get yourself a good manual.

first remove all the bulk on top of transmission (battery, cables, filter etc)

remove the fron tires, remove the left spindle out of way.

remove the axles. (this is tricky)

unbolt the tranny. drop it, then remove the pressure plate, remove the clutch. and viceversa. one day i think i will write it up, when im done with a test am preparing for.

edit (added pics) this was done on a 2.2 but pretty much the same.

the tranny must go down laugh.gif

clutch already in, the flywheel was resurfaced.

Actually you can do this without dropping the tranny, but you still will need to unbolt it and support it in place..... Bad part is you'll have to pull the engine. I just did mine recently, shoulda taken pics and done a mini write up. It's easy, just make sure you have everything you need(all tools, parts, fluids) before attempting this. The worst part for mine were the bolts on the control arm( have liquid wrench ready) and getting off my front rotors( RUSTED on, yes all caps for emphasis lol). Other than that it's all straight forward and pretty easy. Buy a book or find a friend that knows what they are doing around cars and you'll be fine. This wasn't my first time around an engine, but was my first time doing a clutch job by myself and at an at home setting.

wouldnt it be easier to pull the tranny out than the engine?

i never done it, so im curious.. I know you can pull the whole thing out with tranny and do it like that.

well everybody has their style.

Yeah I'm with you, how exactly is pulling the entire engine out easier than just dropping the tranny?

You must be cold not wearing the pants. LOL Just kidding with you. Yeah, after reading this, I would be a little nervous attempting this myself without someone there to help or guide me. I just paid $750 to have mine done. Though I would like to try it myself sometime when I buy a better clutch.

And by the way, that sounds like a good woman there. Looking out for your best interests.

Definitely a good woman lookin out for best interests there..... I wasn't saying pulling the motor out was easier, the question was is there another way to change it without takin out the tranny..... I thought everyone would get that the 2nd option was worse since i said "bad part is..." lol...... but yeah, good luck with the shop, make sure they use quality parts and get the other stuff replaced as well as mentioned above
