first I bought these, st205 calipers, rotors, lines.

then to make them bolt on, I shaved off a few mm from the mounting points

remove old pads and hardware and give a quick paint job

then got new pads, shim kit, pins, ect

and installed in the calipers

next step is
1. getting the 205 rotors trimmed from 315mm to 298mm
2. getting spacers, either 10mm or 15mm (I need to test/measure, then install them)
3. bolt on (I'm not sure if I'm gonna tap my hub or use nuts/bolts), bleed lines, drive

I'll update as I get things done.

no I don't want GT rotors for GT-Four brakes because they don't fit, I already have GT-Four rotors.

they hit the ball joint sideways, the diameter has nothing to do with them clearing the balljoints. you have to play with the offset of the disc to push them away from them, but every car is different I guess, so I'm sure you'll make them work on yours.

the 205 rotors clear my balljoint just fine, at least 3-5 mm. The only prob I have is the caliper sits on top of the rotor and one caliper bolt goes in, the other didn't.

hmm, that's odd, I didn't run into that at all, and the 3-5 mm clearance on the balljoint is an issue, once the car is on the ground and you turn the wheel, the suspension will flex enough to allow contact.

I'll take pictures of my hub / ST205 disc bolted together, I can't see why yours wouldn't, unless ST and GT hubs are slightly different after all.

Sweet, man. I'm got my calipers and rotors from Jim (thanks for the trade, big guy biggrin.gif) and I need to buy that pin and shim kit with the pads. I'm getting my calipers powdercoated in candy red with clear. Should look sweet.

Reducing the diameter of rotors u'll reduce the braking torque...Why upgrade callipers only? The biggest part is given by the diameter...using the same pieces u'll have only a little advantage...

I agree with Culp. I'm starting to think the ST and GT knuckles are in fact slightly different. Luckily, I'm fabbing up brackets for my ls430 calipers all the way around on the celi.

We just bought a house with a 2.5 car garage and we're moving in less than 4 weeks, everything's been on hold until then.
I'll be doing the rears also with the fronts.

I drilled and tapped the hubs m14-1.5, got 25mm stainless bolts, had the rotors trimmed to 300mm, and over a year later I finally got around to installing them.

more to come in a few days.

ok to recap

I bought a set of calipers and rotors.
I bought new pads and the fit kit from toyota (supra pads/kit).
I shaved off a few mm from the mounting points on the calipers so they would be centered with the gt-four rotors.
Painted the calipers up nice and shiny.
I finally had the rotors trimmed to 300mm.

installing
Removed the old brakes and drilled out the holes on the hubs from the stock calipers.
The stock calipers bolt on the rotor (outer) side of the hub. The GT-Four calipers bolt onto the engine (inner) side of the hubs.
I used a M14-1.5 tap and bought stainless steel bolts (so they won't rust) to match (M14-1.5 x 25mm). The tap and bolts I used are a little big, I could of went with smaller ones but didn't.
I drilled out the hub holes to accept the bigger bolts and tapped them.
I widened the holes on the calipers so the new bolt would slide through.
The bolts now go through the calipers and thread into the hubs, as opposed to the stock calipers going through the hub and threading into the calipers.
Bolted them on, bled the lines, now I have GT-Four brakes up front.

some notes, I have ss braided lines but they looked a bit short, I'll probably pick up new longer ones soon, JIC.
My wheels don't have a great offset so I installed 10mm spacers (front and rear) for clearance up front.
They wouldn't have fit without them with my wheels.
For giggles I tried one of Stef's wheels (enkei rs5s IIRC) and they didn't need any spacers, they have a great offset, they cleared the calipers just fine.

I'm just waiting for my bumper to get back from paint then I can actually drive my car again.

I also used some touch up paint (same as my car color) and painted the "celica" logo.

I've done this conversion on my JDM SS-I and it is such a pain in the ass! The increased braking power is great but the grief to get the front and rear brakes fitted...

Rear GT4 discs/calipers fitted.

Fronts fitted - how little clearance between caliper and wheel??

I (like everyone else, it seems) had to machine the discs down to 300mm. But they're still catching the lower balljoint, sadly. frown.gif

Hey, so here's a question. Is it possible to use GT rotors with 2mm spacers on each sides of the pads? Or is there another fitment issue?
