you will need a new transmission from a gt 94-99, shifter cables, ecu, probably new axles, change motor mount position(not as hard as everyone makes it out to be, your drilling 2 holes...), gt throttle cable i believe, and rear disc conversion if you were doing a makeover to a gt. Might be some loose odds and ends here, but I think that is about it

Might as well swap a 3S - the process is the same. wink.gif

x2 w/ death.

3s and 5s is the same motor, the 5s is basically (for ease of understanding) just "Bored out" a bit larger, boasting it's 2.2L.
The 7a is (still similar in most ways) yet different. Pretty much Laff09 sumed it up, and remember there will be a few extra hardware pieces required.
But for the money spent on the 5s, why not just get a 3s clip? a few dollars more; compared to a few hundred horses wink.gif This is Houston buddy, you know people laugh.gif wink.gif

I just said that for lack of better term.
I know for a fact that its just the interior size of the cylinder that makes a 3s or a 5s. exterior motor is identical smile.gif

That's a pretty damn good deal. If you dont buy it; i will biggrin.gif

EDIT: any swap is going to be a pain; so do whatever is easiest on you. In this case a cheap, yet efficient N/A 5s seems to be an obvious choice. I'd say to go for it. biggrin.gif

5s, FTW!!

well, it's cheaper than i got my 5s for, plus with only 43,000 miles on it, I'd say it's a pretty good price.

But if you know where to pick up a 5s-fte or 3s-gte for less than $500; i'm all ears biggrin.gif

Didn't you already explain this?

We dont even know what's included in his package. He may have a hook-up for the rest; or he may not. But if he can get some other premium prices like this 550 motor, than he shouldn't have any problem; yeah?

550 for the entire thing sounds too good to be true. Has to be only motor only w/o ecu and tranny and wire harness. Not sure if you can still use the 7a wire harness...

haha and the 5s and 3s are really "identical" the colling passages have a different route and the walls are thicker and stronger... no wear spot between cyl 2 and 3.... but you wont be boosting it so no wories there...

That is a pretty sweet deal, however...you have no use for the awd transmission. You'll have to either get the s54 (gt tranny) or the e153 (mr2 turbo tranny) but ifyou go with the mr2 tranny, you'll hve some work to do. But if you go with the s54 tranny, you'll have to get st205 flywheel, clutch, etc. Look up on the stickies..research is your friend!

To answer your original question. NO. The 7A is an "A" Series engine and therefore your car has the engine mounts for an "A" series engine. Easy swaps are 4A engines

Yes the 5S can be put into your ST, as it has been done before, but it does require more work to put in an S series engine. If you were putting in an "S" series engine than you might as well put in a 3S instead of a 5S.

In any case you will need to change ECU, etc.

IT REQUIRES DRILLING 2 HOLES. If your down to do a swap, who cares about 15 minutes?
..anyway
