I have to get new tires today and I wanted to know what is the largest possible size we can get? I have 17 inch rims. I always thought that the largest is 225 45 17. Please help me out with this guys. I am leaving in about an hour to pick up some new tires.

thats a good size for your wheels, i would stick with it...

just because you can put a bigger and bigger tire does not always mean better.

Word to the wise. This is not wise- 235/45R18. I tried it and it was doing two things. Rubbing my inner wheel wells and the the finder and rear quater panel. Best bet, stick with 17s.

Yeah I am going to stick with the 17's. I was just wondering if anyone has tried a 235 or something like that.

Not really. I always thought (I think I read it on here), that the 3SFE and 5SFE Header were interchangeable. There are some people on here that have taken a 3SFE header and put it on their 5S. I am not sure about what to do for a 3S though. Sorry bro. Dude, you're in Oki. Aren't there a ton of parts there? lol

18s were not your problem. incorrect tire sizing was..

225/40/18 would have been fine. I had that on all 4 corners + I was lowered on coilovers over 2" and i never rubbed wink.gif

I C. Thanx man. I figured I stay with 17s anyway. Keep me close to the ground. For some reason 18s just sit too high for my taste. Personal preferance I guess.

My dad has stock 235/40/17's, but I guess 225 or even 215 would be fine for you.

I have 235/40/17 on a 7" wide rim. Yes, before anyone says anything, its 10mm wider than recommended for that width rim. I decided to do it because the design of the tires i chose have extremely rounded edges and there are no rubbing issues. The tire does not bulge or anything weird. IF you're getting a tire that is not rounded on the edges dont get a 235, it will most likely rub depending on your wheel offset.

So after further inspection after picking up my car, the guys at NTB put on 245 SERIES TIRES!!!!! The question is, should I return them? They only charged me for the 225 series tires. Are these going to hurt my car at all? They are not rubbing or anything to that extent. Yesterday I thought they looked a little big but I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me because of going from a 205 to a 225. Anyways, do you guys think I will be ok with the 245's?

If it's not rubbing at full lock either way and on bumps the only other thing I can think of to worry about is are your rims wide enough to truly acommodate that wide of tires thru stressfull turns etc. The last thing you want is for the tire to come off the rim while taking a tight corner.

Check the specs of your rims to make sure they can acommodate a 245 width tire. You can usually get away with ~ 10mm of additional width due to manufactures safety factors but that's up to you to decide ultimately.
