Hi

I just bought a 1995 Celica GT and the steering effort, particularly at
parking, is really high - compare to other cars it feels like it
has no power steering! Is it normal for the car?
Thanks,

Val

I thought the same thing, my dad's Camry is a lot lighter, but you get used to it, and I actually like it a bit firmer. It gives it more of a "performance feel."

i noticed this when i had my stock 15" rims with 205/60/15 rubber... since i've got rims on... its much ligher steering, dont know if its got anything to do with the power steering though? kindasad.gif

it seems fine to me. i do 99.9% of my steering with one arm and no problems. but then again, i work out and have been driving this car for almost 2 years.

When my PS was leaking I had a hard time steering at low speeds, but after tightening a few bolts to stop the leak, steering was a breeze.

So if your steering is making noises everytime you turn the wheel or if you're having a hard time steering I would guess your power steering is out.

I mean if you're having a hard time steering... then obviously your power steering isn't doing it's job... or you're just really weak. =)

Maybe your powersteering is out/busted... Stock feel is more firm than typical sedans and stuff... but it's by no means 'difficult' to steer at slow speeds...

did you have it aligned? it has to be re-aligned after lowering
if it was aligned then you might have a control arm problem
