FYI: Just spoke with a distributor- $1,279 per kit / $1,157 if 4 or more are bought. Hope this atleast gives you a comparison for what you find them for smile.gif

i talked to a distributor a few weeks ago as well and was told $1026 and one other i spoke to said they would cost him $1250+ so for me he'd sell them for $1300 and he'd only make a profit of $50 kindasad.gif . it depends on how honest the distributor wants to be about their profit margin. some people are just too greedy. These kits haven't been built yet so they will be brand new from the factory and will take aprox. 90 days to receive them from japan.

I personally want to go with tanabe for the following reasons
  • made in japan
  • name recognition and over all track record of tanabe
  • rebuildable in the us
  • higher springrate then teins
  • i dont have to constantly play around with dampening.. id rather have it clear cut and dry so my car is more predictable all the time

My thoughts is that I'd rather go with KSport. They are proven as you can see them in many premiere magazines. I don't mean to sway your decisions but this is my email from Ksport themselves. There are a lot of parts out there that you pay for the name especially top quality brands that don't perform significantly better than average, competitor products. You decide.

Full kit is $900. the kit is complete, no other parts are necessary for installation.

You can call us at 480-829-8100

Thanks,
Nick J.

Still beats most other prices out there. I'd be down. Hopefully Craig can find a better deal than that. Thanks for looking around Jeff. smile.gif

I'm up for a GB of either D2's or K-Sports.

For those that don't know, you can get a set of D2's for $890 shipped here:

Thanks GotToyota but if i wanted D2's or Ksports or G4's or whatever they are i would probably allready have them now. I like Tanabe as a company and know they are trustworthy parts. I have heard bad things about the Ksports/Etc. and am not interested in potentially having a problem with them that will cause me more headaches. For me this is one of two options at this point, tanabe coilovers or the ground control and koni combo smile.gif

Speaking of the second option (GC/Koni) how much does that setup usually run?

And how do they compare to coilovers? Because I'd be using my car on the track sometimes, so I'm not sure if that setup would be stiff enough, but I could be wrong.

ive been into ksport for the past few months. every once in a while i come across a person who says bad things about it.
supposedly they are alot stiffer than tein ss's

i remember researching tanabes. i never go into them for some reason.

would this group buy be for the SOC II? do they have front and rear adj. camber plates?

i dont know yet

i am doing suspension work in may. if i decide not to go with ksports you can seriously put me down for the gb.

the tanabes dont only have a solid plate in the back and on the front they use the stock ones. airfron and i have both got our hands on cusco upper pillowball mount camper plates for the front.

and yes this would be for the SOC'S still trying to find prices on both the type one (no helper) and the type two's helper spring.

i gave up on the super vip auto shop on valley david is a nice guy but to busy. Im guna call up evasive and if that doesnt work out im going with jeffs guy.... cus i need them now.

Adjustability
Front-1/2~-2 1/2in

Rear -1/4~-2in

Spring Rate in kg/mm
FR 8.0
Rear 6.0

Adjustable camber plates are not necessary as these would bolt on to your stock mounts as well, but would be useful wink.gif . I got mine for ~$250 from here

As far as shipping to canada... i don't know exactly how that would work out. I think that we would have to recieve them from lewfx and then ship them to you. so it'd take a little longer.

For a GB in the FS section we'd have to get coomers approval through one of the mod and if we do set up a GB everything would be through Jeff so he'd have to be included in it.

But it might get more interest sparked because more people look at the Buying/Selling area.

I'd say go for it

the rears come with a solid aluminum mount and the fronts do not come with any as the stock ones can be used.

W00T!!! woot.gif i got a check from good ol george and am back in this if you guys are willing to get the type 1's.

I did some reading and stuffs and found out that the type 1's are more to my liking for street conditions, as they do have the helper spring to assist the assembly. The type 1's are also significantly cheaper than the type 2's. Which i hope is not an error on tanabe's part, because the type ii's are supposed to be the budget model of the two models available for the 94-99 celica.

From http://tanabe-usa.com/

Type I
Celica (ST202) 94-99 8.0 / 6.0 -1/2~-2 1/2in / -1/4~-2in TSC083 $990.00

Type II
Celica (ST202) 94-99 8.0 / 6.0 -1/2~-2 1/2in / -1/4~-2in TSC083X $1,200.00

I also spoke to LEWFX and he estimated that the prices for these would be as follows. (These prices are based on a GB of a minimum of three sets.)

Type I : $872

TypeII : $1075

And if anyone is interested in ordering some extra springs for the tanabe pro 210 coilover system as well as the helper springs, here is a link that has some at a great price Click Me.

Edit: Corrections and Info added
