I got the J-Speed front and the Cusco oval rear in today. Put them on and boy do they make a difference. Plus they are a nice addition to the engine bay and the trunk. Here are the pics of the bars.

thanks, i got antoher question...I know the Sway bar reduces body roll, but what does a strut bar do?? do both of them have the same effect?

sorry for the noob questions, just trying to learn something. smile.gif

No... strut bars increase rigidy, and reduce chassi flex during heavy cornering...

So having aftermarket strut tower bars and aftermarket sway bars would put you in a handling/cornering class all on your own? Basically, it'd make the car Superman--just without the speed?

Mmmm, me want

Why is Three point Better then Two?

The reason that a three point is better than a two point is because it gives it one more bracing point on the caisis. So it makes the car that much more ridged under cornering.

but its so negligible its not even worth worrying about

to increase rigidity its best to have a strut brace horizontally accross the two struts

it helps stiffen/strengthen the body of the car. if you have the money, then get front and rear strut bars plus front and rear sway bars...lol. you'll be one happy camper! Question...when installing, dont you have to raise the off the ground first then install, something about it being even or balanced?!

Take from the JDM part # sticky :

GT-Four Factory Rear Strut Brace - This isn't an exterior styling part, but it's a pretty rare part that is JDM.

I'm sure the side braces do something, it's just a matter of is it enough to mess with. I don't think they'd sell them unless they were decent. Can't get anyone to post opinion on them, I've searched for it. But as far as three point brace, you can just buy a point, and weld the stock to it. That's was Kwansa did, and that's what I'm going to try to get done this weekend, a long with an underbody panel and cooling panel.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have the GT-4 rear, and a Megan Racing Neon front, and I noticed more with the rear bar. This could be for a number of different reasons. But I did notice a difference on both. You'd notice more with sway bars, but it's a different feel all together.

gt-4=around $80. It'd be hard to get the same performance out of a custom, well, I guess that depends on who you are.

will the GT-Four strut brace fit on the coupe? I figure it would, but i would just like some positive feed back from someone with a coupe that has purchased one. Coupe with TRUNK, not a lift/hatch back...( I know from looking through the members rides some people can not tell the difference between a coupe and a hatch back)

will it fit on a coupe? i would really think that it wouldn't need it as much as a hatch back. The coupe already has alot less flex. i would do sway bars first on a coupe. (front brace i would get)

Thx for that, but I would also like to know the Partnumber for the Front Factory GT-Four upper strut brace. I want to install it on my ST. And does anyone have a partnumber of this Cusco strut brace? http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=parts&itu=29
An online catalog from Cusco would also be fine, that way i can look the partnumber up myself smile.gif

isn't there a strut bar that goes underneath the car as oppose to the one in the trunk? which one is better?? or is that called a Sway bar ?? same thign??

I think you're referring to the lower tie bar. For our celica's there's only the rear strut tower braces, which go in the trunk.

these are sway bars. Suspension Tech makes them. The strut tower bars connect the tops of the strut towers whereas the sway bars (actually anti-sway bars) connect underneath the car and connects the end links and gives the car a more rigid feel. There is a write up on how to install a rear bar here

Jspeed and cucso are both 3pt you can order them form bulletproof. one thing that sucks is waitng for them to come

the one I ordered is taking like 2 months

go to driftfactory.com they have cusco front and rear struts for 150 each i dunno how their delivery service is though

Ya really what is the difference between the strut brace tower and Anti-Sway Bars. I know Anti-Sway Bars are alot cheaper than strut brace towers why is that so. Which one would you guys prefer in buying?
Would it be reasonable in buying an anti-sway bar for the back and strut brace tower for the front??
Any help is greatly appreciated THANK YOU

Tiga, do you have a strut bar in your engine bay?

Anyone have any feedback about the GT4 rear bar? I'd like to buy one. Is there an updated link to where we can get the Cusco strut bars?

And there's a GT4 front strut brace? Is it better then the one that comes with our comes from the factory? If so, what's the part number?

Yes but you will not be able to put the oem shock tower plastics from your GT. You'll need to order the GT4 ones or just leave them off, as I did wink.gif

since i'm new to the celica, where is a good place to get some inexpensive strut tower bars. i bought the car for $700 and don't plan on doing a lot to the car since it will be my daily driver and possibly rallyx car.

Just for reference, after talking to a Toyota dealership, the GT4 rear bar is no longer made.

Where can I find some in-expensive front and rear strut bars? Someone needs to make replicas of these.

I saw that, but $239 is ridiculous for a STOCK strut bar. Whoever would pay that much is an idiot.

And that front one looks cheap.
