I dont know if there is one or if someone has one on how to remove the rear bumper on a 94 ST hatch thanks in advance people- not sure if they are the same but its easy to do on the vert, behind the lic plate panel is a few bolts and three on each side by the wheel well, and its off! -------------------- You're here for a good time, not a long time. - Colin McRae When in doubt... On coupes they also glued bumper to the car so you might need a knife to pry it off.

If I remember right there are:
- plastic clips just below tail lights (you must remove tails to see them) - easy to remove. - row of about 5 screws from the bottom side (visible) - for 80% rusted as hell and you will need to cut them (nip them off) and re-drill when installing bumper back. - 2 screws on each side at fender area (you must remove plastic from the trunk to see them) - you probalbly would need some adapter to get there because there is not much space... you will see. -------------------- No more replicas... Ok thanks
On the under side of my rear bumper there are like 5 bolts(running in line across the bumper), or well used to be bolts there, all the bolt heads were broken off by the previous owner. Is there anyway to get those broken bolts out? ...the very back part. Question: slightly off-topic, but do mechanics have manuals for each car? It's not a lot of work, but that's more work than I thought. Let's just say I had to bring my car to a shop to get the bumper repainted, that's a lot of stuff for them to remove.

Let's just say I had to bring my car to a shop to get the bumper repainted, that's a lot of stuff for them to remove. they have an electronic catalog for each vehicle (in the case of paint) that can show parts (exploded diagrams) ect. But this is why mechanics go to school and study these things. removing a bumper is easy in the grand scheme of car systems. |

I didn't expect them to have to get into the car, I thought the 5 screws at the bottom (and some tabs toward the top) only held the bumper on.

yes you would drill into the old bolt. and you can use and extractor bit set (google it, or look on sears.com) to remove the bolt or a tap die set (again google this, or sears.com) to rethread.
Honestly you don't even need the bolts under the car on the bumper....they are just excess weight anyways ![]() |
