THANKS DOGGY! Wooo! Folding mirrors. I'm real excited. I can't wait to figure out the wiring on these bad boys to slap em on the Celi! They came a bit damaged, but that's understandable, considering how many hands this package had to go through to get here. Hehe. Nothing a little crazy glue can't fix. Lol. I found a few topics on how to wire these but they're kinda confusing. When I get started on them, you guys should see me posting a little more often wink.gif . Do you guys think I can swap over the triangle pieces from my stock mirrors to these? Thanks.

Folding mirrors are cool but a guy on the GT4OC is making a mod so they are linked to an alarm fob so whenever you set the alarm the mirrors fold in and vice versa smile.gif

Of course they can fold. But by hand or by the push of a button. Al Mirrors from everywhere on the world are identical except for the fact that JDM mirror can fold with a button.

I want a button that shoots the mirrors right off the car, so I won't have the "drag" when I am trying to out run the police. It will work with the suspension that will lower the faster I go. biggrin.gif

I call it the "Drop and Pop" manuever, patent pending. wink.gif

^^those are not the same as the "folding" kind...those bottons adjust the position of the mirror itself..not the whole unit. The JDM ones have a botton so you have push it, and the whole thing folds in...we can do that here in the US, but by hand only.

~snap

edit: look at the controls of the JDM ones...it has 3 bottons...yours has 2. If you look at the JDM ones, the top right there is a botton with a pic of a mirror with arrows...that is the botton/ability your lacking wink.gif

Jen, what you have (and what most here have) are just power mirrors as in you can adjsut the angle of the mirrors with the control you showed. They can fold in if you push it with your hand.

The JDM ones will fold, or retract, with a push of the extra button shown in Joe's post.

Yea, I'm rich. JK. Actually, what happened was that I had no idea they manually fold in. Lol. So I bought these. I don't regret it tho, because it's kinda nerdy to go everywhere and fold them in after you get out of your car. With the push of a button, it's real pimp and it gives the car a newer feel. I don't know, that satisfies me. What makes me happy is working on my car and modifying it in anyway possible. Some people would rather save their money, some people like to spend $1000+ on rims, the world is crazy man, lol, get used to it.

well yeah true i mean i paid 850 for headlights so yeah i know what cha mean. but what we refuse to understand is when we sell our cars......they are worth nothing we will never get what we put into them. unless of course u put every thing on the car back to brand new status. and that would be very exspensive. but hey its fun till u either wreck it or go to sell it. then its a slap in the face.

lol, yea i see where ure coming from. i mean, for me, its my hobby. i dont plan on selling my celica anytime soon. im real attached. i know all about car values and things, so thats y, while i have it, i try to keep it clean. if i mod anything, it has to match with everything else. my car is silver and all the lights inside are blue. my intakes couplings are blue. my 7th gen celica seats are blue/black. so it all matches. and if its not that, im adding options to the car that it didnt come with. such as the power folding mirrors. and anything i add to the car is usually because i sold the old part, so that i dont lose money. for example, my 6gen seats, i sold them for about the same price i paid for the 7th gen seats. i try to be smart about it because of that same reason you stated. its good to know we're on the same page.

My old stock side mirrors are still in my car. Through this thread, I know half the 6GC community learned our mirrors can manually fold in. Trust me, about 75% of these guys didn't know we had Cup Holders... and the thing says "cup holder". the mirrors dont say 'fold me' on them, so i dont feel too bad. hehe. wink.gif

Actually, to me, power folding mirrors do serve a purpose. They're at least a little more protected when you're parked and such. That, and they're totally pimp. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the total project run you?

the mirrors themeselves were 80 bucks. so i figure the stock ones can sell for like 40-60 bucks, so i really only wasted 20 bucks extra. thats how im able to mod my car and feel good about it. lol. so 20 bucks to have em fold in automatically, not too bad, dont ya think?

Some will say wire them to a relay that's activated when you arm your alarm. I don't know if I'd do that, cause I think the car looks weird parked with folded in mirrors every single time. I would however, wire them to an auxilary channel on my alarm so I can fold them from outside the car. Showoff tongue.gif As the nice weather is approaching, though, I'm getting a power roll-up and roll-down window modules for my alarm. Up automatically when the alarm is armed, down by aux channel on remote. You and I are alike, valo lol. Nice little mod you're doing though. Definately unique. Good luck

My mitsubishi, closes the side mirrors if I press the lock button on remote twice.

Opens it back up again if i press open twice too.

I never get tired of it. If only my celica did that.

Finally I know that I don't have jdm folding mirrors. Was so confused if mine was jdm or not. Lol. I never folded it in though. Kind of scared of putting pressure onto it. Maybe one day when I have nothing to buy for my car. I'll get the JDM mirrors and hook it up to my alarm. Would be cool for it to be able to fold in with the alarm armed. Lol.
