My new job pays me nothing so.......I am thinking about making some downpipes to get some extra money and to help out the celica community. I am looking to see how many people would possibly be interested in these. The price for them will be way lower than any other brand out there. $200 is what i think i can make them for. I am going to be making a prototype for some MR2 guy and i figured i can keep making a few more as long as there is interest.
I am going to make them out of 2.5" mandrel bent aluminized steel. "That is supposed to be the best setup for engines under 300whp". Each one will be coated with 1200 degree paint (black or silver option). Stock o2 sensor location will be the same. I will put up some pics after the first one is done but you can see the 3" dp i made for myself a while back on my profile. The design will be really similar but 2.5" pipe will be used this time. So how many of you performance junkies would be interested? I need to see what kind of number i am looking at so i know if i can order parts in bulk to make these things. Also: I can still make the 2.5" midpipes for the 3sgte and 5sfte to compliment this dp mod. I might as well order parts for them at the same time if there is interest there too???? ![]() DG Note: thses are not for sale yet ....so i think this is the right location for this post? i thought boost creep was when the wastegate would open a little sooner that it was supposed to.....meaning the boost in your car would fall off a bit. anyway, ive been running 14-15 psi of boost for a long time now.... i have even got up to 18-19 psi when i was not paying attention in 5th gear. There is no way that anything under 12 psi of boost should be a problem for any 3sgte in my point of view..... unless you are running a top mount with no hood scoop in 90 degree heat on 87 octane.
But who would do that ![]() Bottom line: A down pipe is not going to cause problems by itself. DG This post has been edited by DG_Performance: Nov 30, 2004 - 9:30 AM -------------------- ![]() |

So you get more air. Meaning more power. Meaning more boost. Keep going until detonation. Boost should rise to a peak and then stay rock solid ideally. And have a search at GT4OC. Bosst creep with free flow exhausts (including a down pipe) is fairly well documented. It's not terminal, you just hit fuel cut. -------------------- JDM ST205
Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000 Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying. |
