So I woke up this morning, feeling great and heading to a TRD meet looking for some supra action. Then I heard this sqeaky sound coming from under the hood. At first I tought it was a drivebelt slipping, but when the car came a little hotter, it didn't stop. I pulled over to have a look under that hood and noticed that a little smoke was coming out of the timing belt cover. I think it's coming from the water pump and that the bearing might be weared.
Has anyone of you guys experienced this before? What do you think about this and can I still drive it a little just to get to a good garage? Since I don't have time neither the tools to do it myself... Thanks for looking! -------------------- -PHILI- ![]() |

bud, your water pump is NOT under the timing cover.
standing at the passenger wheel facing the motor, left to right, there are 3 pulleys at the top portion of the motor 1. The alternator 2. Water pump 3. Power steering. i had a bad tensioner (locked up) and it did the same thing. smell the smoke. if its sweet smelling, its coolant, if it smells like burnt rubber... then it is prob your timing belt melting away.. -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated.
