Background: Ok guys here's the deal. We have found a company to make us cleared plastic lenses for the celica. As of right now the regular pricing on these would be $110 for the lows or $105 for the highs. In a previously relayed e-mail from Lovo, the pricing was set at $100 but after further inspection of the lights and some long phone calls, the price went a bit higher. Shipping is also a standard $10 on all of his lenses.
News: Here's what I can tentatively offer right now. *All deals must also include appropriate paypal fees if paying by that* 1)Clear low beam lenses for $90 plus $8 shipping. 2)Clear high beam lenses for $85 plus $8 shipping. 3)All four lenses for $170 plus $10 shipping. That is a decently priced savings on an already good price in my opinion. Details: I am mailing out a set of lenses tomorrow so that he can make the mold. The bad part about this is that I will be losing ALL four lenses because of how he makes the lense. And honestly that REALLY sucks. (if someone would like to donate their old lenses to me upon receiving the new lenses it would be much appreciated) The turn around time is not set in stone either. Expect to wait around few weeks to a month before getting these. In order for us to obtain these prices I must get atleast 10 (TEN) customers for each set. PLEASE READ: Because the light output is unknown at this time, I will be taking before and after pictures to ensure you are as informed as possible about what you will be getting into. Generally speaking, the light outpout onto the road will not be as good. It most likely will be a lot more focused and not spread out on the road. This brings up the question of HIDs. I will most likely buy a HID set to test out the before and after on these also atleast for the low beams. With all that said, these lenses will NOT meet DOT certification and are technically for "offroad use only" I will not be liable to problems associated with the lenses at ALL. I will provide a how-to on how to properly install these. Other options: I will be pricing out how much it costs to chrome the inner front housing piece also. I plan to fiberglass and bondo the ridges to get a smooth appearance then test out the chroming option. I do not have a price for this yet. Please e-mail ME with all questions as though Josh will not likely answer emails due to his busy schedule. As of today, I'm at the head of this operation and in charge. This means to email me with all questions and I will compile a FAQ and relay the questions to Josh. Thanks With all of this said; let the list begin: Clear Lows: 1) dustin15brown 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10) Clear Highs: 1) dustin15brown 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10) This post has been edited by dustin15brown: Oct 7, 2007 - 4:22 PM -------------------- ![]() |

ONE SMALL THING:
These lenses will only be GOOD if you are going to RETROFIT projectors in your headlights. If you put these clear lenses on your STOCK lights - you will not have ANY CUT OFF - and will be blinding EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. Cuz frosted lense on celica headlights is for proper light disperse and proper cut off. On the newer cars (when they have clear glass and NO projectors) reflector housing is formed so - that it could disperse the light and make the cutoff, glass has no impact on all this. On our celicas - its vise versa (glass disperse the light and makes cutoff - reflector only focuses light to the glass) -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Although you won't be blinding people from everything I've read, the light will just be a lot more focused and potentially not helpful for nighttime driving. But, these are perfect for those planning on retrofitting projectors or those using these primarily for show use -------------------- ![]() |

I'm def. interested, however the biggest issue is not knowing the quality of the lens. I don't want something that will haze within a couple years, I have to know if these lens will withstand the harshness of winter and road crap blast.
How thick will these lens be? What type of plastic will be used? Any protection coating and UV resistance? Will the lens be the exact shape of the old lens (on the outside)? I will check the pattern most likely in a few days... I am trying to find a clear adhesive to seal up the lights that is not permanent. If you are 100% sure getting these regardless of light output, PM me and you may get to be the test lights if you can mail me a set.

i just purchased my rebased bulbs for my HID set, so i figured out that the stock lens definately does not do much for how the light is projected except for dirt or obstructions in the light because of how its refracted. before when i had the wrong bulb base the lens didn't do much to make the light cutoff. now with the correct bulb base, sitting in the housing correctly, the light cutoff is perfect. and also adding the fact that these bulbs are rebased D2R bulbs made in germany, specially made for reflective lenses vs. projectors helps, i think; lol.

QUOTE(Lovo @ Jul 24, 2007 - 9:04 AM) Then please correct me, I'm just talking from what I observed. Frosted lens defines the pattern, and are made to refract some light over the horizon. HID cutoff sends almost zero lights above the horizon. Putting a HID..which output almost 3X the lumens of an halogen bulbs will send too much lights into the eyes of incoming traffic (and that doesnt help you seeing better at night too). Yes these bulbs you got are made for reflectors HID...celica doesn't use reflectors it uses a parabolic/free forming reflector to direct the light on the frosted lens to make some very very bad pattern. -------------------- ![]() -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

What did you expect them to look like? If you have an attainable goal, I will see what we can do to make it happen

QUOTE(REDDRAGONCELI @ Jul 24, 2007 - 3:24 PM) efore u gearheads start tryin to say that they will throw to much light let the man test them and see plus is there anymore of a discount on a larger order the way this is going we may have enough for 20 thats double u may wanna check and see if he can give u a better deal that may draw more buyers. Is there such a thing as too much light with a cut off? I like plenty of light and a very cool projector lens...I say F..k em. He has a great offer and you can get something really special that looks good for a great price. If you are a purest..You would own Aston Martin...Not Toyota. When in rome do as the romas do... |

ok here's the deal guys. I wanted to have pics posted up by today, but I've been sick for a few days so nothing has gotten accomplished. I will *hopefully* have those up mid week or so...
Also- I have received a few pm's regarding the 'yellowing' or 'fogging' issues that many plastic lenses come in contact with. As stated earlier in the thread from Josh. Yellowing and fogging has never been an issue as long as they are installed properly. The main reason for the yellowing is in the UV coating, and Josh says there's a good UV coat on them. The fogging occurs when there's a leak in the seal around the light. This problem is easily avoidable if you install the lights properly and make sure there are no leaks. As with everyone else, I'm getting a set of these for myself, so I'll try to help as much as i can! Continue with the questions if you have them! -------------------- ![]() |

ok guys here's the deal now. First of all my digicam is a POS and wouldn't work correctly so I used a ghetto and i mean GHETTO digicam to take these pics. I also have a few on my phone i'll upload tomorrow.
The lights look AMAZING on the car.... Seriously.... I even called my dad to come over to the building just to look at them since I knew the pics wouldn't be that hot. Lighting issues: Just as I has guessed. The beam is a lot more focused causing the light output to not properly light up the road. There are no issues with blinding oncoming cars AT ALL. I do suspect that HIDS will be a major issue with blinding people though. At the same time, those already without projectors that do have HID's are already blinding people, so there's no change. The highs are also a lot more focused. They still adequately light up the road when on though. My personal opinion is *theoretically, since these are for off-road use only in the first place because they will not meet DOT inspection* that if you're driving around a decently lit town you'd be fine only using your lows, but if you live in a darker town that still has a lot of traffic, these may not be for you because you would need to use your highs. Here are some of the pics, and I will upload the rest tomorrow because it's 3 freakin AM and this has consumed my entire night. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These pics are with the front silver piece painted black. This is a little more subtle look, but I enjoy looking at both of these looks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and yes, i know my car is filthy dirty -------------------- ![]() |

good job dustin. those looks pretty awesome. next chance you get, try to take a pic of the lighting on a dark road. but only if you're feeling completely healthy.
