Options:

a) is this mean if I do not organize it no one else here can?
b) people here do not want such a thing like calendar anymore?
c) I have just missed FS topic here (since I really do not visit 6gc.net much this year)?

folks. please. bring some light into it for me.

As far as I am aware no one made one...
I looked into calendars last year for another celica group and it would cost $30 before shipping just to PRINT a calendar in Australia and to me that's ludicrous.

http://www.vistaprint.com/lpt/wc-one-resp-...57790&GNF=0

Currently they're marked down to $7.99 each through them. Would help with putting one together quickly. That and there are a few other sites that do the same kind of thing, but at least I've heard of Vistaprint.

http://www.vistaprint.com/product-presenta...sentationId=699

Ok, so it adds another $1.50 for premium glossy but the more you buy the less they are.

Here's two more I came across:

http://www.custombuiltcalendars.com/custom...CFSMA7Aod2GAANg

http://www.overnightprints.com/calendars?c...CFZJZ7AodsTIAog

Maybe one of these places will offer enough customization to be satisfactory and allow a calendar to be made in time.

I had mentioned possibly taking the torch on this one but then some life happened haha

I had lightly looked around for some printing companies but I didnt see the option for custom designing both the date page and the image page on any of the sites. That to me was a big must have, especially how well the last couple calendars have gone using that method.

Id like to use the site Malpaso used but I dont think that was a US company.

We had also briefly discussed some alternatives to a Calendar. I dont remember if we came up with any.

Maybe some 6GC posters/collage posters?

Posters would be cool. On my laptop my wallpaper shuffles through several pics of celicas (malpaso's is one of them) I have it hooked up to my wall mounted TV. Love walking in my room and seeing celicas on my wall

A collage poster would be better I think. Let's be honest here, who in this day and age actually uses a physical calendar anymore? A poster is something you can keep up for an eternity and it'll be relevant. Then it'll have to figured out how big to make it, and how many cars etc... I think a yearly COTM poster would be nifty, or have one where you can submit and vote on the cars to be used.

Well, obviously people bought the calendar but who actually used it instead of their phone or computer? Is what I meant.

I have to agree with this actually. I bought the calendar last year and I love it, but I only wrote in it once I think. Poster would be neat.

I used my calender more for the date than anything.
It was small to write in, and I usually just used it in my office to glance over to figure out the date, and when other things need to be done/how much time I had to do them.

Plus it was cool to see my car in a calender laugh.gif

thinking of the poster collage idea...myself being a stickler for quality, mashing a bunch of photos with opposing compositions and styles would look like crap (i think..i havent really thought into it 100%)

shots like these below would be great and poster worthy, but then orchestrating such a gathering is a little hard since nobody is really near eachother.
any thoughts or suggestions?

something like this may be attainable if lighting is generally the same for everyone throwing in a picture

I was thinking about the collage too, and how to make it professional in appearance. A gathering is obviously one solution, another would be to have a theme for the pictures to be used. Or could do a "scrap book" look with pictures slightly overlapping one another in varying degrees of rotation. That or fading them into each other could be cool. The group photo might be the best solution, maybe a photo for each region and playing on that kind of theme for the poster. There's a million and one ways to go about it I suppose. tongue.gif

I used local company for printing. Just designed everything and posted 25 pages of "something" to print. No big deal. I need calendar only to have instant view on dates during a month to be able to plan work or meetings in a second. When with sheet is shown also something I like even better... I never write on it.

To print one calendar for my self is question of $25-30. Or I can buy some universal "sports car" one in local store for $8. So only what I wanted is to know if I can get something here what meets my needs for $20 max... wink.gif

8 from 12 is not bad. Sadly any COTM rules don't say participants need to have picture in suitable resolution for printing. So even those 8 no need to exist in good enough resolution at all.

That's issue I faced from the first moment. Not just 12 pictures you need. You need 12 pictures in high enough resolution. Good luck with that smile.gif.

A calendar seems to be much easier than most any of the other options we have.

How about a design where instead of image on top page and dates on the bottom, we enlarge the document size to 11x17(or similar) and have a downsized calendar on the lower portion of the image?

I am more for the image than the dates, but I know some of you may lean the other way a bit. If this is an idea people can get onboard with, I can set up an image submission thread and see what I can get out of it.

That would be cool, as I've seen calendars like that before. That or maybe have the backing extend below the pictures and have a yearly calendar there, then more people can be in it than just twelve.

why make it so complicated.

Look if someone steps up to the plate, pick the pictures of your liking. order 20 calendars, and sell them first come first served. I mean, at this rate, might as well plan 2016 rather than 2015. because ive never seen such and indecisive group.

some will like this, some wont. cant please everyone. There are some sites, that you submit the pictures, and create the calendar, and anyone can order directly from the site, more pricey, but hey.. that way no one can say money is being made, by who started the initiative.

