Hi,

thanks

i decided to use the 4th generation for the following reasons

- coil on plug (cam angle sensor & crank angle sensor)
- allegedly no cooling ways between the cylinders (which can cause a cracked block), like the gen.3

2nd version of the fuel rail, now with damper

slightly modified water outled, AN6 water connector for the turbo

blanked throttle body connector

and who knows a gen.3 water outlet know the difference, there are no 1000 sensor in it just one for the ECU and combi meter

denso 850cc injectors

that is it, i just hope to buy the turbocharger in january or february

Hi Alex smile.gif
see you are everywhere smile.gif. Just would like to ask what is benefit of gen5 throttle body and valve cover?

Hi Martin, there are three problems to solve with the valce cover

- find one that fit the top mounted wta intercooler
- that fit with the gen.3 center feed throtthle body
- and i need threads for the COP setup

the gen.4 will 90% not fit in front of the side feed TB and the higher intake manifold they used so i decided to try a gen.5
cover as toyota went back to a center feed TB on the latest version of the 3S-GTE so there space in the TB area
and hopefull the intercooler will fit but i have a bad feel.....if no one works i will modify the gen.3 cover.....

in front of a talk to a friend which uses a haltech ECU on his engine i got told that the ECU can 't can controll the ISCV
100% well so i will go for a haltech and the gen.5 TB don't have the valve attached as it is mounted on the side of the
intake manifold, the other reason is that i can use a standart hose from intercooler to TB which i want if i will use a
phenolic intake spacer to get a safe fitted hose

i hope that answers your questions but feel free to ask smile.gif

Hi,

update

more parts arrived me

- gen.4 oilpump
- crank position sensor
- tensioner and idlers
- water pump

the gen.3 part number delivers the plastic impeller pump with his way better design

corolla wrc exhaust manifold, 207spec

possible we modify the design to fit a T4 twin entry or we machine a adapter, the one thing that makes a adapter attractive is that we can change the position of the turbo so that he fit the IC again, but with a adapter there is one more gasket in the system -> one more thing that can faile

and today some pics from the SARD/ Denso 275L/H fuel pump

Hi,

and here the SARD fuel pump, she is 99% plug&play you just have to use the delivered connector (same style like oem but with different pins), and she fit the rubber

theoretical she should be the strongest plug&play fuel pump on the marke

Hi,

job done, thanks for all advises 8)

i let the wire a little bit longer, you never know
cutting is possible everytime

there is a M8 thread next the batterie (thanks toyota), i blanked it to get a good connection

you can clearly see nothing even the wire is in a tube, i walked behind the relais box (relocated the box ~1cm to get enough space) through a unused rubber into the fender

into the engine bay in direction old battery pole

and pressed the connection, here i also deciced a longer wire as to much could change in the engine bay

next week i should get the black diamond brakes, perfect as there is a bigger toyota event on weekend 8)
and i also pick up the repaired blitz hybrid turbo

here we see good clasps

i think the age is the reason

i now have a masterplan for the upgrade IC and a alu-welder so i just need a radiator core and we can start the job

unfortunetely i can't can tell you the exact setup for now, i also have to
learn by doing so after the build i can tell you

is there any special question you have i can possible answer yet?

here the story why i stock the parts

- a gen.3 cover do not have the COP mountings, a gen.4 cover have them but in front of the side mounted manifold there is no space for the TB when using
a center feed manifold, a gen.4 intake manifold is also higher -> so this is why i decided to buy a gen.5 cover as i use a gen.3 manifold with the ready mounted
water injection valve, and i will use the TTE intercooler also on the new engine

- the gen.5 TH was cheap and do not use the idle controll valve -> i possible go with a haltech valve -> so the setup should be more professional

today i received the upgrade intercooler front radiator, now i just have to weld mountings on him and build a air channel, it is a 3row 2flow one with 50mm depth against, 38mm 2row 2flow of the OEM one

if everthing goes right i become my car ready next week 8)

It shocks me that this is probably one of the best performance builds we have EVER had on this site, but yet no one seems to really post and show interest. Really shows the mentality of the members on this site.

Anyway this is breathtaking build and this will be one of the meanest best all around built gt4s on this site when its done! Good luck man and I'm subscribed to this thread thumbsup.gif

Is this upgraded charge cooler pre-rad???

correct, my OEM unit began to drain water so i deciced to go with a custom radiator without clasps that can go wrong, one row more to get more cooling and more water in the system.
all in all i hope to win especially the new pre rad should fit the TTE intercooler better, and i also hope for a lower start ampere consumption of the water pump as the new radiator should
lower the backpressure, now it goes up to nearly 30A at start up which is really the maximum for relays, fuses and wires, the reason for that is the TTE intercooler with his different radiator core

i hope i doesn't write to much biggrin.gif

I kept the standard W2A intercooler setup, from what everyone on this site says, is the best setup.

