Hello All! I'm excited to announce that I too will be joining the small percentage of 3sgte swapped Celica's. I purchased my 3sgte engine clip yesterday "Friday", and will receive it this coming Wednesday. I'll start my swap the last week of January due to accrued vacation that I've earned at work. In my short time on 6gc I've spent my time reading up on similar swaps so that I could learn as much as possible. I don't think i'll be able to be up in running in two days like some of the gear-heads on this site, but I certainly hope that I have the privilege to post, and work with some of the masterminds that make this site so great.

The Car:

94 Celica GT. Currently with 224,000 miles on it. The 5s still runs like a top, but I originally purchased this car to complete a 3sgte swap. I was given the privilege of driving a JDM 3rd Gen Celica RC (right hand drive...the whole 9), and I've been in love since then.

I've owned two integra's. One GS-R, and the other a GS. I learned to love Honda, but have come to realize that Toyota is WAY better. I love my car and can't wait to get started.

I'll start updates and pics as soon as I get my clip.

Please feel free...I value your feedback, and understand that I know a fraction of the information that some of the great minds on this site know!

you can use a mustang cobra heat exchanger, they are available on ebay all the time, and fit the opening on the celica bumper well.

wait...really?? I just looked. They are very inexpensive! Will the water lines line up? Or is this a custom installation through and through?

the water lines will not line up, but not a big deal, 3/4" ID hose works just fine, and of course you would need to fab up mounting brackets.

which oil cooler are you talking about? the engine oil cooler that is attached to the block?

or the tranny oil cooler thats shown in the pics, or the power steering cooler thats also in your pics?

*UPDATE*

Been really busy at work, but I have been able to put in some time to begin removing items for the swap. It was during the removal that I discovered that then engine that was shipped to me is in fact a WRC engine. The pics below show the progress I've made in removing the cars peripheral systems, but also the anti-lag system. I pulled the spark plugs as well to inspect for any internal damage. Cylinder 3 plug (Which I know has known issues because of the cooling channels) had oil on the threads, but the electrode itself looked fine. The other plugs looked fine. I'll go to Toyota on Tuesday, and get a new valve cover gasket.

yeah its an anti-lag system that doesnt work. its not worth the time or money to make it work, because it requires a standalone system. not to mention the hell it puts the turbo through. the time and money can be made more useful in other places.

good luck with it progress looks great. you'll love that 3gen. much easier to work with from what ive seen so far.
