Hello 6GC,
*EDIT* So...after doing what I did, and learning more about a 6GC, I realized that I wanted a 96+; LE or Anniversary preferred. I just really love the face lift that it got, especially the fog lights! After saving up a little more money and doing some searching, I found one just a six hour drive away. I stole the projector lights from my '94 and happened to realize that the shifter in the '94 was actually a TRD Quickshifter (I thought the previous owner just bought the shift knob). I also took a couple of the rear interior trimming as some were in better shape. I'm in the process of replacing all the plastic fasteners and bolt coverings as I am a little OCD about those kinds of things. My newly used '97 previously had a little guardrail incident and got a little fender damage on the passenger side, and also lost her sidemarker. I wanted to replace the fender with one of the two sets of fiberglass fenders that I own, but I realized that I liked the OEM look a lot better. Here are some pictures of some progress I made: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sadly, the previous owner of the '94 just cut the 9006 harness and just spliced in an H4 harness. They also didn't convert the projectors to LHD. Currently don't drive at night as I am waiting for my harnesses to come in and love the look too much to change back. Now for some questions: I prefer the older two point spoiler much better than the three point and am thinking of just taking the whole trunk door off the '94 and placing it on my '97. Has anybody done this before? Will they fit flawlessly? If so, how do I disconnect this harness? ![]() "ZOOM IN!!!!" ![]() If the door won't fit, then I guess that blows. I'm probably just going to part out the older Celica, so if anybody has any requests, feel free to post or PM me. TO-DO LIST -Projector high beams -HID setup -Front tire exchange -Trunk door/air wing exchange -SSIII front bumper grill -ST202 riser blocks? -New tires -New OEM passenger fender ![]() I am the third owner of this car; the previous owner swapped the engine out, modded the car a bit, and added a turbo (163k body//~60k engine). Somebody stole the bumpers off the car and tried to steal the motor, so a lot of it is disconnected. I just finished taking apart the interior, and am currently in the process of putting it all back together. There's a little bit of rust on the body, but I was thinking of taking a wire brush on a drill and hitting those spots with that. Here are some pictures of the interior: http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj497/...zps9b0c4d32.jpg http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj497/...zpsed3491b7.jpg http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj497/...zps6cfbb8c9.jpg Now about the engine; I can't remember what the person I bought the car off of said he swapped it with. I was to say it's just another 5S-FE, but I could be wrong. I also can't seem to find the label that tells you, so if somebody could help me find that, I could give you the correct information. I do know he added a turbo and that there are several hoses cut, a couple nuts missing here and there, and also no distributor. I do have the original distributor from the original 5S-FE that came with the car including the spark plug wires. I was wondering if I had to use a different distributor since there's a turbo attached? In regards to what is disconnected, almost all the fluids, the intercooler, the engine since there's no drivebelt, the radiator to the exhaust on the engine?, and several other things. I will gives links for pictures. ![]() I'm just asking for some guidance from people who know specifically about this car, and I figure this is a good place to start. Thank you! I was able to do some work on my Celica this week; the harnesses for my projector lights came in and now I can drive during the night again!
![]() I purchased these ceramic harnesses off of Amazon (specifically from JDMToy). I couldn't find the correct H1 harness and thought the H7 would work. Alas, the socket is too small and the corresponding male ends of the bulbs are too far apart. Luckily, I still kept the H4 harnesses from the '94 and just spliced that and the new 9006 ones together to get these: ![]() Originally the antenna on the car didn't go down when the car was turned off, so I snagged that as well. ![]() I was able to disconnect the harness for the liftback and the hose for the rear washer nozzle (located underneath the underliner) and was able to remove the older liftback with the two post spoiler. ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, I did this part by myself because I was too excited to wait for my friend to help me remove it and I the liftback in two spots. I will be picking one up from the junkyard hopefully next week. I drove about an hour away to check out a Celica that was being parted out. The photos on Craigslist looked like the center arm rest was of the larger style and I for one really dislike how low it normally is. The journey was a great success! I managed to also grab the little liner on the inside of the arm rest, a piece of the driver's seat trim, and a complete set of OEM Celica mats! There's a hole in the driver's mat, but I have a spare rear mat and will finagle a patch for the hole (pictures of mats to come). ![]() ![]() ![]() ^The condition is so pristine! No tears or anything. Feels. So. Good. ![]() This post has been edited by MAGutz: Aug 7, 2014 - 10:21 PM |