However at a recent GT4 meet I found all the guys who have changed to a regular FMIC all say there is no loss in the low end and major gains from the mid range up.

I was actually shocked when I looked at mine how restricted it is inside there to be honest, I'm thinking maybe a frozenboost item may be the way to go?

Hi,

unfortunetly i'am not really using a standart setup
- jabsco 80L/h pump
- TTE group a spec intercooler
- and now the new front radiator

your WTA intercooler is restricted? or your air to air?
what is a frozenboost item? -> liquid nitrogen or ice cubes? -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJR62vsAg-0 biggrin.gif

Hi,

small subjective report, the performance is constant up to the may rpm. like a cool day in spring or fall

but nothing is for free, i have ~5°C higher oil temp. against the oem pre-rad, so the oil can raise up to ~100°C whe i drive hard

looks like the next mod will be a street under panel, to get more air out of the engine bay

Hi,

thanks, me too i also want to see it finished, it could be hard but in front of some personal changes i changed from a long time step by step build to a target time project
which is (late) summer 2012. we will see there is a lot of parts buying, development and building left.....

Hi,

some things are done, i bought a cheap used TRD gauge cluster surrounding becouse a little bit bling bling is allowed

one of my targets for this year was to adjust the rear suspension but after 16year no toe adjusting was possible any more so i deciced to buy a set of pu-bushings, worked out the whohle arm and pressed in ne new ones, for that you have to dismount the longitude arm, the problem was the bolt when i opened him the whole bolt with the buching turns which means i destroyed it so i also had to pu-bush it but i doesn't want to dismount everything so i build a tool for that work

it works perfect and when it becomes to strong just heat it a little bit, but just to press the old one out

Hi,

small update

a modified underpanel with the target to raise the air flow trough the radiators and the engine bay

a small plate to protect the gearbox radiator connectors

tomorrow i will mount a fire-extinguisher, and then it is enough for this year

I'm really interested in trying to further cool my engine, I was curious about the SARD breather tank and where you have it installed, have an pics? Did you notice a difference?

Hi,

here some pics for you, i cutted the lower part of the radiator cap on the radiator to allow water/air flow to the tank

the limited space is the competition, i decided to use this location becouse there was space but on the negativ side there are the long hose ways

a breathing system is a good way to get air out of the cooling system especially when you use a 2flow or 3flow radiator, but it does not really effect the cooling,
even it do (must) there was no noticeable difference

the biggest advantage gives you a pipe instead a hose from the radiator to the thermostat, a hose pulls together and can effect the water flow up to 70% under high revolutions
and a fully opened thermostat

that came out pretty good. now i kno the breather tank wouldnt cool the engine that much, if any at all. did you notice anything with the oil radiator you installed? im goin to install a water/meth kit this winter and try and get some cooling panels and such, i guess im just trying to get the most out of my 3s with out tearing into it.

Hi Ted,

i'am sorry but can you explaine me what "out tering into it" means, my enslish in not good enough to understand smile.gif

the oil radiator works fine with the thermostat i have oil temps from ~80-100°C

here we go, create as much pressure as possible in front of the radiator package and as less as possible in the engine bay to get the maximum air flow

a channel raise the pressure in front of it and a under panel with openings and tear off edges that look in the air flow under the car lowers the pressure in the engine bay, do you
ever had a look to the bonnet air escape.....you will note that the tear off edge in front of it is not so high as the backside, this is not a ideal design becouse air will escape just in the
front 1/3, air enters in the other 2/3, also the car angle of inclination effect this

i build this to solve it

http://www.turbocelica.nl/forums/thread.ph...sid=&page=3

i'am sorry imagehack doesn't work for now

i understand, thanks

you do the same like a friend of mine, he optimize his 3S-GTE wherever it goes

here a quick list of what i remember

- JDM ECU -> 100octane mapping
- TTE top mounted intercooler
- water injection
- 3" downpipe
- 100CPI cat
- aluminium radiator
- engine oil radiator

and now he plan do work with adjustable cam gears on oem camshafts

Hi,

you are welcome smile.gif

the main part for now is to strip down the engine to get the bores measured and now i'am in contact with cp-carillo for a set of rods and pistons
sub work for now is port work on the head and his water ways, and then i'll possible do a modified oem throttle body

should be enough for the winter tongue.gif

Hi,

Ted, there is another thing you can do to improve your cooling system i forget last time

anti freeze has a very low specific heat capacity and dramatically decrease the heat transfer of you cooling liquid,
demineralised water has the higest specific heat capacity of all liquids and no one ever developed a better liquid for cooling

the last years i drive the following ration 1:1,5 + 2% miller extra cool (2% of the water amount)
i noticed faster temp drops in the oil system after hard road driving, and also saw the liquid faster arriving operation temp.