1 month, and nothing, lol... its not rocket science.

Folks, what is happening here is pretty normal. I have faced this many times especially on forums in my country. People complain about the way things are done and when giving chance for change (doing things different - better - way) nothing happens. I usually say "better to have 50% of something than 100% of nothing".

For 2015 I have calendar sorted (it would be nice to remember amazing 2009 to me smile.gif). But 2016 is problem... February has +1 day so "recycling" is not an option. So I will make Celica calendar for sure. Only question is: 6gc.net's one in a batch or single Malpaso's one... 50% of something than 100% of nothing?

I am in for both ideas, the poster and the calender. The poster example above is excellent. Perhaps the Mods can start a poll on how many calenders each of us want etc and have people send money upfront and reserve a spot.

My indecisiveness is contagious apparently.

Personally I think finding a site where you submit the pictures you want and everyone can personalize the calendar to their liking etc... is good. Start a thread for everyone to post a few pictures of their car and everyone can select from it. That way there's no hurt feelings as no one gets left out and everyone can have their perfect calendar.

This is unbeliveable. I can believe again doing this... wink.gif Here is the thing:

I have searched through pictures here and picked 13 I found (first 13 I liked... nothing else). mostly between last COTMs and pics posted here http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=48805

Now... I see no problem to message all "affected" wink.gif to share with me FULL RESOLUTION image of the same (or maybe even better picture?) since they have skills to show nice picture. Make calendar template is question of few days. Have result printed another few days (after X-mass will be free everywhere). Delivery is question of 7-10days.

So... you can have it by the end of January made as "2015 February - 2016 January" piece. Since I will design it and let print as is (like I always did) not a single problem...

There are 13 names:

- all can be used (one for cover)
- one fails (cover will me mix)
- two fails (there are more great pictures OR I can simply put my celi there anytime...)
- three fails... (too complicated to get 11 pictures??? so lets forgot about calendars here once for good)

BlackWidow
DarkDeath
HectortheRican
Chromed
JaQb_CK
JoshuaM
kloudkicka
PegGTS
Rusty
Tigawoods
Timmyface
UndagrwnD
ILoveMySilly97

Lets roll:

THE ISSUE: how many calendars to print?

No I am not going to put money into it. Just the effort. So

1st: known amount of calendars
2nd: PayPaled costs = confirmed amount of calendars
3rd: printing of confirmed amount of calendar only

Price? Should be the same as last year I believe (for at least 10 printed) = $16 shipped.

NOTE: no 6gc.net logo = just calendar (if you want to lets call it "malpaso's 6gc.net favorite")

Negative wave? Isn't that an oxymoron? Was just saying it'd be more befitting and fair for a current member to be featured versus someone that doesn't even own the car anymore.

My pictures are okay at best, far from good. I can email the full resolution picture to you, Martin, but it was taken with a Nikon point and shoot so I know it'll fall short of resolution requirements from the past few years.

Thank you for all posts.

Update: I have messaged all listed people for permission to use picture and sharing high resolution pictures to my mail. I do not expect everyone will respond - in time or at all - so I believe there is space for some "backups"

CrossCudi

rentaspace

richee3

right now I have:
- 5 pics approved to use
- 7 pics available in high resolution
- 3 pics meet both conditions (given approval and high res picture)

fingers crossed wink.gif

note: I have messaged Tim and he agreed to share with anything is needed = rentaspace will has his picture approved soon

Good news! It seem we will have enough pictures for calendar. I have messaged few more people (to be sure we really will reach 12+1). Time is really short so I really cannot wait for late responses... I know this is really quick action an some people simply not around to approve/send pictures. But since any other are I will need to use what is available. I really do not know how people would feel if I use picture they made for calendar without permission. Anyway. Status:

I have HD picture and permission to use it:
kloudkicka
PegGTS
Rusty
Tigawoods
Timmyface
UndagrwnD
HectortheRican
JaQb_CK
rentaspace (photographer - Timmyface)

I have permission but not having high res. picture (will be fixed soon I believe)
DarkDeath
JoshuaM

Also I believe we can count with cheela's work = Cheela's pictures (as COTM winner and "quick win" picture to the list = available in HD and approved smile.gif - see below).
cheela
richee3 (photographer - cheela)

another is BlackWidow. I have pic in HD but waiting for confirmation to use it frown.gif...

from the rest I have nothing...

cheela's COTM picture:

so... even in the worst scenario I believe we get enough pictures together wink.gif.

tongue.gif I'm still around, just looking these days, not posting.

