Well, i was looking for an option for my car brakes... cuz they are $hity.....

And i did found one option, what is still better then stock brakes. It seems what ST165 has the same size brake disks, but it has dual brake pistons, witch would give us better and smother braking with them. So i bought a pair of used brake assemblys from ST165 and did a little test this weeken, and YES, they DO DIRECT BOLT ON. Nothing needs to be changed.

Here are few pics for ya:

Would you know if the us 165 version would have dual piston? Also how much did they improve or help? Also im guessing that would be the 89 or so, alltrac?

Dunno about US version, but these came from All track ST165. About improvment - dont know yet, aint tested them.

I do know another thing what brake systems from ST185 bolt on directly on ST165 (rally guys with ST165 use ST185 disks and brakes cuz they are bigger, and everything fits nicly)

So i do think what ST185 brakes MIGHT fit ST as well without major problems...

Crazy! I just realized this a couple days ago too. Here was my predicament and I tried the AT200 rotors and was surprised to find that they fit. smile.gif

Unfortunately, I can't find pads for these calipers ANYWHERE.

I didn't have to swap the whole assembly. I just swapped the caliper and caliper bracket.

You can't use single-piston-caliper All-Trac pads...and that's all I found on my quest for brake pads today. I hit six different auto parts stores and nothing they had for the ST165 or ST185 fit.

Try
https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/partscat.html
use the mechanical parts, brake components

They're attached to a Toyota dealership -- in Washington state, as a matter of fact -- so you can call them to check details, but the prices are the best I've found for Toyota parts.

Nice job, but the brakes from the ST165 are, frankly, ****. Why on earth did you choose to fit them?

Most ST165 owners I know have moved to late spec ST185 brakes (single caliper), or aftermarket.

Interesting...they have the calipers on there, yet Autozone, Schucks, Carquest, and the non-chain local shops here can't find pads that fit them.

They had plenty of pads for ST165s in stock at some of the stores I went to as well...but none of them came close to fitting the dual-piston calipers.

Well, they're probably the same pads they have in Schucks, which didn't fit at all.

I'll get you some pics in about a week.

And the post comes back to life!

So from what I understand, the ST185 Dual Piston calipers are better than the 165 Dual pistons. Has anyone been able to find brake pads for these yet? And Coomer, I don't know if this was before or after your post about the ST185s giving you problems. How did that end up? You got the brakes on? And let me know if you found the brake pads.

EDIT: How do you detach the brake line from the Caliper without breaking it? When I painted my calipers and the ones on my brother's tC, it seemed like it was hrard to get off. How would you take it off?

They're the same calipers. Where did you hear that ST185 dual pistons are better than ST165 dual pistons?

And you remove the line with a special line wrench.

ooo. lol. my mistake. i misread the information. i thought i read that some people switch the st165 calipers for st185 calipers. lol. did you ever find brake pads for it tho? coom, i coulda sworn you bought the st185 brakes from someone and claimed that they didnt fit or something like that? so all i would need are the calipers and break pads and these will work on ym at200, right? what about the rear st185/165 disc breaks? are those dual pistons? would they fit my AT200? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Has anyone done this? I have ST165 calipers at the moment (they were a price I could not refuse) but what rotors is everyone using? I don't think the ST165 rotors are fitting....

Right - but the ROTORS are not fitting - and the Calipers are offset big time - as they use a larger rotor - so you can't use ST rotors

I am running ST165 calipers and rotors with the following modifications:

The middle hole in the rotor had to be enlarged to fit the hub correctly

I used two washers from home depot on each brake mount to scoot the caliper back to match the offset provided by the rotors. We just got done with a 24 hour endurance event using this setup with EBC Red stuff and let me tell you......

anybody have any pics of the st185 twin piston front brake calipers on an AT200 celica?

also I know that some SS-III and all GT-4 come with twin piston front brake calipers, and both SS-III and GT-4 have superstrut suspension, but are both calipers the same? Do SS-III celica come with the same brake set up as the gt-4.

and the SS-II celica that came with mcpherson suspension, will those fit on gt sized brake rotors???

The thing is, why would you pay that much, when you can piece together st205 front and rear brakes for far less than that brembo. You can still get a set of wilwood fronts for cheaper and k sport too. bolt pattern is right on, but unsure of the offsets.

ah yes I know. Id rather get the gt-4 brake combo. but it was just an option. Ridiculous how k sport and willwood only make big brake kits with 6 piston brake calipers for the front, and 4 piston calipers for the rear. and they only fit 17" rims but ya what is offset for stock gt-s celica