do not drive just with water in front of rust, further tip -> reuse the old cooling liquid if she is ok, every fresh water brings new air in the system

Hi Roy,

thanks, i keep it up for you biggrin.gif

íf it is ok for you i will answer your PM in here

i didn't use intercooler fans becouse i found them useless and it just means more complexitiy, a fan is typically needed there where not enough air can flow -> slow speeds and corners
the trick with the water is to use his high specific heat capacity! and the other thing is a pushing fan just has ~70% power of a equal pulling fan * wich means i had to mount the fans
behind the radiator but there is just ~1cm space to the oil coolers, so there is simple not enough space

* the fan direct the air in rotation and some mm later she must through the straight fins of the radiator, the air doesn't want this and create a backpressure -> a drop in efficiency is to follow

for you oil cooler project i can advise you to use a greedy thermostatic adapter, the advantage is that he also uses sensor ports

i bought a ST205 specific HKS SSQV kit, so i had everything i need to mount the BOV -> air box blanking, flange, further installation parts

but it looks like you have a very fine machine shop, your work looks perfect thumbsup.gif

Ok, I knew pulling fans are more efficient then pushing fans but I didn't realise you installed the oil coolers that close to the IC rad.
Space is always the problem haha laugh.gif I always use genuine Toyota red coolant, but I'll try your mixture next time..

I already installed my Blitz sensors alongside the oil filter: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry944309
So I'm going to buy a thermostatic adapter without the sensor ports. But thanks anyway wink.gif

greetz

are one of those radiators, replacing the A/C condenser?
or do they serve different purposes (oil/trans cooling)

**EDIT- I guess what I am asking is if you got rid of the A/C compressor, or replaced it**

I was looking into getting rid of my A/C condenser and replacing it with a smaller cooler like the ones you have placed in front of the radiator.

hope i have explained everything ok!
thanks

Hi,

i understand what you want to ask biggrin.gif

i droped the A/C condenser so i will not usw A/C any more, a compromise that i decided becouse i never often used it, i want a good radiator position and also a good oil line routing in the car where they are more safe from
crashes becouse of this we relocated the lower mountings of the water radiator to get the maximum gap between radiator and chassis

left on the picture is the engine oil radiator and right the smaller gearbox one

let me know if threre is still anything left thumbsup.gif

have a look to this homepage

http://www.gtfours.co.uk/

-> how too -> relocate the battery

if i remember correctly i'am using a 35mm² wire and a 120A fuse on the battery (-> RS-components fuse holder)

hope it helps thumbsup.gif

Hi,

sorry for the late reply and thanks for you compliment thumbsup.gif

i had a few phone calls to wössner, and i also compared the weight there isn't a big difference but iirc CP-Carillo was a bit lower in weight
i think it simple was a matter of taste why i decided to go with CP-Carillo, or possible the fact that a good friend drives wössner in his engine
and i want something different to bring some color in the game biggrin.gif

.....hope for some updates soon

Hi,

small update,

uprated oem water pump

the following two pictures shows the axial clearance without gasket

oem, is ~2mm + 0,5 for the gasket

and here the machined one, 0 clearance without gasket (target clearance of 0,5mm with gasket)

i also machined all edges, good to see the two angles of the oem plastic impeller pump seat

and here a comparison of the two different pump housings, gen.3 GTE with the two angle seat and gen.4 with the simple one angle stainless variant

and here a how to do,

all 3S engines from gen.3 onward uses the simple stainless pump except the gen.3 GTE
i found that the stainless pump housing has enough material to machine the two angle seat at the target clearance so you need both housings, one where you get the angels measured and stainless pump housing to machine it
we did it on CNC turning machine, and was in need to built a bracket becouse the housing isn't able to get fixed centric without, then we measured the angles and programmed it

it takes ~2hours and cost me 100€, absolute ok i think smile.gif
feel free to drop me any question if needed smile.gif

Hi,

just some small things are done

some high heat screws for the manifold

and a selfmade tower bar, so it is easier for me to weld on mountings if i'am in need

a bigger update soon once the block is back from the builder

maschined intake manifold to fit the smaller haltech IAT thread
