ok so we've had threads about posting your likes and dislikes of your 6gc, but now post about the most useless feature you think is on the 6gc..

mine is the rear ashtray....

because honestly, i never ride with anyone in the back seats 99% of the time. but when i did, it would be someone too small to even make use of the ashtray...

I'd say the ashtrays, I don't smoke and there sure is no-one who'll ever be allowed to smoke in my car!

The cupholders are a good second, but I can see those being using when parked or something...

Right behind the middle arm rest.

In my case, I'll have to say the coins holder and the rear ashtray

My back seats...I'm tall enough to where noone can really sit behind me...and of course the rear ashtray. Also, I have no use for the 'cubbies' in the doors, useless.

the coins holder

That's a good one! I use my ashtray to hold change. Even for those that want to use the coin holder for its intended purpose, I doubt it is actually functional for most. For a long time I wondered what those little notches were - do they hold a power cord, some kind of accessory such as a mini-fridge for drinks cans, an alternative location for a cigarette lighter, car phone?

Okay, on to my choice. I say the coat hooks. Only twice have I tried to use them (the second time I temporarily forgot that I had previously attempted to use them). There isn't enough room to hang a suit carrier or jacket on a coat hanger. In the unlikely event that you manage to carefully position the said jacket or suit carrier and fold the garments around all the obstacles, five minutes down the road, the hanger will 'pop off' the hook and end up in a crumpled heap behind the seat.

Ill agree with the cupholders, especially with a 5sp. Sheesh no point, ashtrays are meant to be used as coin holders [I never knew my car came with a coin Holder!!!] Even in my 00 GTS ashtray = coinholder.

Electronically Controlled Transmission. It's an Automatic thing. Most Toyotas have them. All it does is delay the upshifting, providing more higher RPM, more power, waste more gas.

I´d have to say cupholders, and ashtrays...even though I´m a smoker, I´ve never in my life lit a cigarette inside my car, nor let anyone else light one, so those ashtrays inside are just a big waste of space!

I even took out the cigarette lighter (it was way too big, and sticking from the console)...START button was supposed to go there, but I never had time to install it... smile.gif

I honestly think the front ash tray is very useful as I have it filled with all sorts of coins.

I didn't know we have clothes hanger in the back...

I totally agree with purplegt4. 7AFE is definitely to most useless piece of crap feature of the Celica.

idk about anyone else, but the button on the hvac control that lets you select inside or outside air feed is ALWAYS on outside -- b/c the windows seem to fog up INSTANTLY if i put it on the other setting.

i'm not a huge fan of the light in the cargo area either. it's too dim to really see anything anyway.

the lug wrench that toyota provides is a joke. if your lugs are torqued appropriately, you'll have a heck of a time trying to get them off with that puny little thing, especially when you have a puncture.

on top of all that, i put in additional useless votes for the backseat, rear ashtray, and cupholder.

I can shift with a soda can in the cup holder (I have the padded arm rest), bottle wise I have to put it on the passenger side seat (it doesn't even fit in there anyway.....), and as for fast food drinks, like what phonex98 said, I have to put my arm a lil bit closer to myself to not touch the straw, and shift with my finger hanging down with my arm resting on the side of the lid........ If it's a tall cup, I'll have to put it between my legs... tongue.gif

in my car...my non-working aftermarket sunroof that leaks, the rear ashtray and when i got the sparcos in, my back seats. I measured it up b4 i took em out, i have only about 3.5" between the metal under the rear seat and where the sparcos bases meet up. So unless your an amputee, or are under the age of 10, you can fit in my backseat perfectly.

Its not Impossible. I can put in a Medium McDonald drink (0.4 liter) in it and shift without problems. Its only a bit awkward

You sorta develop a technique... i call it 'the crane. Hand on shifter, bend wrist to 90 degrees, elbow in the air tongue.gif

Cup holders. And they can't even fit a big ole gas station cup. (not like I'd want something so large blocking the shifter anyways) So when I was on road trips, I'd wedge my beverage between the seat's side bolster and the door skin. Worked great.

