I visited this site a while back, and I thought I saw a Celica topic to convert it to a Supra. I do not intend on having the same body... engine.. or interior features as the Supra, but I want to have a look a like. I own a 1994 Toyota Celica ST, sadly the AT200 frame.

My plans intend to (and if someone with an idea they believe is better, please tell me.) I want this to replicate a supra. Money is of no problem.

Supra Tail Lights (Afterburners)
Body Kit (one that is made for Supras also
3S-GTE Engine Swap
Supra Designed Rims?
Spoiler
Headlight Conversion

I tried and tried going through the forums looking for a topic like this one because I hate to repeat someone, so if I can be redirected to save time, that would be great. If anything I don't want to get flamed... i just need some help or advice to get started. I checked the site on the Engine Swap, saw its not going to be perfect, but I believe I got the garage and tools needed, just any kind of help or link would be great. Ty

Pretty sure I asked for no flaming bro, but If I wanted a high risk supra on my insurance AGAIN, i would buy it. I would much rather stick to my low insurance cost Celica and make it look like one smile.gif

So please, only positive comments will help

Go with the engine swap, leave the exterior mods to be -- let a supra be a supra, and a celica be a celica. Converting tails/head lights will look really, really riced out if you do not do it right, and chances are you won't do it right. EDIT: Don't take this post as flaming --> just laying it out for you in a direct way.

i agree.

but if you do the supra taillight conversion, plz put it up more where the "supra" curve is. ton of people put it where the celica taillights are and it looks silly. imho, supra headlights are too big. stick with the stock celica and get projectors. GL

i have been on this site for a really really long time. i have seen members come and go, and i have seen almost all of the supra conversions and with the exception of Oreo's car, i have yet to see one that was done right and clean. From afar, it looks good, but as you look closer, the cuts arent as clean and it just looks shotty. So unless you have a REALLY REALLY good custom body shop, that knows what they're doin, i would just leave the body be. if money is no issue, just do a 3sgte swap, make it an AWD...import a Varis body kit from japan and some JDM projectors and you'll have one of the hottest cars on the site.

well why don't we try and help this new member and point him in the direction of what he should do to achieve a great "mini-supra" although some may not agree

for the tail light conversion if you want the best resemblance of a supra and greatest appeal then do it exactly like 0re0
IPB Image
your going to want to place the lights all the way up against the bottom of the hatch and use the supra rear bumper modified to fit a celica..

the front i've attempted on my own with mild results at a very amature skill level and very very little time spent on it
a custom hood really isn't too much of an issue to make as you can use a stock hoo sliced up to fit and fabricate the needed fillers to the gaps

but i've sent you a picture of mine you now have the picture of the #1 best supra rear so good luck

I think it's way more hassle than it's worth. No matter how you look at it, money is an issue. I don't think you realize the amount of money it would take to make it look good.

Personally, I think conversions are poser-ish.

I think your money could be better spent somewhere else. There's a chance you could start your project, get frustrated with it, and be left with nothing but a ruined car and not even near complete project.

Maybe adding a Supra wide bodykit. With that the tailights shouldnt look too cramped and youll have the extra space to play with the tailight placing

Sigh, trying to take all the dissing and non getting behind me as a good thing, even thou its hard after wanting a something that resembles a supra again. I am glad i asked you guys about the work and what to do. I am going to drop the supra conversion idea whole smile.gif. I plan to just grab a body kit, possibly the Varis body like 1 one said, but i have to look. Then look into the projection lights or w\e he said, then go from there. As for the taillights... no one commented on the afterburners. What should i do? Keep mine? or go afterburners... or try oreos if that is even possible?

if you want a nice looking-non rice car- DO NOT get afterburners. get JDMs, or do the oreo supra style rear mod. I have not seen any supra tail light only mods that look good...if you're gonna do the tails go balls out and do the rear bumper too...I mean just look at it. check these links out

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...ght%20mod&st=20
If you aren't going to do the supra rear conversions do the mod with the LED rings..I think those guys are bad lookin

dont dump your plans completely because of what other people say. take the suggestions and compromise maybe...its your car do what you want

the front may be too much trouble and not work well but i think you should go for the rear cause you know it can be done well...the supra lights and rear bumper...the oreo way

and it would turn more heads being half supra half celica anyway...you could get the old CelicaSupra badges laugh.gif

personally, i like the celica the way it is and wouldnt change it but id kill for a supra biggrin.gif

if you like the way it looks personally i think a mini supra would look great! the rear and front have both been done before, just never on the same car....but always always do wat you want and think looks good not wat other people think

just remember this. it's your car, you're doing the work and you're the one that has to live with the direction you go with it. Personally I am going to do the Oreo supra rear, CF hatch, CF roof(yes ROOF), CF hood, zyclone front modified a tad, and maybe some TRD OEM sides.and of couse projectors with black or hyper black wheels to set it all off

this is my friends car, he is currently away at boot camp but he just painted it from the green to this blue:

here is the green

i like the oreo way better, but the tilt is kinda cool on my friends lights, but i dont like how he tilted his license plate.

PS: he bought it like this

i agree with the others above^ its your car, do what you want, but its nice to get ideas from everyone else's opinions. Just take all the things you like from every other car and make your car how you want it tongue.gif

yikes, i guess everyones entitled to do what they want with their cars, but im not a fan of the tilted look... They look out of place, and almost upside down or something. Im just not a fan of the supra tails even on the supra, to me the JDM tails option just looks way better. Even doing some circular LEDs at the most extreme. I would like to see a supra-ish conversion though.... i say go for it, worst comes to worst , it doesnt work!

I would say in this order:

Go Supra Tails
Go JDM Celica Tails (really don't understand what the hype is with these. They don't look all that much different, but to each his own.)
Stay Stock
Afterburners

I put afterburners last just because I think they look nasty. It's not even that they're "rice" more, they just break up the lines of the rear end. A good Supra conversion looks SHARP if done well.

take this into consideration as well....your cars downtime. factor in ho9w long it will take you do do the whole supra rear. If your celica is your daily driver you might want to put it on hold and do the LED rings. these are my plans(im not telling you to do this but just giving ideas) get a can of transparent red paint, paint the tails all red(i have a red car do it hsould look nice), and do the LED mod and leave that in until i get enough cash flow/ parts/time to fo the supra rear. and I agree with zac on this one too...afterburners are ....the suck to be honest
