I rarely get in to accidents, I've been in 2 my entire life (i'm 25), but 2 nights ago, I hit a deer.

I was going so fast, that it just smashed the bumper and flew over my car, I **** you not. I feel kinda bad for the deer, but, I slammed on the brakes & cut the wheel to the left immediately before I saw it. I still managed to hit it going about 45mph.

They say if you're going to hit a deer, you may as well suck it up and hit the thing, instead of veering off the road and possibly causing another accident or a more serious one. I lucked out and it didnt hit the windshield, thank god for that.

The high beam/headlights are somewhat seperated from the bumper, although, everything else is fine on the car. The bumper will need to be replaced most likely, but, It could've been a lot worse.

My girlfriend was screaming when it happened.... nothing makes you concentrate more than a woman grabbing your arms and yelling in your ear while you're trying to avoid death, believe me. laugh.gif

I had a bunch of crap on my windshield, nasty blood & all kinds of gooey stuff. The car is still amazingly clean, although, that juice was hard to get off the windows.

Just thought i'd post this to make the person who hit the rabbit feel better. At least your roadkill was smaller than a bread box!

Yeah, I know... the impact was hard enough that i'm suprised it didnt blow them.

Everyone who sees the damage swears i'm the luckiest person in the world, it barely did anything to the car.

Very lucky indeed. I hit one too awhile back. In a car the size of ours, death to the occupants of the car would not be out of the question. Glad you are ok.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Wow. You dont know how lucky you really are

Two years ago, a good friend of mine was driving from Alberta to BC (rocky mountain range) and hit a deer. He didnt survive. It was absolutely horrible, the family decided on an open casket funeral and although im sure whoever worked on his body did a great job, you could still see what happened to him. His face was all cut up, and looked nothing like him. It still makes me feel sick to my stomach today. Consider youself very lucky.

Yeah I hit a deer and it set me back a few grand, then I hit another one and it did almost the same. You are really lucky that you are ok and your gf is ok. It sucks that your car is messed up, but you can fix it. You cant fix life!

lol.. thanks for the replies...

yeah, it was just a deer, a pretty good sized one.. apparently I hit it going so fast it flew over my car, had it flown a little lower, it would've went straight through the windshield.

just got back from the bodyshop, the headlights on the passenger side are completely broken off (they're just hanging in there, no supports) and the bumper is cracked around the high beam.

total cost to fix it is going to be about $1,070, i'm glad I have insurance.

Wow... Lucky smile.gif

I almost smacked into a deer once... But I swerved outa the way in the last minute. I saw the deer when I was doing about 60 mph too so it would have been tragic if I hit.. Plus the top was down so if I did hit the people in the back woulda had a deer join em... laugh.gif
