do you have them wired up to light up white during the day? are they still hard to see when they are white?

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 8, 2007 - 11:16 PM) do you have them wired up to light up white during the day? are they still hard to see when they are white? is that what that other wire is for? lol. there was one that was supposed to be hooked up to a switched source (as in, when you turn your headlights on). What I thought that would do would be to make them not light up during the day and then only light up with the headlights on, but since I didn't hook it up they are lit up blue 100% of the time. So, if I hook that up then they'll light up white during the day and blue when I turn the headlights on? do you know a good wire to hack into for a switched power source that's easy to get to? -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

yeah the idea is that they are supposed to be bright white during the day. just buy a fuse tap and tap into your radio fuse for a switched 12v.

i dont have these gauges, but im guessing you need.... power, ground, and illumination. get power from radio fuse, and for illumination you can splice into the light around your cig lighter or anything else that would normally turn on when you turn your lights on.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2007 - 11:01 AM) what about the green/white gauges? do they match our interior well? do the gauges even look good in green? ok here's the deal with the green gauges. Stef has them with the 2 gauge pod. they light up great in the day white, not the best pics but they are very readable in white durring the daytime. ![]() ![]() and at night they light up bright green. They cannot be dimmed and are much brighter then the stock green bulbs (pic below) ![]() now if you get some green LEDs for the stock gauge cluster, (she did later) then they will match much better, but not perfect, just much better. Here's a pic of the green LEDs in the stock gauge cluster. ![]() Now I can't find a pic of the LEDs and the guages together, I'll keep looking and post it up if I find it. my opinion pros : they are pretty inexpensive and look good cons : they aren't as easy to wire as other gauges because of the 2 color output (white/day, green/night), they can't be dimmed, they can't be wired to a dimable light source (or they won't light up properly at all), and the fittings/senders they come with are kinda generic. -------------------- |

QUOTE(Batman722 @ Jul 10, 2007 - 10:34 AM) my opinion Can't be dimmed?!?!? That is HORRIBLE. pros : they are pretty inexpensive and look good cons : they aren't as easy to wire as other gauges because of the 2 color output (white/day, green/night), they can't be dimmed, they can't be wired to a dimable light source (or they won't light up properly at all), and the fittings/senders they come with are kinda generic. Blinding, distracting, and worst of all: cop magnet... ![]() Are you sure they just don't work with the rising-ground dimming that Toyota uses? (my gauges wire up directly to the bulbs so I don't worry on my Camry... on my WRX, I had to make an inverting circuit to dim my gauges) I'll find the circuit to use if they can be dimmed from the power-side of the circuit and post it here (radio shack has all the necessary parts). -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

I believe the reason people with the blue gauges have trouble seeing them is because they don't have the color change option like the other colors, they are just blue all the time and that itself makes them harder to read in the day time.
Art, you should have told me you were thinking about buying them. I would have showed you mine in intimate detail, problems and all -------------------- |

yeah those are the ones. i installed them today.
the good: they look very cool. peak hold is effn sweet! no more nylon vac tubing to deal with very accurate tiny oil pres sender! the bad: install did take a lot longer then your average autometer a little hard to see during the day, but not terrible a little too bright during the night had to shave the lotek pillar a little to get them to fit over all, i like these a lot. i just wish prosport would ditch this whole idea of trying have the defi smoke out look. if they just made a normal gauge, that was reverse light, then i think that would work alot better in the real world. All in all, given your pros and cons, I still feel like these are a hot buy. What's another hour or two outta the weekend for the extra install? I nominate these gauges for a hot-buy
