So I ordered a push start ignition and got the red, black wires figured out obviously. But there are two blue wires. One to the ignition wire (positive) and the other Iginition wire(negative). Does anyone know what color the positive n negative to the iginition wires and where in the steering column they are?

This cheat sheet will help you. You will probably install the engine start button at the cigarette lighter, so easiest way to get to all the wires is the ignition harness. You will need to remove the panel below the steering wheel to get to it. Don't know about no negative wire for the ignition...
My guess you need two wires (12V and GND) for the button light, and other two to tap into ignition. I'd use ignition wire (tap into the one that gives 12V when you turn key to ON position) for power supply. As for the wire that button triggers... you'll have to use starter wire (the same 12V key ON source on one wire of the button and other tapped into the starter wire). But this depends on what kind of button have you got - some buttons need relays and some don't. But I've never done this before, so be careful at this... I suggest you get a voltmeter and check every single wire (also on the button) before doing anything. And remember to disconnect the battery before tapping into the wires, this might spare you a fuse or two. If I suggested him wrong, please somebody correct me ![]() This post has been edited by Nihil: Aug 1, 2012 - 1:43 AM -------------------- |
