep both car complete is having them side by side as is here:

note: during process I have noticed few things related to COTM completion and calendar. Here are some small hits to think about:

- when COTM picture is posted (in case we want it on calendar 2017) it must be available before voting starts in high resolution... correct?
- some people (COTM winners) replaced picture for calendar purpose (better shot or simply because original had resolution issues). Is this OK? is COTM about the picture (can not be changed) or the car in it (can be changed and no issue with that)???
- picture ownership... in some cases owner of the car and picture creator is not the same person. Is creator of picture familiar with the fact his work will be used on calendar in the future? Is that mean it is not possible to use picture from other people for COTM competition (or there must be some kind of disclaimer)???
