i was wondering if anybody has been successful in converting a 6 speaker setup with tweeters and speakers in the door panels and speakers in the rear panels into a 8 speaker set up with tweeters in the mirror covers and 2 pairs of speakers in the doors and a pair in the rear panels. what i am trying to do it put the tweeters in the mirror covers and open up the tweeter hole to a 3.5 or 4 inch hole and put some speakers in that spot like on the 6 speaker setup. i want to know waht size and how to mount the tweeters in the mirror covers and the best way to mount the new speakers in the tweeter hole. if anybody has any tips please let me know

Yeah your best bet is to find a set of 8-speaker door panels, and go from there. I have the factory 8-speaker configuration in my car, but I have some aftermarket speakers installed in their place.
You can see pics of my setup and how i did mine here: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=36658 I have OEM 1" tweeters in the mirror covers, 4" Kicker Resolutions in the middle 4" opening, and 8" Kicker Resolution RMB-8 Mid-Bass free air subs in the 8" opening. I just installed a set of 5 1/2" Kicker fullrange in place of the rear speakers recently and it sounds awesome. I wanted to make a very full and clear setup that would eventually allow me to do away with my old 10" sub enclosure in the trunk...between the two 8" mid-bass in the door and the rear 5 1/2", it puts out plenty of bass for any type of music and its really nicely balanced. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
