How serious is it when you have a bad clutch throw out bearing?

edit: better explaination. bear with my lack of the correct terminology
its just a metal ring that attaches to the fork and moves up and down the shaft in the transmission to push in that disc with the springs and push out the pressure plate to disengage the clutch. in other words (you probably didn't need that whole explaination) the middle is what usually gets worn out so if its just worn or not lubed well anymore it'll still do its job, probably just make a little noise. if its broken (although I'm not sure what you were doing that it would be that bad) you might have a problem. you can still drive the car fine, just replace it next time you replace the clutch. it's not expensive, but it's not serious enough to justify taking the whole transmission off just to replace that one thing
