Can someone confirm for me if there is a difference between skirts for a hatch and skirts for a coupe?
I am looking for a set of urethane ones (due to ruggedness) and it seems that the only urethane ones would be OEM. That leaves me with tracking down a set of 96+OEM skirts. Are these the same as SS-III skirts? Will they fit on a coupe (or more specifically, a convertible) I did a search, but was unable to find some concrete evidence (ie someone putting OEM 96+ skirts on their coupe w/ no mounting/fitment issues). I can't confirm as I haven't ever swapped skirts from model to model but I do know first hand that D-man's stock vert mini-skirts [

Corey. as far as i have read the only skirts that won't work with all 6gc models (for the most part) is the oem skirts that i have(also known as ssiii skirts). they won't fit on a vert. otherwise they all will work with all 6gcs. the rear on the other hand.... rear lips and bumpers are different on the hatch then the coupe and vert but the coupe and vert are exchangable. -------------------- |

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between 96+OEM and SS-III.
Do you know what sort of modification would be needed to fit a set of OEM skirts on a coupe? DEATH, can you maybe get more info on the "mini-skirts"? Are they the rubber/plastic things in his prof pic? I have those as well. Where are the mounting points? How are they different? |

There are only two types of OEM side skirts.
a) "common" ones used for GT-fours, SS-I, SS-II, SS-III, GT, ST, CV, hatchbacks or coupes... just one part for all 6gen models around a world. b) "dealers option" ones also called "TRD". Distributed only for JDM models. difference is visible for a first sight (common OEM on dark blue, TRD ones on white GT-four): ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- No more replicas... This is evolution... This is SS-four :)

Which sort of "skirts" do I currently have? I am 99% sure they are OEM.
BTW, which version of the splitter do you have in those pics? Are they the chrisc ones? ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by 6gsillyca: Apr 30, 2008 - 1:14 AM |

those are just the stock convertible skirts. all verts have those IIRC

Well I have a set of fiberglass TRD/Dealer option skirts that I am contemplating install on. They are a very good quality set made by doggy.
As for the skirts, I thought they were stock vert skirts, but Martin did not mention anything about them, so I thought there could be a possibility they are aftermarket.. |

^ I have never seen those skirts before... however to make things more complicated I can show you this: TRD side skirts (see my prev. post) are JDM dealers option skirts... I can confirm European dealers had "option skirts" as well: ![]() Skirts available only for European models and offered only between years 94-95. See this post for more info. So... I can not exclude there are some "US dealers option side skirts" as well... but EPC has no sign of any dealers option parts This post has been edited by malpaso: Apr 30, 2008 - 3:22 AM -------------------- No more replicas... All side skirts made for the hatch fit the coupe.
The skirts on the convertible are OEM convertible but likely made by the company who did the convertible chop (ASC). And, SillyCA, not putting on those dealer option sides would be a shame! You shouldn't need "rugged" skirts anyway - its not like you are planning to go 4-wheelin in the vert! - Jay -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

Fear not Jay, I will be getting those skirts on as soon as I get her up 'n' running again!
After re-reading your original GB thread I have fallen in love with these again. And the work Romas does, its amazing! I can't wait to get em on now. Those fitment pictures are top notch! ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by 6gsillyca: May 1, 2008 - 12:58 AM |