The ashtray has more uses than just holding change! Idk if anyone has noticed this, but it also meant to hold cards i think. Such as business cards or possibly credit cards. Try it, they fit perfectly. Try it try it! Haha but i think it is kind of stupid (although kind cool) that the ashtray has a light in it. Is that meant so that you can see your ashes even during the night? haha.

And hey, don't hate on the Cupholders, my BMW doesn't even have any at all haha. Even my Alltrac (which was sold last night frown.gif ) had a wierd location for cup holders. It was right below the CD player so you couldn't load cds and have cups at the same time. Also it was difficult to shift into 1st, 3rd, and 5th if you had big cups becuase your hand would hit the cups.

IMO, i think the most useless feature on the Convertible Celica is the Convertible top cover. Convertible owners should know what im talking about. It's a REALLY bulky heavy piece that doesn't make the car look any better and takes a several minutes to install. With this in the already small trunk, there isn't any room to put anything else in there haha.

You should sell that vert cover...they go for like 8 million dollars.
People have created cup holders that go in replace of the cubby hole below the cd player. However if you have a double din obviously its not possible.

My vote is the backseat though. As big as I am no one fits. I removed the rear ashtray and put in another cigarette lighter type thing for car chargers, since im charging my ipod, phone etc all the time.

Yeah, I would say the back seat. Only like 3-4 people have sat on it for the 5 years I've had the car. Even people under 5"5" have trouble back there, and I can feel the weight difference. I totally eliminated that sucker. Saved me like 5-10 pounds with all the seat belt stuff and garbage hardware, LOL. rolleyes.gif The things weighs next to nothing. tongue.gif

agreed, also agree with the pass window lock but i think its a child safty thing. agree with the sunroof thing too, annoying, if i want to stop it half way i will, dont have to make me do it, friend of mine always made fun of me for it saying it was useless, his did not have it, pissed me off when i found out my subaru had it too.

you want useless, my subaru cup holders, 1 is ok, mounted just under the center vents, pulls out and holds ok, bocks air to the pass but thats there problem (also when heater on cooks the drink good.) but the 2nd cup holder, man what a joke. in the center console lower compartment, mine has the lid that holds a few pens etc about 1 inch tall, then that swings up to the deep one that is very small already but has 2 swinging flaps that snap up making a very annoying devider kinda thing, then flip down creating a circle to hold a very short drink but nothing else can fit it there. sept some very small crap or paper.

I have to say coin slots are useless but i understand that one might want to keep change in there for a toll every day, useless here because the only toll i know off is the new tacoma narros brige and its 3 lowsy bucks to cross that thing.

i would have to agree with backseat..the last time i had people in the backseat it was like gettin a nice set of lowering springs..bottoming out on the most ridiculous bumps and speedbumps were nightmares..the rear ashtray is where i put my air freshener (ironic)..

the front ashtray, however, has become a great use to me. i put my phone in there because i cant hear it in my pocket due to exhaust+intake+radio+outside traffic with windows down. that lil ashtray even lights up at night! how awesome is that! you can see where u drop your ashes so u dont burn the car (if you smoke) but it lets me find where the hell my phone is smile.gif

I'd say the most useless thing in my car is the cup holder, I've spilled so many drinks in my passenger seat cuz they dont fit.

the 7A-FE engine is pretty useless for anyone with performance driving in mind. I got my a$$ kicked by a Mazda Miata the other day. The 2007's are pretty sweet though. Their power-to-weight ratio is incredible.

I kinda like the concept of those, I've been in plenty of countries where they are mandatory, and I always see cars better when they are far away, and maneuvering. But I am used to not having them. They serve no benefit to you the driver, but to other drivers.

Most useless for me, are the sun visors.

Hahahha So true!!!

I myself am quite familiar with The Crane - being a girl with the small, nimble hands of the Japanese folks who designed this car, I have mastered The Crane with relative ease. I just saw Blades of Glory on DVD last night, and have just realized The Crane isn't too different from The Iron Lotus if you have one of the following in your "cup" holder: anything larger than a standard 16 oz cup; anything smaller than a 16 oz cup; anything hot; anything cold; anything with a straw that is taller than what you can actually get your lips on. kindasad.gif