I'm not overly fussed on my photos being included. Of course i'd love it, but as you said, more benefitting someone who still owns theirs.
In saying that, i know 100% where my car is, who owns it and what they are doing to it...but it comes down to Malpasso and if he needs another High Res photo, in which he already has all mine wink.gif

Mate, you have great pictures. That is for sure. The fact is now we have 14 pieces so I can prepare design (task for Monday). Without two from you it would be harder get everything sorted. You are helping significantly. Anyway. I also need to figure out how to disappoint someone. Someone who doesn't own Celica? Someone with less beautiful picture? Someone who will not purchase the calendar? Someone I don't like biggrin.gif... ??? I don't know yet. But thanks for pointing yourself out wink.gif.

thumbsup.gif You'll figure it out. As you said, you can use people cars who actually owns them, but it may come down to their images not being up to quality than one of mine/someone else's has to be made.
Either way, I should be in for a calendar regardless.

Ok... first draft:

NOTE: calendar sheet is random to see how looks maximum possible days in maximum possible rows - it is not actual march 2015 wink.gif
NOTE II: and yes... I may tone pictures to warmer colors or make them less saturated to unite style and look of whole calendar... hope it is not an issue.

what do you think folks?

Exactly. That interior is one of favorites. I hope Mike will not have anything against it smile.gif

Tomorrow will continue with design. As looking at sheets I will probably make nicks smaller and name of months bigger plus few more minor changes... also need to figure out what picture to exclude frown.gif. As I write to Tim it is hard to choose. What I know for sure I will not exclude anyone who is supporting this project by buying the calendar. As I wrote we need 10 orders minimum to get expected price (for less than 10 pieces is price +3 dollars for each printed). And we have no time to wait. So shown interest is the key for smooth and fast run of this project. Without it I can only waste time. Anyway. So far thinking about to exclude picture of rentaspace's car:

+ superb picture
+ august COTM
+ one of active/interested in this topic from the beginning

- in fact rentaspace have not responded me to my message related to his participation (he is away probably). I know. Author of the picture is Timmyface and he gave me permission but... still feel bit weird to use his car somewhere without "warning".
- there already are two side shots (and JoshuaM's is bit better...)
- no purchase

I hate this part...

yeap... Ryan just gave me message so step back with process... kindasad.gif Only list I can make now is: "non buyers list" (as one key minus). So focus on pluses.

Tigawoods
+++ Featured Ride (Lets show some respect to the legend of this forum smile.gif)
+ Mike always supported me in terms of calendar (this one, last one...)
rentaspace
++ COTM (significant plus to me = there is prove people likes that picture)
DarkDeath
++ COTM (significant plus to me = there is prove people likes that picture)
Rusty
+ Russell has always supported me in terms of calendar. I need not to say a single word...
Timmyface
+ Timothy has always supported me in terms of calendar. He has shared any picture I needed. He is in fact bigger enthusiast than I am. I bought another car this year and stopped visiting 6gc.net. He sold his (what is minus wink.gif) but is still around...
HectortheRican
+ Hector is one of those who showed real interest and support and I really appreciate this...
JaQb_CK
+ Jacob has shared with me with several albums of stunning pictures... You have no idea... I had no problem to take more than one (different style, different composition) just pick the best that suits me to fit design of calendar. He really knows what to do with camera (not just lucky shooter like me biggrin.gif). Even now after a week I have 3 selected pictures and do not know which one is the best.
JoshuaM
+ Joshua was one of first who replied to me and... he would hate me for ages - even more than now in this moment - for excluding him from calendar AGAIN (I did this already last year)

2:34AM for me... in few hours I will finish all pictures and close this. Any tips? wink.gif

I still hold my position- I don't feel as though my car is calendar worthy. Although Chee La has submitted a good picture, and a hi res photo at that, you are more than welcome to omit my car. I've always supported the idea of the calendar but never bought one, so it's only fair that you keep everyone else's pictures but pass on mine.

Yes you can... wink.gif but this calendar is not about the car (modified/stock... who cares) but about the photography. And show me anyone who can say this is bad one:

More over. Since you are one who manage COTM competitions it is hard to participate (am I right?). Or you can take is as "thank you" for doing this smile.gif .

note: Design finalized now... here are all remaining 12 sheets:

Just stopped for a while and noticed what UNBELIEVABLE thing we all made here.

December, 23rd - one day before holidays idea came and nothing was sure...
December, 30th - a week later (WEEK) there were in fact 14 pictures ready for calendar. That is amazing cooperation during holidays (time when everyone is with their families etc.)
January, 6th - in another week there were TWENTY people interested to buy the calendar. And since there was mandatory to have some minimum amount... without buyers this all would be just waste of time...

Can you imagine that? pure two weeks + cooperation of (about) two dozens of people... Honestly I got hope but haven't expected that amazing progress. Because without enthusiast people in here I would have no chance to manage this successfully.

So once again thank you all for your contribution... bowdown.gif
